Hello, adventurer; our group wants to fill a spot in our ranks. We are still early in our journey (level 4, with 4- to 5-hour sessions and 75 sessions played), so it's still the early phase of our epic adventure.
Who is playing:
(We do have a Wizard/Bard, Fighter, Warlock, Rogue, and a cleric and don't want to have a class duplicate if possible)
It would help if you also were 25 plus years old; we are not young ourselves :)
Time of play: GMT +7
Please check if you have time when we play because we need to keep our play days the same.
It is a weekly Friday game; sometimes, Wednesday is an extra day.
The session starts Fridays at 8 p.m. (maybe 8.30) GMT +7 and lasts until 12 a.m
This schedule means if you are sitting in the US, it would be about 8 to 10 a.m. due to our time difference. We have a Canadian and a US player, and it works well for them with their morning coffee :)
How we play:
Reading this is important to ensure you are not wasting your time joining and being disappointed in the game because our game is different, and we know it is not for everyone.
We play an eternal living campaign, which means the world and its inhabitants are fleshed out, and it's been worked on for 30 years.
We do have a slow pace and like to give our characters time. It's a very, very slow-burn playstyle on purpose.
This gives us time for roleplay and lets our characters live their lives (roleplay soap operas).
Characters all have a fleshed-out background story that is interwoven in the campaign and is essential for the game and motivation. That means you must have a background story as it will start your character arc.
Our combat system is 80% vanilla 5e
We have homebrew rules that all aim to support a skill system and make the game less hack-and-slash but more impactful if there is a fight. (But it is still 5e). There are only a few battles, especially at the beginning of our journey.
The campaign is a long-term campaign where the players will affect what happens in the world. Your background story is very important for the campaign and is an integral part of the story.
In short:
If you are looking for a campaign in a very believable and detailed world with lots of roleplay that will last you for years, then our round is for you.
The platform:
We will use Fantasy Grounds. You, as a player, only need the free version. For the music, we use Syrinscape, and for talking, we use a Discord server.
New players are welcome, as well as veterans. We expect, however, that you are willing to learn the DnD system so that you know how to play your character. Please send me a message or post below if you have any questions.
Like Grump stated above, if you're into tons of lore, exploring, political talks(in game), crafting etc. If you can think about it there's a good chance you can do it.
Our game play time can run long sometimes depending on what's happening at times it can go 5+ hours.
We don't always get into combat, but when we do its a hell of a battle. Side note be prepared for long rp sessions with no combat, sometimes you need to sit while the rp is happening.
If you're into fast paced combat or even fast paced leveling this is not the game for you.
I play in this campaign as well (warlock). We are a really friendly bunch of people, and easy to get along with. Everyone has an important role in the story, and we really enjoy taking the time to roleplay. Combat doesn’t happen that often, but when it does, it makes it all the more special and impactful.
The world we play in is so incredibly elaborate and fleshed out that it is mind boggling. It feels like a living world, where your actions have consequences and will affect the world.
If you are looking for something different, something that is more rp than hack n slash, then this might be the right campaign for you!
Also, we joke around a lot, so must have a good sense of humour!
I'm an experienced D&D player who likes to write complex and layered characters, as well as worlds, before even beginning a new adventure in D&D. I am well versed in 5th Edition D&D, and have a plethora of characters at my disposal to propose, should the following one be declined. Also, I am 24, but do not shun me for my age, for I too wish to grow older.
The character I propose is a Dragonborn Barbarian/Paladin. I believe it fits an nice spot between the Fighter and the Charisma based characters, without stepping on the theme of anyone already present.
Roleplaying is my goal when playing D&D, but can perform in combat as well. I love making dozen of pages of backstory, lists of characters and give the DM a long list of characters and plots that they can work with me or against me. To explore the world and its people seems grand and inviting.
My discord handle is friendlydoctor. Hit me up if there is still a spot.
I'm Blake, 30 and GMT+8, if it matters. I like the sound of your campaign! I'm new to DnD but I've been playing BG3 and similar PC games for a quite some time now. I'm very invested in my character and have his entire backstory fleshed out. Here is a brief summary:
A middle child to a human father and elf mother, Theneras was born into the prestigious House Aurelius of Waterdeep, recently elevated merchant nobility with widespread trade across the Sword Coast. In his adolescence, silvery scales manifested upon Theneras' skin, imbuing him with a chilling aura. Soon, Theneras’ appearance attracted unwanted attention, and one day larger noble boys attacked him, scarring his brow. In self defense, Theneras unwittingly unleashed draconic magic, a blast of cold energy that severely injured the bullies. This put the family’s social standing in jeopardy and his father harshly berated him as weak and out of control. Seeking to overcome his weakness and understand his emerging sorcerous gifts, Theneras studied vigorously at Blackstaff Academy. There, he excelled in both ice magic and combat, but to his mother’s disapproval, learned to habitually hide his scales with a Disguise Self spell.
By 20, Theneras had joined the family business, specializing in the discovery, acquisition, and trade of magical artifacts. His aging father, ever confronting mortality, pursued profits relentlessly but Theneras' ageless mother believed in philanthropic ideals. As corruption spread and disputes intensified, disillusionment set in by age 30. Thus, with his ex-adventurer mother’s blessing, Theneras chose a life of adventure as an artifact hunter, a life that offers escape from familial strife and noble politics while uncovering secrets of his rare heritage. And perhaps, his future accomplishments may finally win him his father’s approval.

