Hi! My name is Rem (or Viper), I'm 23, and I am completely, woefully new to TTRPGs. I wanted to try DnD for a while, but I've been anxious i'd end up playing with the wrong crowd and ruin the experience. I'm non-binary, and it's important for me to feel safe in the new group, knowing I will not be misgendered or singled out. I'm also aro/ace, but I believe it won't have much bearing on the game since in-game romance and/or any sexual themes don't really bother me, i just don't want any of that applied to my out-of-game self.
About the game I'm looking for: I know I enjoy roleplay, since I've been frequenting play-by-post textual RPs on and off for about 10 years now. The reason I wanted to branch out into tabletop in the first place is, I could use an environment with less of a pressure to be a ""good writer" or something. Less purple prose and more bouncy back-and-forth dialogue, I guess? I also like investigating/exploring, which I've also learned from the RPs I was in. I'm not too familiar with the combat side of DnD, so I'm pretty open to suggestions on builds and such. The only thing I know is, I don't really have the patience to play support/healer, and would rather either debuff or damage. As for the vibe of the campaign, I like horror and/or high stakes as much as I do clowning around, so I should be down for whichever way the party rolls. I'm pretty adaptable. I'm also literally the easiest person to schedule around, as I'm a freelancer and can even afford to go nocturnal if I have to. I guess I wouldn't want to play with kids, as I do swear a lot. I also can't really afford to pay, so I'm looking for a free game where everyone's just looking to have a good time and make a cool story together.
Content I'd like to avoid: There isn't much, and some of it might look like weird hills to die on, but it's kinda important to me nonetheless.
In-game sexism, homophobia, transphobia, human-on-human racism etc. Some fictional form of persecution, like based on magic or some other made-up characteristic unrelated to the real world, shouldn't be a problem.
Adult/child pairings and Sweet home Alabama. I don't necessarily find it triggering, but I do find it pretty damn gross, since I'm, y'know. sane?
Anything that belongs in the bathroom. I'm easily squeamish around graphic descriptions of literal piss, shit and vomit, and crawling through the sewage doesn't sound like my idea of fun.
Graphic descriptions of eye trauma. Just, please don't. Going blind is like, my #1 fear.
Graphic description of child-rearing and childbirth, as well as related internal anatomy. I can't imagine what it's like, nor do I want to. Ever. Like, It's okay to mention an NPC is expecting, for example, just don't go describing the body horror aspect of it.
Furries. I know, compared to the rest this one sounds really damn frivolous, but i have this completely irrational phobia that probably evolved from my childhood fear of costumed mascots. I do find the aesthetic and culture kinda cringe tbh, but being "kinda cringe" is not a crime, I was cringe once and probably still am cringe from time to time, so I wouldnt've included it into my list of "hard nope"s if something about it didn't genuinely unsettle me. I know DnD has a lot of bypedal animal hybrid races, I'd just prefer them on the background and/or not adopting the furry vibe.
Otherwise, I'm not that easily bothered by sensitive content. If it's not here, it's probably not something that will cause me to have a full-blown panic attack on the call. Of course, I'm ready to respect others' boundaries just as I expect them to respect mine.
About me: If you've read this far, chances are, you're considering if I'm a good fit for your game. Thanks for giving me a chance! I'm an artist, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it as I literally used to take commissions for a living, and am slowly getting back into it after a long, real-life-related break. My profile pic has been drawn by me, actually, and, if things go well, you can expect a lot of campaign-related fanart. Did the bribery work yet? My favourite band is IAMX, favourite video games - Hades and Super Danganronpa 2. Recently I've gotten into Don't Starve and Lobotomy Corporation. I do watch anime, and I read a lot of fanfiction, although those two interests don't correlate as often as one might think, i'm not necessarily hyperfixated on anything recent at the moment. I'm autistic and my love language is playfully roasting people, which can be a bit of a dangerous combination, but rest assured in no way do I find someone being genuinely upset funny. If you tell me to tone it down, I will, no questions asked!
