The Setting!-
The year is 996 Post-Sundering, and the diverse, seclusionist nations of A'ppo Nyi-The Wayward Lands, are stirring. Some to furthering trade, some to renewed exploration, and some to rekindled war. Beneath all, however, darker forces stir, and a long-forgotten struggle between the known gods and the hidden begins anew. Your adventure starts here.
The Campaigns!-
Wayward Lands campaigns are paid, ongoing campaigns set in a single, unified homebrew setting. Though the setting is run as a living world, the heart of each campaign is the players. The core of the game is their story, their backstories and choices, and how their tales relate to the greater events of this potentially epic setting. Mechanics-wise, all groups play weekly, and are run using a standard 5e ruleset with a few minor house-rules added to make the experience more welcoming to newer players. DM does character accents & voices! Leveling is bendchmark. Sessions run 3 to 4 hrs. The setting is a complex and mildly a-typical homebrew setting, designed to provide optimal immersion with a gentle learning curve. More specific details about logistics etc are available via PM.

Application Process-
2 Questionnaires & A Trial Run!
Step 1- Please PM me your answers to the following.
First name / preferred nickname ?
Age & preferred pronouns?
Which upcoming group are you applying to?
Have you done tabletop or other formats of roleplay before? If so- what/where/when?
What race/class would you most like to play in this campaign?
What is a quickie-version of your potential character's backstory?
What is your preferred balance of roleplay to combat in an average session?
Can you afford to commit to a long term, weekly game at the given price, (listed below in rates/disclaimer)?
What is your favorite color?
What, in brief, is the coolest RP scene you ever participated in/watched?
Step 2- Once I have your answers, I will contact you with a more detailed questionnaire on player preferences, character details and playstyle. This may involve some back & forth. Note- if you are applying for a group whose start date is later in the month, I may take a bit longer to get this stage rolling, but I'll do my best to keep you informed of what to expect!
Step 3- Should everything look good after that, I'll work with you to set up a free, group "trial run" game to complete the interview process and see if our in-action playstyles are a fit.
About The DM!-
Hi there! Name's September. I'll be your story-pilot for this evening. Buckle up! We're in for a nerdy ride! Seriously though- I am a 40-something creative writer, critter, & avid roleplay enthusiast. My DM experience began a bit unconventionally, as I gleaned most of my chops running persistent story arcs for large groups of players (30-100) in a variety of MMORPGs over the course of ~15 yrs. I have however switched over to tabletop, and am LOVING it, as it enables a much more personal, and immersive story. Oh, & I am also an artist & graphic designer. All your home-drawn maps are belong to me. :)
Rates/Disclaimer-
These games will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $12 per player, per session, via Ko-Fi. The first "trial-run" game is always free. DnDBeyond is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
Why Paid?-
A girl's gotta caffeinate! But more seriously, doing these campaigns as paid games lets me focus exclusively on delivering immersive and beautiful, personalized tales to my players. It also helps cover costs for reference materials (I have content share for the legendary bundle and more!), as well as covers labor time making game-art! Spoilers!- I also provide personalized character-portrait tokens for all ongoing players.
Essentially though- I do my best to make every session worth every penny. And I never ask for payment for our first "trial run." Roleplay is personal, and I strongly believe it's essential to ensure we are a good fit for each other before committing to a regular game.
All that said, I hope to hear from you! & I look forward to crafting -your-story.
"No one knows, oho! What set these lands a-wandering! No one alive- a-hai! Was there to see the sundering! But what-a sundering, OHO! All our lands wandering, A-HAI!" -popular folk-tune throughout the Wayward Lands.
Looking for a DM that uses incredible accents and eclectic personalities for NPCs?
Looking for a vibrant, well built world with plot hooks that'll rip your gills out?
Looking for a story that is teeming with mystery and leaves you wondering what will happen next?
I've been a part of the Forgotten Storms campaign since the beginning and it is always the highlight of my week. I love the creative freedom to talk to any NPC I want. I enjoy the way that September focuses on roleplaying, even (*especially) in combat. I always enjoy hearing what my rolls MEAN, what my spells LOOK like, etc. September provides an insanely immersive world that will leave you thinking about it even when you're not playing in it. $12 a game is such a steal for the amount of time, planning, and care that goes into each session. I'm considering creating a fake identity, just so I can play in more of her games ;)
If you are worried about this being paid I suggest atleast giving it a go to see if the trial run goes well. This DM uses a ton of maps in active play and it makes playing the game on a mechanical standpoint, for when you aren't roleplaying, very easy. Combat runs smoothly. Combat is enjoyable this way. There are those that prefer theater of mind, and I'm sure not every encounter in the world will have a map, but as someone who really enjoys visualizing combat this has been an enjoyable experience.
The group is a lot more than just combat though but this is something I've noticed and think is just worth the money already. Having all of these maps made for us, individual player maps, connections to a story, and more is something I am willing to pay for (and do pay for as a player in FR). The roleplaying opportunity are more often than not and we've had sessions of just roleplay before. If you are a player looking for a more traditional 1/2e murder fest experience, this probably isn't the DM for you.
