Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online via Discord/Roll20 Experience: New Location/Timezone: UK Schedule: This will be a monthly game, looking to get started in August. It will take place on Sundays at 8.30pm UK time, aiming for a 3-3.5 hours. Roles sought: Player (4-5 players) Game style: This will be a heavily story/character-based game, focusing heavily on the lands you are travelling through, the goals of characters, and meeting the heroes who inhabit it. Theseus, Heracles, Jason.. all of them!
Hi all, and welcome to the wonderful world of Greek Mythology!
If you're eager to take part, I encourage you to check out the game information I've compiled here. This is my first time as a GM, and my first homebrew, so I encourage you to be patient with me. You will be my guinea pigs for this game format, but I hope we all have fun.
If possible, I would like some things from you. First, introduce yourself! Please give me your name, age, pronouns, location/timezone and one fun fact about yourself. It can be anything. I'm Mhairi, I'm twenty-size, she/her, Scotland (GMT+1) and I have an extra bone in my ankle.
I would also like to see what kind of character you're looking to play as. This doesn't need to be super in-depth, but have a look through the folder and see if there's anything that calls out to you. If you can give me a name and a brief backstory for your character, that'd be grand!
You can also include art, but please do not use AI-generated art. If you're not an artist (trust me, I'm not, stick figures are my limit), I encourage you to have a look online. There are loads of great fantasy games with good character designs! BG3, Dragon's Dogma 2 and Dragon Age are just a few. You can also use Crusader Kings 3 or even the Sims to make your character - I'm not picky. Also check out Fantasy Avatar Creators. I promise you'll find something, I would just rather not have AI art associated with this game. Thank you for understanding!
A few ground rules as well - I expect everyone to be treated with respect. Sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism and racism will not be tolerated. GM is a queer, disabled woman. Let's all respect each other, yeah?
For player and GM comfort, I would prefer applications to only be from those aged 18 or over. Thanks for your understanding!
Hi! This looks very interesting. Are you open to fairly new players? I've played BG3 and a few sessions of 5e with some friends but outside of that I don't have any actual play experience.
First is that you said it’s a monthly game, so that would be once a month if I’m not mistaken? Is there potential for games to be more frequent or is it just one session a month.
Second is if knowledge of Greek mythology is needed, I know odds and ends from seeing things growing up but nothing in depth. Would this be a problem for you?
Third would be that you listed that other standard classes other than wizards are allowed. I’m assuming artificer is not allowed as it’s from a separate book? Also wondering about subclasses since it wasn’t mentioned other than the god specific ones you’ve made for clerics.
Hey! This looks really cool! I’m Evie I’m 21 years old, she/her and I’m from the Netherlands. I can fit in a travel sized suitcase.
if it comes to what I would like to play, I’m not sure yet. I love to make a character related to hades. Or the daughter of medusa, Poseidon did get his way with her so who said it never happened.
i have a bunch of experience both as player and dm so if you ever have a question you can always ask me😊 I also home brewed my campaigns so if you ever get stuck feel free to ask I’m always happy to help!

Hey, all good!
First off, yeah, it'll be once a month. I start back at uni in October and I want to make sure I'm not burning out when I go back. The first couple of sessions will be more regular, as I want to do 1-1 sessions with each player after we start, but after that we'll settle into once a month. After I see how that's going and how I'm coping, I might go to fortnightly, or every three weeks, but this isn't a guarantee. The only time I would probably definitely look to doing games more regularly would be on my holidays from college (May to October), with player approval, but again no guarantee.
Second - not vital! In some ways this could be beneficial to you, as you would be going in without bias. I'm a Classical Studies student, promise I'll keep you right, but I won't be staying 100% faithful to every single myth anyone. No fun in playing around in a story that's been spoiled for you for 4000 years.
