We are seeking 1 additional player for a long-term campaign. The game has started with a great core group, but in the interest of long-term stability we’d like one more; it’s easier to add now rather than later.
Game: D&D 5e
Group type: Online / Roll20 for weekly sessions + forum play-by-post between sessions (written word only; no voice). We also use Discord for OOC communications.
Experience: Some D&D experience required (existing players are veteran)
Location/Timezone: GM is in Lisbon, Portugal (GMT+0) with some players in the U.S.
Schedule: Weekly on Sunday evenings GMT (~6-9pm)
Roles sought: 1 additional player.
Game style:
Heavy on story and character development.
Combat, when it occurs, is roleplayed with descriptions, dialogue, and realistic choices
Slow advancement, not for power gamers.
Set in the Forgotten Realms.
Human PCs are strongly encouraged.
The DM leverages modules to provide foundational content, but the story is open to go in any direction depending on the choices and actions of the PCs.
NPCs will act & react realistically according to their own motives and personalities.
This is a long-term campaign that will run for years.
A little more about us:
Three of us have been playing together for many years, primarily various versions of D&D but other systems as well along the way. Our longest campaign(3.5e/Pathfinder) ran for 13 years. Most of us are over the age of 40, and the DM has been GMing for some ~30 years. He is an avid writer and a history buff.
About you:
You are “mature” (probably over 25).
You have time, energy, and enthusiasm to at least check in on the game on a near daily basis, to keep up with the forum between Sunday sessions.
You can be happy roleplaying a mere human existing in a fantastical and dangerous world; you do not need to be some wild creature or snowflake hybrid in order to find interest in your character or pleasure in the storytelling.
You have a long attention span; it is okay to have entire sessions without combat.
You like to write descriptively about your character, using complete sentences and refraining from the use of “ur” instead of “your.”
You appreciate complex, dynamic, well roleplayed NPCs who will act and react in a realistic manner, appropriate to their own motives and personalities.
You like to act in a dynamic world that you can affect with your own decisions and actions, rather than being guided down a prescribed path.
You love to get inside your character’s skin, and you understand how to translate the numbers and mechanics on a character sheet into an interesting, complex, and enjoyable persona that adds to the story.
You are not overly self involved; you give space, air, and attention to the other PCs, fully reading other players' posts and descriptions and responding to them appropriately.
This shouldn’t need to be said, but sadly from experience it seems it does: You are polite and respectful toward other players and the DM; if you disagree with something, you will deal with it like a grownup.
If you are interested, post or PM me. Please include info about yourself, including at minimum your age and location. The more you share, the better I can get a feel for you as a player. We've been doing this for many years and are fairly selective -- for everyone's sake! -- to create optimum chemistry in the group, especially since this is for the long haul.
Of course, I'm more than happy to answer questions as well, here or by PM.
Hello! I'm UK based and 30 years old. My experience is mostly 5e DnD (about 7 years, DMed multiple games including one I'm dming right now), but I've played vampire masquerade, Mage ascension, Warhammer 40k Inquisition (both editions), apocalypse world and a few others I can't remember. I love to be descriptive with my characters actions, especially in combat, as I love roleplay and combat. I'm less interested in traditional puzzles, but I am very interested in worlds of intrigue and mystery. I consider myself a team player, giving every other player the space and limelight, especially the DM. Hope I can play, you lot sound like the group I'm looking for.
Hello, I'm a 28 years old portuguese guy. Currently working in Poland (Sunday all shops are closes so I have all the free time I need :).
My first D&D experience was arround 8 years ago with 5e as a Monk (Way of the Open Hand) character. Unfortunatly none of the campaigns I played went over level 9. I would say my favorite part of the game is to live my character. To create someone with some guide lines but "learn" the full personality on the first sessions, because even if you have a full ideia what you want to do in the moment everything can change. I always considered my character as a support one because I like to learn of my companions stories and bring the best of them to light.
Timewise I'm currently able to read daily even during work (I'm reading The Wandering Inn, if you haven't hear of it I recomend giving it a shot). I think one of my downsides here would be my writing abilities, but as everything else it is something one can improve with time and practice.
Hi I’m a 23 years old player currently based in US. I’m pretty new to playing DnD, but I’m into creative writing, and sculpting and living a character is what appeals to me about this game. I enjoy role playing and interacting with other PCs and NPCs like how my characters would. It's the blend of storytelling through my own role playing and watching other PCs and NPCs play out their own stories that keeps me enchanted with this game.
If the place is still open, and you think I may be someone that aligns with your expectations, please reach out!☺️
