SEEKING: Friendly (emphasis on that as I have had to deal with quite a suprising number of players who WEREN'T while DMing here) non-beginner, players, who are 18+, for a long term homebrew campaign. I'm seeking to find a group of five heavy roleplayers, so please do not reply if you are going to be a lurker sitting in the background. (I also ask that people take notes as we will begin each session with me asking somebody to recap what happened the previous one)
ABOUT ME: I’m relatively new to the whole DnD scene – Know the basics, Good at crafting worlds – Use a bit of homebrew rules, and will periodically experiment with tweaking rules and such to make the game flow better, hone my craft, if you will. If the changes aren’t working as I’d hoped, I will immediately revert back. (Will absolutely inform players before I do tweak anything however. Don’t want to surprise or confuse.)
STYLE: This game is going to be a homebrew medieval high seas campaign. A campaign that should have a level of fun and frivolity while also being dark and dangerous. (For resurrection, we will be using the homebrew rules created by Matt Mercer). I simply ask players to not attempt to ruin the more intense moments with bad jokes xD
STORY CONCEPT: Group of nobodys set sail to seek an elusive treasure pirates scour the seas for. The treasure is rumored to be able to alter reality – an artifact able to grant the crew that finds it a single wish each.
CHARACTERS: Looking for Neutral Aligned Characters. (I also ask that we keep genders in this campaign simple – Male/Female, He/She – I have a difficult time keeping all this balanced in reality and thus don’t need the stress of trying to remember fictional characters genders) {Tho I have no objections to a guy playing a female/she fictional character.} This youtube clip should offer help with creating backstories if help is desired. https://youtu.be/vNA6iB6lO1w?si=we2H_ncnIQ_MF--k
REGULAR TIME: Normal meeting will be Wednesday Evenings (likely 5-8 or so). Flexibility is a bonus, as my schedule isn’t as consistent as I would like (thus being able to move to another day if that evening becomes unavailable would be great)
REQUIREMENTS: We will be using DnDbeyond for Character Sheets and Roll20 for our VTT, as well as Discord for our Mics.
{Note: Campaign will not be map heavy but I find a VTT is useful for combat scenarios. Thus, this will require the use of a computer, so I politely ask that you only respond if you have one that can handle it.)
DESIRE: Story is whacky and weird enough. Not looking for joke characters. Seeking the kinds of characters you would find in a typical fantasy world. Also, this is a good, clean, violent campaign. {So there will be no swearing or cussing allowed}.
RESPONSE: If you are interested, please respond here with: 1. Your discord name/number so I am able to reach you. 2. [Over 18 Y/N] 3. How much experience you have at DnD 4. Any idea what type of race/class you'd like to play 5. Potential Character Ideas
POST NOTE: This is a "Long Term" campaign, so please only express interest if you plan on sticking around. I've had way too many people ditch me after only a couple months or as soon as there is a slight bump in the road... after I put a great many hours, and much in session time, working thier backstories into the world.
Hi there! I love the idea of a fantasy high seas game, i've got quite a few characters im looking to play so i'd love to join if you're still looking!
You can reach me @ screm (all lowercase) on discord i am over 18! (not by much sos) i've been playing dnd for roughly 5 years, on and off during 2020-21 and almost constantly from 2022 to current day i'm honestly fine filling whatever niche a party needs to function, i love playing tanks especially but im looking to play as a spider person this time if possible! im actively working on a homebrew race for them but im thinking some kind of rogue or caster for their class, or both! as stated in the above, im working on a spider character, however i have many other characters to pick from should the party become unbalanced, need a cleric? i have an aasimar for that! a tank? an aquatic dragonborn paladin! more support? i have bards! the spider one im really hoping to play, but i know not every dm is comfortable with homebrew races, but i try my best to make mine balanced!
I hope you'll consider me for your game! and if not then good luck regardless!
3. 3 years as a player one year as a DM with a little bit of homebrew experience and I listen and watch multilple DnD/Pathfinder podcast/shows for about 5 years
4. If possible I would like to play as a warforged barbarian, but I can also fill the part needs as required
5. potential character ideas. I introduce to you "Bipedal One Automated Constructed Killer - Barbarized Thirty Fourth Rendition Droid AKA B1ACK-B34RD. Just a funny way to make a robot name spell out Blackbeard. His memory is mostly gone due to a his exceptionally long lifespan with the exception of two lines of code he has engraved remembers, combat protocols , and protect treasure.
Im willing to workshop and make changes as needed, I am very flexible as long as its fair
1. Canti/ if you like my answers do send me a message on discord as I've gotten comments that people send me requests and I don't see them.
2. Yes
3. I've got 4 years of exp as a player; none as a DM.
4.A bard or druid support sounds pretty neat/ For races either an elf for the bard or if you allow third party material there is a jellyfish person race that would fit for the druid for sure.
5. Either a bard who's a shanty singer or a druid fish man deciding to see how life is for land dwellers. I'll iron out and refine the concepts if I'm picked of course.
I am potentially interested in participating in your campaign, but I did have a couple of clarifying questions.
1) Most importantly, you say the time would be 5 - 8 on Wednesdays, but did not provide a time zone for reference. For instance, I am in the Eastern Standard Time zone (eastern US) and would be available to play after 8 PM pretty much any night of the week. So, if you are also eastern time, that would not work, but if you are Pacific Time, then it would work great.
2) Would we be utilizing the 2014 or the 2024 5e ruleset?
3) What level would our characters be starting at? Level 1 or somewhere higher?
If the timing works out, then the other two are not deal breakers one way or the other, but I was curious.
As far as your questions though:
1) phyrexianwalker03
2) I am well over 18.
3) I played a lot of D&D 3.5 when I was in high school and college, but then did not play for nearly a decade. I got back into it about 2 years ago when some students at my school asked me to sponsor a club. I have been DMing games for them using the 2014 5e ruleset ever since and really want to be able to experience D&D as a player again. I enjoy roleplay and growing my characters story. When I played in the past, I tended to be a tactical player that enjoys combining the skills of the group to solve problems, overcome difficulties, and conqueror our foes.
4) I would like to look into playing a Reborn with Swashbuckler Rogue/Warlock multiclass.
5) Broad strokes concept for the character would be a pirate (probably a quartermaster) that was betrayed by their crew and cast into the depths. In his final moments, he screamed against the water crushing into his lungs pledging his fealty to anything that would save him, grant him the strength to track down the crew that betrayed him, and gain vengeance. He was coughed up by the sea onto dry land as a reborn with all of his memories stripped away except being pushed in the back by an oar into the sea with cannonballs strapped to his legs. Vengeance as his only feeling, he arises and sets out to find them that did the pushing.
I hope the timing works out, and we are able to play together, but if not, I wish you luck on your endeavor and hope you have a terrific campaign. If the timing will work, please reach out through Discord.