The good news is if you don't think you will match with the DM in the trial run, you lose out on nothing but a session of DnD.
The bad news is you lose out on playing with a great DM.
All in all That Bard is the best DM I've ever had and I highly recommend her.
NOTE- Monday & Wed pacific eve groups are full! Friday pacific eve is already pulling in applications for the end of the month- so if you're PST/PDT and looking for a Friday game, applying sooner may actually be better as I expect this to fill up fast, and I operate on a first-come basis, till players pass the interview stage.
All in all, I am loving everyone's characters so far, and thrilled to be running these awesome games! I look forward to meeting even more of you out there!
EAST COAST evening groups are coming up on those start dates fast! A week and a half till start.
Group W- Wednesday nights @ 6pm EASTERN & Group F- Friday nights @ 7pm EASTERN Both still have lots of room for players to join in!
I will be interviewing and configuring for these two groups over the coming week!
SPECIAL NOTE- group F will run the free 'session zero' as scheduled/planned (on the 24th), but will skip a week (on the 31st) before its official session "one" (on the 7th) due to an unexpected RL conflict. (It's hard to DM accents with dentist-numbed tooths!)
I look forward to helping create your story in the Wayward Lands!
I love the character portrait at the end! Such a personal touch. Did you actually write an entire song?
"No one knows, oho! What set these lands a-wandering! No one alive- a-hai! Was there to see the sundering! But what-a sundering, OHO! All our lands wandering, A-HAI!" -popular folk-tune throughout the Wayward Lands.
@ LeighaSolo- Thank you! That's one of my favorite NPC's I plopped out in the world. As for song- ......maaaaayyyybe? /bashful. I like writing. It's super rhyme-y, but, it's supposed to be a folk song, so. I'm working with a friend to actually get it recorded at some point....because. (I'm a nerd.) Anyhoo-
As requested- the complete "Song of Sundering."
Song of Sundering
A time ago the world was whole, The sky was known, the lands held soul, And then there came the sundering.
Some say the Great Dragons took flight, Their cycle spurring epic fight! That set our lands a-wandering.
A mighty fight, a mighty toll, Yet none survived to share the plight Of this most epic blundering.
No one knows, oho! What set these lands a-wandering! No one alive- a-hai! Was there to see the sundering! But what-a sundering, OHO! All our lands wandering, A-HAI!
A time ago the world was one, No strife besought any nation, Until there came the sundering.
Some say the Old Gods held a war, One battle breaching our world's core, Which set our lands a-wandering.
A costly fight when all is done, Yet none survived to write the lore Of this most epic thundering.
No one knows, oho! What set these lands a-wandering! No one alive- a-hai! Was there to see the sundering! But what-a sundering, OHO! All our lands wandering, A-HAI!
Who dares to say which tale is true, How our great world was ripped in two And set upon it's wayward plight.
Dragons and Gods, demons and more, Breaking, re-writing each known shore, Yet still, our wayward lands hold light!
And so, we tell this tale anew, For days to come, and days before, And pray it fends the coming night.
No one knows, oho! What set these lands a-wandering! No one alive- a-hai! Was there to see the sundering! But what-a sundering, OHO! All our lands wandering, A-HAI!
PS- Wow! Wed group is filling up! Updating available counts in main post momentarily.
All pacific timed games are now FULL, barring any departures post session zero.
There are only 3 slots left in Eastern timed games- ONE on friday @7est, and TWO on wed @6est.
BOTH GAMES START THIS WEEK! Don't miss out! It is not too late to apply for wed!
also-
As it's come up- none of my campaigns are 'evil PC' oriented. I can work with lots of layers of grey (and enjoy them immensely!), but characters need to be able to work together without wanting to defeat each other, to make a good party. Ensuring everyone's characters can meld into a fun, functioning group of (sometimes miscreant) hero's -is the game!
4. I have done tabletop once with a meetup with some friends but I know how to roleplay and give my character life
5. Human BloodHunter or a Wizard i can also do Fighter and Rogue
6. Born in a small town my father was taken from us, my mother left alone to feed me and my ludicrous brother. He left her as soon as he could. She died when I was 500, now I must find my father and bring the Zhentarim clan
7. I RP alot to give Garlet life but when in combat I prefer my voice to be taken a bit more seriously
8. I have no personal PayPal or a credit card thus I can't pay for a game I wasted so much cash on (iown 5 books 7 minifigs 3 hex and cube maps and 12 dice packs so I am pretty much broke)
9. Black
10. I have once sliced a wraiths throat open with the Sword Of Kas, it screamed in terror and grabbed my throat I rolled a 20\A critical role and took it's arms of and impaled it killing in a blow
Hello there @Garlet. I am the DM for these games, and I will contact you shortly via PM to see if I can't help you out. Unfortunately as I run paid games with unpredictable, & potentially adult content, I cannot accept applications for players under 18.
Look for my PM, I'd be happy to help you search for an age-appropriate group to play some classic D&D. :)
