Aldamore is one of the great cities within the borders of the Khasain Empire. A large bustling city, that grew to prosperity from its variety of exports, and is currently held in the highest regard throughout the empire as well as some of the rest of the world. However, in the mouths of the outside world the first thing usually mentioned is the circular wall called The Sky Wall, who’s name comes from the wall’s towering size, rumored to stand at 500 ft tall. It establishes the borders of the city and has entrances at North, East, West, and South. The second is another wall, named The Ice Crowned Wall, standing at 250 feet and dividing the city into an inner ring and an outer ring.
The inner ring is a place many are thankful to be in and others aspire to make their way into. This is where the middle-upper class to the extremely wealthy have made their home. When people think of the city, they usually picture this portion. Full of buildings and hurried citizens making their way through their daily lives. The government finds its home here as well, with Lady Vanora’s Estate residing in the center of the city and doubling as the city’s main governmental building. The barracks and prison reside close by, being the HQ for the military police. Those aside, this part of the city boasts about its economic commodities like The Aldamore Amphitheater, Crimson Ruby Casino, Aldamore Bazaar, Danus Row, Borin Industries, Wildwood Academy and more. In the inner wall you will find at bare minimum a comfortable life, and for some, a luxurious one.
In the outer ring, not so much. Within the outer ring exist many places that still contribute to the city’s prosperity, like the Farmlands, the Sangol Mines, and Lake Kansen. Regardless, most of the population in the outer ring are lower class to the poorest of the poor. Because of this, the outer ring is known as a more lawless place, where unsavory characters are a little safer than being in the inner city.
Aside from little gangs and crews that have formed, the criminal faction that stands above them all, are the Grey Moths, being more of an organization than a gang and known to regulate the underworld, or at least as much as it can be regulated.
If one wishes to make it into the inner ring from the outer ring it is possible, but not easy. They could take their chances in the Abyss fighting for a conscription spot in the MP. Or they could find another way. The way many people put it, is that one has to “demonstrate their worth” rather it be to the military, to an aristocratic family, or the city as a whole, and even then, that doesn’t guarantee entry. Aside from The Abyss, few have made it from the outer ring into the inner one.
Rarely do everyday people leave the outer ring of the city. Mostly exports and material goods are the only things that leave on the trade caravans that the Lady and her council organize. Being as prosperous and self-sufficient as the city is, there are family lineages who have lived in Aldamore since its founding and never left. It was, and still is, a “City of Opportunity” for a lot of people.

About Your DM
Hello my fellow D&D lovers. My name is Marcus and I’ve been DMing for about 5 years and a player for about 8 years. My style and this campaign tends to lean on the darker and grimmer side and always involves heavy roleplay from my end. We will use roll 20 for the visuals in and out of combat along with theatre of the mind for some parts. Admittedly, I’m not the best voice actor but I can always promise to try. Above that I can promise that the world and each character the party comes across will offer depth as deep as the party wants to explore.
A world where you can interact with anyone and where the major players aside from the party are making moves behind the scenes while the party is, is the world I love to run. I also don’t like my players to feel restricted when playing the game. Got a weird idea in combat and want to try it? Fear not, I encourage the rule of cool just as much as I encourage accepting punishment for risky gambles.
I also really enjoy incorporating the PC’s into the world so don’t hesitate to add any ideas to the world from creating your character or to tie them into existing plot lines! That’s where the most fun is for me. Working out and weaving everything into a well told, moving story and watching the party help shape that story through action.
Over the years I’ve crafted a homebrew universe (basically a module at this point) of my own, and a campaign of my own called The Tale of Aldamore, a Lovecraftian Horror campaign that my friends played through in college for 2+ years. We’ll be using DND 5e as the base game system, along with some homebrew elements and systems that will be handed out once the group is set. I’ve revamped and improved the campaign for the most modern system and for the future players I get to take along the journey, and I look forward to playing with whoever comes along. Beginners and experienced players are welcome!
