Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online (Roll20/Foundry + Discord) Experience: 6+ years Location/Timezone: Tues/Sun anytime || Wed/Thur/Sat 8PM CST or later
I go by John/Johnathan. I'm 33. I've been playing for over 6 years and DM'ing for about 5 years. I'm running a game on Mondays currently, but I need to satiate my appetite as a player so I'm looking to join a game on Tuesday or Sunday; I'm also available every other day of the week after 8 PM CST. I don't like the idea of paid sessions and I've never charged for a session myself. I think investing your time should be enough. I tend to play spellcasters, but I can run any class and I have loads of characters I've yet to fully explore. I'm a sucker for combat and magic items (who isn't), but I would really like to find a group who enjoys RP.
I'd prefer to stick with 2014 rules, since that's the system I'm most familiar with but it's not a dealbreaker. You can reply to this thread or pm me here for my discord info.
I hear you on wanting to get more time in the player seat—once the DM bug bites, it’s hard to find that balance again! It sounds like you’ve got a solid foundation, and I love that you’re looking for a group that values RP just as much as the mechanics. That mix of spellcasting, combat, and story-driven play is exactly where a lot of our games live.
I know you’re looking for a game right now, but I’d encourage you to consider a community-based approach instead of just hopping into another one-and-done. At Legends & Lore, we’re a group of adults who take the time to actually get to know each other. We go by first names, chat about life outside of games, and really try to recreate that “around the table with friends” feeling—even if the table’s online.
We use Foundry + Discord, stick primarily to 5e 2014 rules (with some optional content depending on the table), and we’re always looking for folks who love immersive roleplay and a good combat now and then.
We take our time bringing new people in—not as a roadblock, but because we care about making sure the group dynamic stays strong. If that sounds like your kind of pace, I’d be happy to chat and tell you more.
You can reach me on Discord: qalsip1977_99382
Either way, best of luck finding the right table—and I hope you get to bring some of those spellcasters to life soon!
I'd like to offer you a chance to join our Discord based, Westmarch style community, The Nexus. Westmarch, unlike regular campaign style form of DnD plays more like series of one shots that your characters persists between, often going under different DMs and different settings throughout their career. I think you might find that appealing as it offers you access to most magic items for your characters, separated across different tiers by blocks of levels of players. Aditionaly we allow leveling beyond lvl 20, so you could go ham with multiclassing and such. Oh and if you wanted to DM with us too, that is of course an option as well, no pressure though-

What race and class would you like to play?
As I said, I'm open to playing any class or race. I have over 100 characters that I've written about. It's really about what the group needs.
