Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online (FaceToFace if in Austin TX) Experience: Played 4e years ago, well researched but new to 5e Location/Timezone: Central Time Availability: Flexible (Independent Contractor) Preferred role: Player Game style: I'm looking for a fun group with a sense of humor that isnt afraid of a little RP. Hoping to find an accommodating DM who can show me the ropes! As a side note, I'm an experienced digital artist and I'd be happy to do character portraits for my group :)
Hello there, I’m a relatively new DM myself. I’ve read the DMG and PHB front-to-back, so while I am quite familiar with the rules as they’re written, I’ve yet to have any experience actively running a campaign. I understand if that’s not quite what you’re looking for, as understanding the rules as they’re written will not necessarily translate directly into putting them to their best use.
But that’s also why I am primarily looking for players new to the system themselves. I want a small group of new people, taking things slow and helping each other to understand and learn the game. Currently my group consists of two people, myself the DM, and a close friend of mine. Myself being in EST, while my friend is also in central. I want to find a group of 3 to 4 players, ideally 4, as in my head at least that seems like the best balanced number for a party. So we’ll still need a couple more players if you decide to join.
We’ll be using both Roll20 and a group Discord, though I’ve yet to create the Discord. I want to come up with a good name for it, suggestions welcome by the way. Discord will primarily be for off-session discussion, but I haven’t used Roll20’s voice chat, so if it’s not very good, we’ll likely revert to Discord for that as well.
I currently plan on running a sandbox-heavy campaign in a homebrewed setting, designed to use all the official content (races, classes, monsters, etc.) Here’s a brief synopsis:
Set in a land once ruled by the gods themselves, the continent of Aileth is split between nine provinces, each the domain of one of it’s powerful god-kings. While war between the gods was not uncommon, much of it’s people prospered under their rule until an event known as the Crossing; where various planes of existence, for only a fleeting moment, became one reality. With it fiendish monsters entered the world, entire cities mysteriously appeared... and the gods themselves vanished. Some believe they abandoned their people, others believe they’re simply dead. 200 years later, the world is still in chaos, and the Council of Ruviel - a theocracy seeking to preserve Aileth and its traditions for their gods’ return - are at war with foreign invaders, the Nithian Order... Led by a man who claims to be a “new god”, he marches across the land with his army of wights, the Nameless Legion.
Apologies for the long post, figured I should be thorough. Have a nice day.
If there is still space available and depending on the days this will be held on- I was wondering if I could join as well? My timezone is also EST and I have a discord at the ready ^^”
There sure is. It's not set in stone yet, but we'll likely play bi-weekly, and it'll have to be on a weekday evening as my friend who'll be playing works weekends. If that works for you I'll send you the Discord link in DMs.
I have a 5E campaign that is currently underway, 2 of our characters will be leaving and we have room for 2 more (one is taken), it is island jumping type of campaign as there is no known large continent in this world (yet). You'd be starting at lvl 3. Anything out of the D&D books is acceptable, including Critical Role, and UA.
This world is a homebrew creation
Let me know if you are interested and I can expand on it.
It's a continuous play n post (text) as you can on discord, we are very flexible, some days we post multiple times other days nothing.
If there's still space for players, I'd really love a shot at playing a real campaign. I played a quick home-brew one shot that wasn't really within any premade system beyond the dice rolls. I'm more interested in something role-play heavy but I am open to anything.

That sounds really solid, would love to hear more about it and your other players!

That definitely works for me! Send me the link whenever you can ^^

Sorry, my campaign is now full. I can let you know if anyone drops out though.
