Game: D&D 5e Group type: Face-to-face Experience: New / a few years / veteran Location/Timezone: Elizabethtown, KY Schedule: TBD; tentatively 2 Sundays each month from noon to 4pm 2pm to 6pm Roles sought: Players 2-6 Game style: Casual, mixed play style, new-player-friendly
Wine, Women, and Bard Song is a D&D group which meets at Out On The Vine wine bar Social on Main *twice a month. Although this is a wine bar, the establishment serves non-alcoholic beverages, and those who are under 21 are welcome.
* Unless there’s a scheduling conflict for the DM or not enough players show up
This group originated in the Ladies of Elizabethtown** Facebook group as a way to introduce D&D to those who had never played it before—or had never played the 5th edition ruleset before—but experienced players who are patient are also welcome.
** Men are also welcome as long as they are comfortable with being in a woman-dominated environment; those under 18 are welcome as long as they and their parents are comfortable with them potentially being exposed to adult language and situations that may arise in gameplay.
The sessions are being designed in such a way that “drop-in” players are also welcome: pre-made characters are available to pick up and the setting allows for characters to come and go with little disruption.
To ensure that there is always a fighter, a healer, or a spellcaster available to the party in every session, the DM plays a bard NPC, which is the classic jack-of-all-trades who does EVERYTHING (just not as well as the dedicated fighters/healers/spellcasters, of course). As a professional storyteller, the bard also serves as a convenient foil for exposition and is the narrator of the Campaign Log.
This has now moved to Social on Main in Elizabethtown from 2pm until 6pm, but I'm still trying to get enough players together to actually play a CAMPAIGN and not just random one-offs...
Taking a break for the holiday weekend, the next planned session is July 21, 2024.
Is your group still meeting? I just asked to join the Wine, Women, and Bard Song Facebook Group. I live in Radcliff. So does Simon, my kind of adapted son. We have been playing and running campaigns for several decades. Thanks for any information.
Hi! Just saw your post. We are still meeting, but the group is full right now: we have 8 active players who attend pretty much every session, and our games have moved (again) to Hard Knox Games on Dixie just south of Rural King. If you haven't already, be sure to visit Hard Knox or Pangea Gaming on Lincoln Boulevard to see if you can join a game there!
