Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online (Discord, and I have the most experience with Owlbear Rodeo + DDB, but open to simple options. Neither of us are especially tech savvy.) Experience: She's got a few years under her belt and I'm a forever DM veteran of 10 years Timezone: She's PST, I'm EST Availability: Generally flexible, but due to timezone discrepancy, the weekend, specifically Sunday would be preferred, especially earlier in the day if possible. Preferred role: Player Game style: 60% RP (including NPC social/intrigue -- everything done IC unless otherwise stated) 20% Well-Executed Worldbuilding (ESPECIALLY if homebrew) 15% Combat 5% Creative & player-honoring Rule of Cool
Bestie says that in my time as a DM, I've spoiled her. I say I just have high expectations for any DM I play under.
We both expect a roleplay-heavy experience, and our player characters always play off one another like PB&J. That doesn't mean we're a cliquey group, not at all, but something is lost in the experience if there's one without the other. We've played sibling characters, best friend characters, married characters, and characters using each other for 5D chess. Every duo we play is as dynamic as we are. We want to make fully realized characters in whatever world you DM for in a place where they can stretch their wings and be fully appreciated for what they are. We're both writers, and this comes through in our character craft. We want them to fit in with your party with likeminded players -- and with that, we love to play off the others in the party too. As players, we spread the love to everyone we can! Not that all of our characters are naturally gregarious, but if one of us is playing a quieter sort, the other will drag that quieter character into trouble with a capital T, and found family the heck out of the party if that's the vibe.
I have had some poor experiences with a variety of old DMs who've burned me, so that's inspired my DMing style, which is what my bestie is used to. I'm a stickler about Rule of Cool making players feel awesome, especially because I've had DMs make my player characters not feel cool to play. I make the world living and breathing, such that time will go as time does because I live for that and I have had DMs put saving the world on pause because they didn't really feel like prepping on a given week. I'd always use player backstories because my multi-page backstories only ever got cursory glances despite being character-defining documents because I went too deep with it. Tangentially, I'm also lowkey inspired by the work of Matthew Mercer, Brennan Lee Mulligan, etc, so my DMing is also paired with strong, memorable NPCs (in part to fill the void left by being a forever DM) and a world that feels very real despite every deceit set up for it.
Because we've been playing a lot of RP-heavy BG3 to fill the void left by having a distinct lack of shared table space, we'd prefer something set in Faerûn, especially on the Sword Coast, because we'd love to adapt our Tavs for a real campaign. (Baldurian entertainer bard/paladin + Neverwintan urchin ranger/rogue who spent abundant time in Waterdeep, if you're wondering.) I have already played through most of Critical Role's Call of the Netherdeep, so for now I would rather not play too much in Tal'dorei. I've never played any of the 5e modules, so I'm especially interested in a Curse of Strahd as it's very well-known and highly acclaimed, but I'd really just like to try the written modules as a whole. Probably not Wild Beyond the Witchlight, as our current Saturday session, which I'm running, has a Feywild theme, too. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
While we don't expect perfection (or a clone of my own DMing style, for that matter) I know we expect a lot, so we're open to our options right now, and that includes a good PBP or paid (within reason) option if it's the right table for us.
I saw your post about looking for some dnd games and I have qute an assortment of options ! But before that, could I ask you what the best times would be for you ? On top of it, pls reach out to my discord (tag is elemium) and we can discuss details there !
I do paid games, but usually they are 15 USD for 3 hour session on module and 20 USD for 3 hour sessions of Homebrew, just because it does take more time to fully prep homebrew encounters.
Hey there my names Jordan! I currently have a Curse of Strahd, She is the Ancient game that I'm looking for players for. The game is roleplay heavy and thick on the gothic horror. Curse of Strahd is by far my favorite module and I've put a ton of work and personal flavor into this one to bring out its best bits. The game plays 8:30pm EST on Wednesdays and runs about 3-4 hours, if that time could work for the two of you, and I ask $20 per session.
Here's a link to the game if you'd like to read a little more or sign up, you're also welcome to message me here or there any questions or requests, I'm happy to answer! Would love to have ya'll!
I host a paid bi-weekly game on Sundays at 2 PM EST, focused heavily on role-playing, with plenty of mystery and homebrew lore to uncover. I believe it could be a great fit for you both. The cost is currently $22 per seat per session, but I'm open to discussing budgets if needed. I love DMing and meeting new players, and I think you would fit in well with the group. Just to let you know, we already have 3 other players—a mix of 2 women and 1 man.
Hey, everyone! We're currently still looking for a game, I've just been busy getting squared away with a new job. Lemme just go down the list of what we have here:
@Elemium, we listed our preferences in the ad -- so if you have something within those parameters I'd be open to discussing it. I responded to your DM with the same (since it's the same exact message) -- we may talk it out there if you'd prefer.
@Jordan, because it runs 3-4 hours I'm worried it may wear me out and not be a terribly good fit since I have to be up at 7am EST for work. I love the sound of your game and I would be willing to work with you if you had something on a Friday or a Sunday afternoon. I'm very interested in a dressed up Strahd game, it sounds like a load of fun.
@Charlie, what's the cost on this game? Do you have any further details? I don't like joining Discord servers blindly without having the full rundown on what I'm getting into.
@DBN, the PBP listing says there's a time involved. Is this synchronous or asynchronous, and if synchronous, what's the time investment you expect for players to face?
Hey @Alisharni ! The play by post game is asynchronous. We just have to put the time up to initiate the listing. If y’all were to join the game would start and then the general expectation is players check in once a day at least, but can respond as much as you want. There is currently one other player, so the game will be half full if you were to join.
If the Sunday game is out of your price range I’m glad to talk that over too.
You are more than welcome to message me on the website or over discord at: dm_dbn. If you need to add me as a friend go for it.
With the new D&D ruleset coming next month I've fiddled with the listing a bit. I've also been in talks with another potential player who can't go later than midnight and have hard capped the campaign at 3 hours. Unfortunately I don't have any availability for Friday or Sunday. If that midnight end time could work I'd love to have ya'll, if it doesn't though I wish you all the luck finding the perfect game!

Hey, Astartes, looking at your other ads, where you list price, this is looking to be out of our budget range. Thanks regardless!
