Looking for players for a quick 2-3hr one shot session to experiment with DDB's new map feature! Should be a fun mix of role playing, combat on the high seas, and intrigue in a port town called Bogwharf.
Game would run from around 12p-3p CST on 10/18/24 if there is enough interest by that time to have a party of 3-5 players. We would use the DDB maps tool for a virtual tabletop and discord for voice.
While this has the potential to span more sessions from roughly levels 1-10 in the future, I can’t commit to a campaign until I’ve found the right crew. If this were to turn into a recurring campaign we would likely meet every other week on a weekday, pending everyone's availability =)
The Isles of Jahara are an archipelago isolated from the rest of the realm. The islands contain harsh, unsettled, and foreboding jungles. They are a naturalist’s paradise full of countless exotic animals, plants, and environments. The islands runs rich with natural resources, including deposits of the coveted mineral "etherium", which is used in the forging of magical items. There were several ancient civilizations that harnessed etherium to build epic empires and legendary artifacts, including the fabled dwarvern mines of Slagforge, the elegant elvish forests of Elisvere, and the ornate human keep of Riven. The former capital, Jaharia, was once a sprawling, magical, tropical paradise known for its exports of magical items, etherium, exotic spices, and vibrantly dyed textiles.
How ruin befell all of these places remains a mystery. Legends whisper of a massive tsunami that drowned out land and washed these societies' artifacts throughout the isles. The only known settlement remaining within the islands is the dingy port town of Bogwharf. This grungy settlement is built within a swamp, and is both haunted and plagued by legions of undead assailants. Unfortunately, it exists as the last bastion of civilization within the islands, and serves as the only launching point for expeditions deeper into the wilderness.
Only the most courageous or foolish of people travel to Jahara willingly. Naturalists may be drawn there to marvel in and protect some of the realms most exotic wildlife. Arcanists may be drawn there by the promise of newfound or lost magics within the enchanted tanglewoods. Holy men may be drawn there by the call to fight back the undead legions amassing on the islands. Criminals may be drawn there to escape their past. Merchants may seek to harness some of the island's rich natural resources. Miners may bee seeking deposits of etherium ore to turn around for profit. Scholars may be drawn there to study extinct civilizations. Adventurers may seek to recover powerful magical artifacts from the ruins therein.
Your hero’s story begins on a ship traveling to Bogwharf. You have been at sea for over a month and have recently spotted land for the first time in ages.
What did your hero do before this journey to Bogwharf?
Why is your hero drawn to the Isles of Jahara?
How might your hero have ties to someone else in the adventuring party?
We will be exclusively using the 2024 PHB classes/subclasses/species to create characters. You are the heroes in this story and no evil alignments will be allowed. Use standard array or point buy for ability scores. You will start at level 1 and advance to level 2 during the session, so it would be helpful to plan out your choices for the level up. You could also use a first level pre-generated character for grab and go play.
Post a link to your character below and leave your discord tag if you're interested!
This particular session will focus on arriving to the Isles of Jahara, exploring the town of Bogwharf, and starting to get to the bottom of "The Haunting" that plagues the land.
This game takes place within my homebrew world Ashara. For more information about the realm's deities, factions, and cities - feel free to check out the Traveler's Guide to Ashara.
he is a member of a small noble house that gains most of thier wealth from trading goods by ship. the youngest of three siblings puts him in a possion where he has to prove him self and a childhood fascination with the open seas draws him to The Isles of Jahara. where he hopes to bring someting back that proves his wourth. what would tie him to anybody is if they have a history of sailing, trading or sellsword for noble families.
Looks like we'll have to push this back to a later date to have time and space to get some more players. I'll now be targeting 10/18/24 from 12p-3p CST if you are still available and interested =)
If you are still looking for a party member - i am a newb but am available at that time and have a couple of characters drafted to choose from. I do need to enter them into DDB but in the meantime - discord is murffrum
I’m interesred, if you are still looking. You’ll find me on discord as senor_de_la_mazmorra
I am a Paladin of Lady Light and member of the Dawntreaders. My older brother Cedric recently led a small scouting party of Dawntreaders to Jahara to gather information on its current state, none if them have reported back. I am going to Jahara to find my brother.
Hey there, your story sounds intriguing and I also took a liking to your document and the sources you drew inspiration from. I cant commit time to making an elaborate character unless I know I will/would be accepted to partake in your session. I hope you can understand that. I am not sure I might be a good fit, because I am a complete newcomer to DND with only experience in listening to DND campaigns and reading some books. I could'nt find any info or might have overseen it, regarding player experience, so let me know if this would be a problem. If not I would be eager to join :)
