So me and 4 of my friends, 5 of us total, want to start getting into dnd! We have no clue how to set up a campaign or run anything though so we'd like to find a fun DM who knows how to start everything and invite us and all have a good time playing a campaign! We're not looking for someone who's going to be backseat gaming or say that we're playing wrong or anything, we just want a chill but enthusiastic person to run the game for us! Thank you.
hi, what time on Sunday EST? 7EST - 10EST works for me. I'm in the CST timezone.
A couple of questions if I may....How new are you all? Do you need help making characters? Seems we would need a Turn -1 and Turn 0 to get things going. I would like to talk on the phone to find out more details and meet.
I use Roll20 for mapping and character tokens. Also, I like to use the AD&D modules in the Forgotten Realms and MOST of the rules for leveling, abilities, race/class, and such...I use the 5e combat D20 roles and such. In combat, when a character reaches 0 hp or less...he/she is dead. BUT, if another character provides immediate first aid, the character is stabilized, not dead. The "medic" has to continue to provide aid for 5 rounds. If a character reaches -10hp, nothing will save him/she....I can put together some rules I usually go by if you'd like.
I generally let players have A LOT of freedom with actions.
7-10 will work! We’re all pretty new, we have characters and know how to make them, but creating a campaign and running everything we’re very confused by. We can all talk in discord sometime tomorrow if that works for you! My discord is otaku#6212 and I can create a group call whenever you’re free tomorrow!
I'm looking at running a Myth Drannor campaign from Forgotten Realms. You can wiki it to learn a little more. It will be fun....LOTS of adventures, lots of room for different character types. Keep in mind these will be AD&D characters, not the 5e one finds on DND Beyond. Use AD&D character sheets.
I'm used to using "Theater of the mind" and using Roll20 for maps and character tokens. I've not incorporated the electronic character sheets in Roll20 but will look into that option.
I'm an old school D&Der. I don't spend a lot of time in the rules...I use them as a guide so things like encumbrance, skills, etc, I don't spend a lot of time on as it slows the game. I like fast interesting and mostly reasonable actions and play.
Sounds like you have a good option before you already, but I'll throw my hat in the ring too.
I'm a first time DM, and am three months (ten sessions) into running my first homebrew campaign for a group of friends. Most are new players, a couple are more experienced, and everybody's enjoying it so far. I'm interested in running the same campaign for a group of strangers to hone my skills... but mostly because I'm having a lot of fun creating this world and running this campaign.
Game: D&D 5e with a handful of minor house rule tweaks Group type: Online via Discord, with theatre of the mind Experience: New / a few years / veteran (if you can be patient with a fairly new DM) Location/Timezone: Central time Schedule: looking to play every 1 - 2 weeks. I can make Sundays work if it's 10pm - midnight ET. I can make other days work too. Roles sought: I'm looking to be a DM, and the campaign will work for 4-5 players Game style: clean language & content. A good balance between casual, role playing, and combat. I'm pretty flexible on the rules. The characters will start at Level 1, and can be any race except full elves (though I could be flexible on that if somebody really wants to be an elf and we can come up with a backstory that fits the world). They all grew up around a mid-sized isolated city on the eastern coast of a small continent and haven't really travelled before, and they know little of the outside world. I'll provide a map & breakdown of the city, and will work character backstories into the campaign as much as I can.
That sounds perfect! Thank you so much! We want to play Sundays at 8:30 pm EST but 10-12 could work just fine! If you would like to do for us we would very much appreciate it! As I’ve stated above my discord is otaku#6212 and whenever you are free we can get everyone in a group chat and start talking it out!
