Schedule: Tuesdays, weekly from 6:00 PM CST to 11:00 PM CST with small breaks at the top of each hour.
Roles sought: Players (up to eight).
Game style: This campaign will have a heavy mystery theme, which will require thought more often than a blade (70% RP / 30% Combat). That being said, combat will be wild, and brutal when it occurs. Character death is a possibility.
Campaign Summary:
Iros is one of the six moons of Aether, a massive world ruled by the Erren Empire. The empire prides itself on its moons being as advanced and prosperous as the planet's surface, adopting the phrase "As above, so below" to represent this ideology.
Our story begins on the surface of Iros, where an eternal darkness cloaks the moon's skyline. In the sprawling metropolis of Ker, endless rain pours down, shrouding the towering buildings in an impenetrable mist. The once-thriving city, a hub of innovation and arcane prowess, now finds itself gripped by a series of unsolvable crimes, leaving its citizens in a state of fear and uncertainty.
Amidst this gloom, a group of talented and enigmatic arcane detectives emerges. United by their diverse skills in magic, deduction, and combat, they work under the supervision of the empire to unravel the sinister mysteries plaguing Ker.
As they delve deeper into the heart of the city's enigmas, the detectives uncover a web of dark conspiracies. Mysterious disappearances, arcane anomalies, and a rise in forbidden magic hint at a malevolent force threatening the very foundation of Ker, which could put all of Iros, and potentially Aether, at risk.
FAQ:
Are there any restrictions on character creation? You will start at level 3, selecting any race, class, or subclass you choose, preferably from official D&D supplements.
What is my character’s life expectancy? Make a single backup character on the off chance your journey is cut short. Do not put a lot of effort into this extra character; we can flesh them out at a later date if they become necessary.
How will shopping sessions work? Outside of sessions I will host markets in this campaign's Discord chat wherein limited amounts of goods can be purchased. First come, first serve. There will not be lengthy shopping trips during sessions unless of course a specialty item has to be acquired. Loot/currency rewards will be frequent.
What is our shared goal as a party? You each attended an Errenian academy which led to you being assigned to Iros as an undercover detective, in the city of Ker. Your age, family history, and the specific origin on Aether are entirely up to you, but expect more information to gradually roll out (the setting is rather large). You may hail from Iros itself, one of the other five moons, or Aether.
What gear do we start with? Your Class + Background starting equipment. Additional gear will be picked out for each character based off of personality, class, or background. Each character will receive a dormant artifact that ties into their backstory and is intended to grow alongside them as they level up.
Do we have any allies? You and the other party members have been on Iros, in Ker, for 6 months, completely undercover. You have a warforged case handler by the name of 777 (also known as Seven) who is the only individual on Iros that knows your true identities and why you are on Iros. He gives you major cases flagged by the Empire and you can complete smaller jobs/cases at your leisure. 777 is also how the party gets gear in most cases (shopping outside of sessions). You will need a codename for use out in public when speaking to NPCs, as none of them can find out who you truly are.