Regarding Artificer - that one slipped my mind, to be honest. I'm generally trying to stick to magic being divinely granted eg. warlocks gain it from the Gods, sorcerers have family who gained it from the Gods. While Alchemists do get their magic, in general, from the same source as wizards (ie study) I might be willing to work with players who have a particularly amazing character idea to work around that. Perhaps they've studied with Hephaestus or Hecate to gain their powers? There are always options. Subclasses will be available, planning to work on sorcerers and warlocks tonight. Main reason I started with clerics is because they were the 'big job', getting their subclasses at level one and I knew I was going to need at least twelve, and I needed to sort out their domain spells. This took a while. I slept very well last night 😂
Hey, I've read through most of the documents and honestly this looks so incredible, I would love to join the campaign if there's spots available still.
Some information about me, for now I'm Kaslan (not to dox myself on open forums and all), He/Him, a 24 yo Software Student, I'm a run of the mill computer and video games nerd, and since a couple years ago a DnD one as well, I've played in a couple DnD campaigns before and I'd love to join this one.
I don't have a great idea for a character yet since I'm writing this mid-lecture but I can get back to you on that later on discord or in DMs if you'd like.
Hey there, this sounds amazing! I love greek mythology and I think that's SUCH a great idea to make a dnd game around it! If there's any openings still available, I'd love to jump in!
Some info about me, I'm Jaymie, she/her, 25. I'm from the american midwest, so CST, out here living in the middle of a cornfield, and I do embroidery for a living! I'm a forever DM that hasn't been able to properly play in games in such a long time so I have a cache of characters built up over time that I've never been able to use.
Some of my preferred characters include an aasimar cleric of war (in this world I think they'd be a cleric of Ares or, if you'd allow it, a cleric of Nemesis), a harengon druid, and a changling warlock. Among other character ideas that aren't as fully fleshed out (leonin barbarian/fighter, satyr wild magic barbarian, genasi draconic sorcerer) so I'm a pretty open, flexible player haha. I love roleplaying and telling stories and I always do my best to get into character. And, if it helps, I'm definitely a big red button pusher.
This all sounds incredible and I really love all of the thought you’ve put into it. Honestly it sounds like the kind of game I’d love to play and get to experience. Unfortunately I prefer weekly/fortnightly session as the rhythm/flow of a game tents to stagger and things aren’t always as fresh in the mind as they could be. I completely understand your reason for doing so though, with uni and things you need to prioritise and make sure it doesn’t affect your studies.
The campaign sounds amazing though and you’ve clearly put so much thought into it. I also appreciate you asking to not use ai art and listing alternatives. Fiverr is also another good one for that, where you can get some great yet affordable art. Just be sure to avoid the ai bots selling their “hand drawn” paintings.
So while it seems this won’t be the game for me, thank you for answering my questions and I wish you all the best with the game and your studies!
This sounds super cool and if you are still looking for players, I’d love to be considered. My name is Alekto, she/her, 40, PST (California), I like to sculpt gnomes out of clay. I have some experience as a player, but not a lot. I’m looking for a good group to join at a pace that won’t overwhelm me. I don’t have a set character idea yet, but I think tied to Hephaestus in some way would be fun.
OH MY GOD THIS LOOKS AMAZING, genuinely like seriously oh my god. This is so well thought out and genius. I do have an idea for a character. It would be a minotaur that was raised by giants, but after being attacked by poachers the giant family is killed. Our dear protagonist, Fivel, vows to get vengeance against those poachers and does so by joining the army, rising up the ranks until he can find the poachers and kill them. Of course since this is Greek mythology minotaur's are usually considered evil in this world so I'm open to changing my race in all honesty.
My name is Alex and my time zone is GMT. I've not played the most of DND, only just coming up to a year. But I really am excited to play this campaign. I'm 19 and currently going through University. I also like to bake as well as going shopping with my friends.
My username on discord is manmadebongo240, and I know you said you filled all the spots but just in case one becomes open I'd like to throw my hat in the ring.
