Hello everyone. I am a GM trying to build a small community of players for weekly one-shots and campaigns.
I plan on running a “Monster of the Week” one-shot where folks can play without committing to a whole campaign, try different character builds, or dip your toe in the TTRPG scene if you’re new. I’m addition to MotW there will be occasional one shots on Wednesdays.
I also plan on running a campaign on Sundays, but you will have to apply to it and community members will be able to vote for what campaign we’re going to play. I hope to get started in the next couple weeks.
Current Schedule
Monday (7-10 pm, EST) Monster Mondays - Monster of the Week
Wednesday (7-10 pm, EST) One-Shot Wednesdays
Sunday (5-10 pm, EST) Campaign day - Campaign TBA
If you’re interested respond to this thread with a brief introduction of yourself! Looking forward to hearing from ya'll.
Hello! I am a relatively new player, but have jumped in headfirst!
Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online, discord/voice chat Experience: New-ish (see below) Location/Timezone: Boston MA. US Eastern Time Availability: Can play weeknights after work (pretty flexible), and/or weekends (also pretty flexible) (might be unavailable some Sundays 4-8 PM ET) Preferred role: Player, can do just about any class except warlock (already got one in a campaign) Game style: Prefer combat, RP, and would rather avoid 18+ content.
Paid: Unable to pay for play at this time, but can promise enthusiasm and fun
I (35M) started getting into D&D 5e at the beginning of this year, and I am in love. Have watched a bunch of Critical Role and Dimension 20. Read the entire free DNDBeyond rules book. Have participated in two D&D sessions so far: a lvl 2 bard in a one-shot, and a lvl 6 warlock in a campaign that plays once every 2-4 weeks. SO MUCH FUN, but I'm craving more! It's creative and exciting and social. I'd like any other one-shots or a more consistent campaign. I'm using DNDBeyond basic/free set. Can also likely pull in others if needed (significant other, brothers, a few other friends). Primarily looking for voice comms (not play-by-post), and am open to pure vocal or a virtual table top or anything you recommend. Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks very much in advance
Awesome! Sorry it took awhile to get back to you, I am not on D&D Beyond much. I only put 18+ because I consider campaigns "rated R" but if you listen to Critical Role it won't get any worse than that. I use Roll20 as a VTT and Discord to host "the table". There are many opportunities for one-shots and I will be doing a campaign pretty soon. Also this isn't a pay to play game, I don't charge anything. There is a donation link if you want to pitch in though, but no pressure. Let me know if that sounds like your thing and I'll send you the Discord link.
Ah yes that is A-Okay! I've been reading forums and whatnot and many games seem to have explicit/graphic depictions of stuff that turns my stomach (SA etc...) which I am 100% not here for.
Sounds like this would be a great fit! I can do any day of the week Eastern Time (after work on weekdays), or Saturdays. Sundays will be tough for me which is a bummer because I'd love another campaign!
Hi!!! I'd be really interested in joining!! I'm in the EST time zone myself, and those days work shockingly well for me as it blends well with my college schedule. but enough of that here just some stuff about me!
my name is Roxy! I'm 18, 19 in the summer, and i attend a library program at my local college! I've been playing 5e for a few years now, but my first love for rpgs will always be monster of the week. The first system I got into was MOTW and I'm only now running a pbp campaign for some friends but i would love the chance to play! I listen to only ttrpg podcasts, such as just roll with it and taz amnesty (my first ever) and I have a huge interest in horror and fantasy themes!
Awesome. I expect the campaign to fill up super fast so that's ok if you can't make Sunday. A big part of this project is to create a tight-knit community of players so we can all play and talk and joke about D&D a whole bunch lol. And there will be ample opportunities to play one-shots, try out characters for campaigns elsewhere, etc.
Also really!? People are like, advertising things like SA here? That's a little weird. In addition to this community, you might try r/lfg on Reddit, seems like there's less of that stuff there. Like, I'm a fan of horror so I might do some gritty descriptions but like I mentioned, nothing worse (or as good) as what Matt Mercer is saying. And for your conscience, SA, animal cruelty, child abuse, and excessive torture are all lines I won't cross. It may be very lightly alluded to you know, make the bad guys more detestable, but never explicitly described or going into detail. I don't have the stomach for that either.
Nice! Just to make sure your not misled, I am doing a D&D 5E "Monster of the Week." I actually didn't realize there was a system by that name so I'll check that out. My MotW are just little 5E one-shots where I give ya'll a quick little story and throw you up against a monster! I got the idea while I was reading the monster manual. I just love monsters so much! The levels will vary. This week is level 12 which filled up, but next week is level 4. I also have a Wenesday one-shot cookin. Ultimately my idea is to create something for folks who are trying out D&D for the first time, can't commit to a campaign, or want to try out characters/builds for other games, and I'll probably put a lfg channel on the discord so people can recruit players within the community.
As for the campaign is up for a vote, with 'Waterdeep: Dragon Heist" in the lead. I'm serious about my campaigns though, so there is an application for it. The one-shots however are more loosey-goosey.
Sorry I rambled a bit, but if this sounds like your thing DM me and I'll send you a link to the Discord!
