If it meets the campaign story needs, I would enjoy playing a Dwarven Cleric in a nice story driven campaign (and of course a good battle here and there)! Last time I played a real campaign, D&D 2nd edition was just getting released. I have played only a few short hours with the new 5th edition (GM'ing for my kiddo) and wouldn't consider myself proficient, but would be a quick learner. My primary availability would be afternoons, or weekends.
Hello there, Jim ! I've got a new $5 campaign set up and I'm looking for players! It’s a a running of "Where Evil Lives" that’s inter-connected with one-shots and an underlaying plot! It comes with all sorts of fun items, battling, and even some side quests! It's open on Saturday and Sunday 2-6 pm CST! Feel Free to check it out! https://startplaying.games/adventure/cm9dfpq1a0021riv3tsx82een
We are friendly to teaching new players as well and open to the discussion of homebrew!
I'd like to offer you an invite into a westmarch style discord community, The Nexus. Westmarch is different from regular campaigns in that your character persists between different DMs worlds, essentially playing through series of one shots with different people, under different DM. Advantage is, you can find a game to play in nearly every day, disadvantage is that it does lack the usual party cohesion at first, before your character makes friends with the other PCs.
First off—huge respect for a fellow long-timer who remembers the 2nd edition days! It’s always great to see players returning to the hobby, especially with the perspective and creativity that come from years away from the table. And honestly, your enthusiasm for a good story sounds like a perfect fit for the kind of games we love to run.
At Legends & Lore, we’re a group of mature players (most of us 30s–40s and up) who focus on character-driven, story-first campaigns with just the right amount of combat to keep things exciting. What really makes our group special, though, is the community itself. We take time to get to know each other, we go by real names, and we host regular hangouts outside of game nights—trivia, board games, or just hanging out in voice chat to catch up.
We’re not a drop-in game server, and we don’t rush people to the table. Instead, we ease folks in gradually, make sure the fit is mutual, and only invite people to play once they’ve had a chance to settle in and get to know us.
You don’t need to be a 5e expert to join us—you just need to care about telling a good story with good people. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, I’d love to chat and tell you more.
