Tales of Symphonia campaign. Mondays Weekly Starting Time 8PM CST. 18+

I go by John/Johnathan. I'm 33. Living in Mississippi. I've been playing for 6 years and DM'ing for about 4 years.

I just finished my 2nd long term campaign and now I'm starting a new campaign based off the Tales of Symphonia videogame. The group would be about 4-6 players with characters starting at Level 1. I'm not too sure on the schedule yet, so I'm posting this to see what kind of times people are looking for. Most likely it'll be any day of the week (except for Sunday) starting no earlier than 8 PM CST. So it looks like we'll be doing Mondays starting at 8 PM CST. My games tend to run for 2.5-3.5 hours, so keep that in mind. The actual start date of the campaign is yet to be determined, so it's unlikely to start until next month.

The sessions will be held on Discord and Roll20 (mic required/webcam optional). I'll be including dynamic lighting whenever possible. I tend to lean more combat than RP (60/40) for my gameplay, but I expect that'll change slightly with this campaign since I already have way more established NPCs and locations than I ever did with my previous campaigns.

There are 3 big choices I'll need to make with the group during our Session Zero.
1) The videogame lore is based highly on race/species, and there's heavy themes of racism. The few races that were included were humans, elves, half-elves, and 2 dwarves. I tend to prefer my players have all the choices and access they want when it comes to character creation, so it'll need to be decided whether the group sticks only to playing half-elves, humans, and dwarves; or play whatever race you want, but throw out one of the main themes of the game.
2) There was a system called EX Skills in the game which acted mostly like feats. So instead of choosing your feats when you reach an ASI, you'll only choose ASIs and then you'll find EX Gems which I'll go into more detail during Session 0. The choice would be to either go with the Feats optional campaign, or switch to this EX Skill system.
3) And lastly, whether we use 2014/2024 rules. I own A LOT of content on dndbeyond, so as far as what kind of character you can make is really whatever's on dndbeyond. But I know there're some folks who want to pick right up with whatever's the latest edition, so I'll make that another choice among the group.

Fair Warning. This is a long term campaign. My previous campaigns have lasted at minimum a year, so I expect this one to be the same and expect the same from my players. This is a free campaign that I've spent a lot of time and effort on, so I only ask that you give me the same.

Updated to Mondays with 2 slots now available. It also seems as the EX Skill system is likely to be the choice the players are moving towards. Which races/species will be used is still TBD, and it's more likely that we'll be staying with the 2014 rules.
