Update; A new campaign is beginning looking for players
About Me I'm 38, I've been DMing since middle school (2nd Edition). I like to consider myself a balanced DM, bringing strong combat, exploration, and roleplay to my campaigns. I enjoy creating encounters that envelop all three of these pillars, allowing for many routes of discovering, interacting, and fighting with different encounters. I've been developing my world since I created this discord, and have some strong ideas I'd like to implement. However, I strongly like to weave player characters into my world. This desire to weave players into my world means I can only write so much before I have to consider how the player fits into everything, and I've reached what I think is a comfortable limit for that.
About My Schedule I'm a team trainer at a retail company and that means my schedule is fairly set in stone. I either work early mornings or late mornings until the afternoon. Eventually my schedule will be dedicated Mon-Fri, which leaves me thinking Saturdays would be my ideal day for gaming. I'm in MST time zone and tend to prefer to go to bed around 10pm. That said, an ideal game day for me would be Saturdays from 5pm - 10pm. EST: 7pm - 12am CST: 6pm - 11pm MST: 5pm - 10pm PST: 4pm - 9pm
About My World; Tel'Aiire, The Land The Gods Once Walked Commonly Known History The Shattered World: Tel'Aiire in Chaos In the aftermath of the Dawn Cataclysm, the once-cohesive world of Tel'Aiire was left fragmented and scarred. The remnants of the divine realms were now floating islands of magic, each holding vestiges of the gods' power. The mortal races struggled to adapt to this new world order. Kingdoms that once thrived now stood divided across the broken landscapes, cut off from each other by treacherous expanses and unstable magic.
Age of Reconstruction: Mortal Empires Rise The Age of Reconstruction saw the rise of mortal empires that sought to reestablish order in the fractured world. Kingdoms and city-states formed alliances and began to rebuild their societies, often with their own unique ideologies and cultures. Over time, these empires discovered that the floating islands held not only power but also secrets of the gods' downfall.
The Veil of the Gods: Divine Intervention Ends In this era, it was discovered that the remnants of the divine realms were slowly fading, their magic seeping back into the world. Mortals were cut off from direct divine intervention, and the once-omnipotent gods became mere whispers of their former selves. Some turned to new sources of power, while others sought to exploit the fading magic for their own gain.
Current Era: Tensions and Tentative Peace The nation of Seneca has a complex history of wars with neighboring nations. The recent conflicts have left Seneca battered but not broken, as a tentative peace now holds. However, underlying tensions and rivalries persist, and the newfound stability may be fragile. As the people of Seneca try to rebuild and secure their future, rumors of ancient relics and forgotten knowledge hidden within the floating islands begin to spread.
About Joining I'm a very roleplay heavy DM, with very strict rules about when game terms are used. For instance, one of my house rules prohibits players from asking to make checks. Instead, players ask if they can accomplish tasks, and checks are assigned based on the actions requested. Example; "I feel like this guy is lying, do I notice any unusual body language?" I ask for players who are in it to write a story, not those who are in it to powergame and make unstoppable characters. I'd rather DM for interesting characters than optimized characters. I also ask for 18+ only.
