Currently looking to start a group to run a series of one month modules within a larger campaign in the Portland, OR area. I decided I would gauge interest first before I reach out to places like Guardian Games, Red Castle or Otherworlds (you locals know these) and try to rent a table for a month at a time.
The party will be capped at 4-5 players, as I find this number maximizes player involvement and limits downtime between turns. I currently have three spots to fill. Priority will go to people who have never played DnD before and are trying to find a community where they can learn.
This will be a very player-centric series of adventures to let people learn the system, tell their character’s story, and have a rad time rolling some dice with other gamers.
Players are more than welcome to use paper sheets but anyone who signs up will have access to my legendary account and 100% of what DnD Beyond offers. I would prefer players use DnD Beyond so I can see what everyone is bringing, but it’s not a necessarity.
As of now two confirmed players are women, who I have DM’d for before, and they are lobbying for more female players.
The setting will be GrimDark Faerun. Please DM me with interest. Again, I am trying to gauge interest and have a tentative date set for July 15 or 22. My work schedule is about to change and that is currently hindering setting anything in stone.
===> Here is the intro:
You have heard by now what the elders have decided?"
Lord Balazar sits wrapped in his dark cloak behind a plain but sturdy oaken desk. The red dragonborn spins a black pommel dagger against the the wood, watching small splinters curl up under the razor point of the silver blade. The office where he sits is plain, undecorated, save for a longsword set over the hearth in its dark brown leather scabbard. The day is dark and a chill can be felt in the air. The lighting from the fire ablaze within the hearth casts cold abstract shadows about the room. Balazar looks up, eyes weary yet fierce under his scaled brow.
"With new reports coming in daily our agenda has been pushed ahead of schedule. The lords in the surrounding areas have been given notice that our hunters will act with full immunity. Judge, jury and executioner. We have received complaints, but no real push back as they realize their error in dealing too softly with this new evil."
News of the Council's edict had spread quickly among the multiple orders. They had decided that while each order had done well against their chosen enemy, new tactics were now needed. Smaller bands of hunters were being established with representatives from among the different orders. Those who spent winters hunting the lycans along the Spine of the World now rode out with hunters keeping the lands near Barovia clear of vile thralls. Each would share bloody tradecraft with their fellows.
"The other members of your party arrived earlier and now wait outside," his head tips towards the door leading back to the stables of the compound. Outside the cold winds howled against the building, trying to find weakness among the unyielding stone walls.
"Remember. Hesitate for a second and it could be your life."
The knife continues to spins as the door opens and shuts. Chaotic pattern growing in its wake.
Evil never sleeps. Werewolves prowl the countryside dragging villagers into the night. Demons crawl from the spaces between the planes to feast on the souls of the innocent. Vampires turn victims into their thralls, enslaving towns and casting a reign of terror over surrounding provinces. However, light will always pierce the dark.
The Council of Blood has gathered and voted upon a new edict within their orders. A new force made of different Oath members will ride forth to stem this tide of evil that threatens all life upon the Material Plane. These Blood Hunters will be given the full backing and resources of the council in their quest. The Ledger must be balanced, no matter what the cost to the Orders.
This mini-campaign is designed for up to four to five level one Blood Hunters. Any races from official material are appropriate for use. Alignment must be Good (Lawful, Chaotic, Nuetral). Attributes are point buy.
Again, any interest would be much appreciated. I would have tried to reach out to MeetUps but that environment seems to give advantage to more experienced players.
