Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online using D&D Beyond’s Play-By-Post (PbP) Experience: New and experienced Timezone: Pacific Time Schedule: Weekdays from 3 PM PDT to 10 PM PDT Roles sought: 4 Players - Level 1 character creation using only the players handbook. Game style: Casual roleplay.
This will be my first time running a PbP. I DMed this one-shot before with my pen and paper group and finished in less than 4 hours. Being a PbP, I’m not sure how long will take to finish. Post your interest by covering the points below. Thanks!
Player information: age, time zone, and profession
D&D Beyond’s Play-by-Post and 5e experience.
Character that you would like to play: Race, class, and background.
What is the reason you find that race/class interesting to play as?
D&D Experience: No experience playing D&D 5E, but I've spent a lot of time learning the rules to avoid being a dead weight on a group.
Character Info: High Elf Wizard
Background: Ototh was identified as a magical prodigy at a young age, and was sent to develop his gifts at a prestigious school of wizardry. Though he continued to excel throughout his youth, cracks in his facade began to show as his attitude and behavior began to become a problem for both his peers and mentors. His unyielding thirst for knowledge and abrasive personality earned him few friends. One day, during a practice duel with his chief instructor, he was defeated several times in a row. Enraged, he lashed out with a horribly destructive spell that killed his beloved mentor.
He was expelled from the school and exiled from the surrounding lands, but Ototh would have left anyways. He was consumed with remorse for his behavior, and vowed to use his talents to protect others above all else in hopes of atoning for his mistakes.
Reasons Behind My Character: I've always been partial to magic users in nearly every fantasy setting I've explored. They've always provided an endless variety of personalities and stories for me to conjure up, pun intended. Likewise the High Elves interest me because I enjoy exploring the possible implications of their longevity and attunement to nature, and how that colors their worldview.
