Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online - primarily Discord Experience: New DM - I’ve a decent amount of experience as a player, but I’m new to DMing Location/Timezone: GMT/CET Schedule: Pretty flexible, depending on players. I’d prefer Thursday evenings or Sundays, and I’d prefer to be able to play weekly. Roles sought: 4-6 players Game style: Roleplay-heavy
I’d like to take a dive into DMing, and I’m looking for players willing to learn with me - new or experienced. I’ve tended to prefer a casual, rather than hardcore atmosphere, and more roleplay than hack n slash. I’m thinking of starting off with the Storm King’s Thunder at level 1, but I’m open to suggestion.
Hello. I've never played D&D before and I'm excited to try as a player. I'm two hours ahead of GMT and usually available Thursday and Sunday evenings. If you're fine with a new player I'd like to try as a half elf healer, but I'd probably be a bit too shy to talk and would need party members to tell me to act.
I'm 20 years old, have 0 experience other than general knowledge on how the game works and I'm excited to play if you would have me.
Hi Papervolcano, I have only little experience as a player (I have literally played 3 levels of druid before (and would love to go for a druid again)) and would love to join a regular game. I have never played online before, but would be down for Thursday/Sunday evenings (am living in GMT in summer time and GMT+1 during winter).
This sounds interesting, but I would need to know what day you are planning on and what time as I live on the Atlantic coast of N. America, and as such an several hours removed from your side of the pond. Even if I'm unable to join in, as a suggestion I would add the day/time you were planning to run, or that it is open for negotiation with the applicants, as well as the frequency planned for gaming (weekly, bi-weekly, etc) for the game so other interested parties can know in advance for their scheduling. Also, are there any races/classes that would be restricted, or books that aren't allowed to pick from? Would there be inclusion of Homebrew content, or things like the Blood hunter class from Critical Role? What form would be preferred? Play by Post? Roll20? Discord/voice
If the scheduling works out, I am a veteran RP'er since the mid 90s in various game systems. I've been playing 5th ed. for nearly 2 years now and am fairly versed in its nuances, though I do occasionally get PF and 5e rules mixed at times. I can create a 1st level character fairly easily if I know what the basic setting is, or if the party is lacking in something specific. I will admit to not being very good with playing a Cleric however.
Great to see the interest! @marshook, I’d be glad to have you! @feanaryo, a Druid would be very welcome. @00Ciaran a lot of my experience is online, so it’ll be great to share and learn from each other
@NanashiEru, thanks for the interest and your suggestions. As I said, I’m looking at Thursday or Sunday evenings, depending on what works best for everyone, with weekly games, and focusing on using Discord - I find Roll20 to be unwieldy.
My plan is to have a session zero to work out table rules and preferences around homebrew, and to get the gang together. I’ll set up a campaign and DM people with an invite so we can start putting together characters and so forth!
I would like to join as a player (up for playing any Race/Class) - if possible - and I can help you out with whatever you need: I have a lot of experience as a DM and played on a few tables.
I would recommend - if you don't mind of course - starting most games at level 3, especially Storm King's Thunder, that can start at lvl 1 or 5. Low-level-play (lvl 1 to 3ish) tend to be pretty boring for some people (personal opinion and experience).
The final word is yours of course, and I am up to anything.
EDIT: Also, if for some reason the table is full or you think I wound not fit the group, I can help you prep the module. One thing that I learned through my GM years is that is ALWAYS ok to ask for help. =D
Do my eyes decieve me? Is this actually an online group near my actual timezone (GMT+2)?
Hot damn! I'm available Thursdays - also some Sundays, but I DM a group once or twice a month that, due to scheduling, occasionally plays on Sundays instead of Saturdays so my own preference would be Thursday. A weekly campaign would be awesome, and I've been looking for any excuse to go through SKT.
I am down to play basically any class, depending on what the group requires (or if it's up to me I've been meaning to mess around with Bards lately, so there's that). I run the previously mentioned campaign over discord, so no issues there.
I’m inclined to start at level one and burn through the noob levels, if only because we’ve players who have never played before, and a new GM - so learning to swing a sword before we start headbutting giants feels sensible, but if players want to jump ahead to level 5, that’s easy to arrange. I’m going to put up a couple of polls in the Discord channel this evening, and hope to have a session zero (hopefully this Sunday) in order to hammer out table rules and similar, and we can decide on start points too.
While I normally agree to starting off after a few levels, especially at 3rd in 5e as that's your sub-class level for nearly all classes, since there are new players it's probably a good idea to put them through their paces with the low levels. I've played several games where I've gone from 1st to 3rd level in a session.
Would like to put myself forward for consideration for this group. I'm totally new to 5e but have some previous D&D experience from my youth and more recently with a group of friends running an antiquated rule set called B/x Essentials. Would be able to join for Sunday or Thursday depending on start time being after 18:30 GMT/BST (Thursday would be some what easier as I have more flexibility in the time I can commit).
I would be happy to come and chat on discord or other communications as I have had many years of experience online gaming in various MMOs and like to talk.
Fab - I’ll send you an invite. At the moment we’re just getting set up and not sure if everyone will be able to make it, depending on the day/time chosen, but things seem to be getting going, so I’ll close the thread for now

Hi
I have a lot of playing and DMing experience but none online.... really want to learn how it all works and happy to be part of a learning group!
would like to play a dwarf bard or half-orc Paladin
I'm so glad and excited to see other people wanting to join. I hope this goes off well and we all get along :)

Yay, more players! I’ll send out some invites.