Hi, not sure if it's too late now but I would love to join this group if a spot is still available.
I'm 37 years old and live in Sydney (GMT+11 atm thanks to daylight savings). Been playing various ttrpgs for almost 10 years now over various format (pbp, IRL and, thanks to Covid, online). I love long DnD sessions - 5+ hours sounds heavenly - and RPing has been the highlight of playing 5e for me.
While there are many "builds" I'd like to try out, I don't have a character pre-made, per se, as I prefer making the character after understanding what the world is like and, in this case, the pre-existing group dynamics, in order to ensure that the character would fit in well within the setting and the group.
Hopefully, I haven't missed the boat! If the spot is still available, my discord is reinera :)
Same as the person above, I'm not sure if you guys are still open but the events described really seem like my jam, bread and butter for those foolish enough to butter their PB&J sandwiches.
I'm about 20 so not quite as old as you like so I hope thats not too much of an issue. I live in the U.S. but the time you put does work for me, I would just need to wake up a little sooner. I have been playing D&D for nearly 3 years now so most certainly not an expert and still learning every step of the way. A 5 hour session does seem a bit long, but so long as we take potentially a 10 minute break every 2 hours or halfway in, I should be fine and it would be a blast to have the story progress so well.
I don't have a set idea for a character as of yet, I usually prefer to work with the DM to create an idea that will fit into their world but I do have one I have been meaning to play involving a witch, giants and rune magic.
My discord name is Persian_Jesus please feel free to send me a friend request if you guys are still taking players.
Hi there, I know this is an older post but I'm a newbie interested in starting to play dnd or other tabletop rpgs. I've never played before but I watch a lot of dnd related content online so I think I have a rough understanding of the rules. I'm open to playing any type of character and would be happy to develop one that fits the world. I'm a 24 year old woman based in NZ. If yall are still looking for a person just let me know!
I'm very interested in this campaign and would love to make a character to fit in and not duplicate any classes. I can write a great backstory for her. My discord is OnlyStar1223

I am the priest in this group. It is a lot of fun. Everybody has it's own story arc and many of our actions really effect the world.
The world is really well developed bu our GM - every single village is alive with characters and places to explore.
We are roleplay heavy, but have fights from time to time. Those fights are awsome tactical.
So who likes to roleplay is right here. The campaign is supposed to go on for years to come.
Greetings. This sounds rather interesting.

It is a prolonged game that is more of a soap opera live simulation than a combat-heavy high-octane game.
Really interesting and intruiging, but unfortunately I can't stay up late or risk pains on the next day
if you still have openings, i'm interested. tho if the schedule is definite, i'm not gonna be able to attend every 3 weeks due to work shifts

We still have this great spot open in our D&D Epic soap opera :)
