Hello everyone!

I'm looking to start a homebrew campaign and share a unique world with you all. As a brand new DM, I'm aiming for a balanced mix of 50/50 roleplay and combat, though this may shift depending on how the sessions unfold. I genuinely hope to see a lot of roleplay from the group, as I want this world to be a melting pot of our stories. Let's bring in laughs, vulnerability, conflicts, voices, quirks—whatever makes our characters come alive, as long as we remain respectful of each other. 

I forgot to mention, I do plan on using the new 2024 rules. Mostly, standard classes! I have crafted a class or two and I am open to discussing the possibility of any homebrew or expanded rules subclass you may be interested in portraying.

Combat will also play a significant role, and I'll strive to include at least one combat encounter per session. If one session is heavy on roleplay, I'll balance it with more combat in the next.

I'm planning on running the campaign on Thursdays at 8pm EST. I will probably start by running it bi-weekly and them move towards weekly as I get my bearings. Given my full-time job, school, dogs, and other responsibilities, I need to be strict about our scheduling and punctuality. I want to be respectful of everyone's time as I would like them to be respectful of mine.

Additionally, while I would like to extend the invitation to everyone, I'm currently limiting the sessions to individuals of 18+ for everyone's safety. Besides that,This is a safe space for anyone of any race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.. Any discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated! Come as you are! :)

I will probably be using DND Beyond and Discord as the VTT because I have my (limited selection) of books here and do not know how to use many VTTs. I also got the subscription for the year and look forward to trying it out. I am very open to any feedback as well!

Nexum Campaign

World Overview:

Nexum is a world where nature, magic, and technology intertwine, brimming with mysteries and political intrigue. The inhabitants of this very diverse have discovered a powerful energy source known as Aetherflux, which powers their advanced technology. However, Aetherflux is highly unstable and requires continuous control by magic users, this manipulation is known as Aetherweavers. This makes magic users incredibly valuable and magical resources increasingly scarce.

While any form of magic can stabilize Aetherflux, sorcerers’ innate magic is particularly potent. However, this power comes at a cost, as the intense channeling of Aetherflux can have severe effects on their mind and body, potentially leading to insanity or death.

Aetherflux:

• Definition: Energy produced by combining natural resources with humanoid magic.
• Unstable Nature: Requires continuous channeling by Aetherweavers to remain stable.

I would be interested if you're looking for players still. How long do sessions usually run? That would be 7pm CST for me and the latest I'd be able to play for is about 3 hours because of my job.
