Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online (Discord+D&DBeyond) Experience: No experience necessary Location/Time zone: Online (EST) Roles sought: Player Game style: Old-school dungeon crawl Date/Time: 5:30 EST Mondays and possibly more!
The Rift campaign is designed to give players a gamelike experience. Story and roleplay play a minimal part, players instead will explore different dungeons containing their own story and quests. The campaign is meant to be a challenge in which players take a character from lvl 1 to 20. Below I have a few details about the campaign, I’m hoping to add more with player input!
You are in the Rift, a plane of existence outside the realm of comprehension. Pieces of different worlds exist simultaneously here, constantly floating through the void like fragments. All around you, as far as the eye can see are large planets, stars, nebulas, and floating islands with castles, temples, and other strange places unfamiliar to you. This fragment is a circular island floating through the void of the Rift. The island is encircled by a ring of monolithic arches and obelisks placed at the edges of the stonework floor. The floor is beautiful, impossibly crafted with precision and engineering beyond the skill of any known beings. This is the Rift Nexus.
The players begin at the Rift Nexus, which serves as a base of operations for the party. There, portals can be used to traverse the Rift. Mechanically, the portal serves as an endless series of dungeons. This game is intended to be a casual dungeon crawl among friends.
This campaign has two main goals: to introduce new players to the server and build a community, and to be an enjoyable experience where many different players can play together and socialize with little commitment to an ongoing narrative. The rules and gameplay of the campaign are secondary to these goals.
The plan is for this game to run several times a week, with a pool of players that would join from the Beyond forums. Players could have a character that they use consistently, or they could have many different characters they prefer to play at different times. Each session, a group of players will explore dungeons. In the dungeons they will fight monsters, overcome traps, and gain treasures and experience. It is an “always on” campaign, so whatever the players do during each session is persistent and will change the landscape of the dungeons for other players that choose to go there, regardless of what days they choose to play.
Please do not make a character without DM supervision!
Our first session is Monday the 10th 5:30PM EST. I plan to run the game several times a week, based on player demand.

Resting
When you finish a long rest during which you slept in medium or heavy armor, you regain only one quarter of your spent Hit Dice (minimum of one die). If you have any levels of exhaustion, the rest doesn’t reduce your exhaustion level.
Whenever you end a 24-hour period without finishing a long rest, you must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or suffer one level of exhaustion. After the first 24 hours, the DC increases by 5 for each consecutive 24-hour period without a long rest. The DC resets to 10 when you finish a long rest.

If you carry weight in excess of 10 times your Strength score, up to your maximum carrying capacity, you are instead heavily encumbered, which means your speed drops by 20 feet and you have disadvantage on ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws that use Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution.
