What is Ashendell?
Nearly four millennials have passed since the cataclysm known as the Great Change tore the Old World asunder, plunging humanity to the brink of extinction. The truth of this apocalyptic event has faded into myth, but from the ashes of this lost era, a new Dark Age arose, where the machines and cities of humankind crumbled beneath the relentless march of time and nature’s reclaiming hand.
Since then, the survivors of the Old World have evolved, their bloodlines infused with magic to become crystal-wielding mages, river-forged warriors, and fey-touched mystics. Ancient wonders, remnants of a forgotten age, hum with newfound energy, blending steel and sorcery in a world where new nations has risen from the ashes of the old & rediscovering old technology. Ashendell is a world of haunting beauty and perilous intrigue, where the echoes of divine shape the fate of all who dare to rise. It is a sandbox for epic tales of heroism, betrayal, revolution and discovery—a world waiting for your story to unfold. But be warned wanderer, every action (direct or indirect) will help shape this world for the better…..or worse.
Unleash your Imagination!
Ashendell isn’t just a world—it’s a playground for your imagination! This homebrew setting comes with other homebrew materials such as:
Unique Races:
Shardkin:Born from the radiant chaos of Ashendell’s mana storms, the Shardkin are crystalline humanoids infused with pure magical energy. Their bodies shimmer with inner light, and jagged mana shards protrude from their forms.
Scale-folk: The Scalekin, as the Croc-Folk are known in Ashendell, are a race of massive, crocodilian humanoids whose origins are shrouded in mystery. Many scholars in Runari and the Terranean Republic theorize they originated in the far east of the Eastern Continent, near a pre-Change river known as The Great Three Rivers.
The Oni-kin of Ashendell are descendants of ancient demons. Originating in the fiery landscapes of Drakonheim, particularly the Cinderfall Savanna, Oni-kin bear the legacy of their demonic ancestors, tempered by the mana that courses through their veins. In their base form, they appear humanoid, with heights ranging from 5’5” to 6’5”, marked by horns, tattoos, or ember-like eyes that hint at their heritage. Their true power emerges when they transform, becoming towering, primal entities of raw force, their skin taking on reddish, ashen, or stormy hues depending on their lineage.
The Aetherbound are Ashendell’s Fey, born from mana storms during the Great Change, the Aetherbound emerged when mana storms, living among human survivors, creating a new lineage and families.
Custom Subclasses: Choose from tailored paths with new subclassses to spice things up!
Monk, Subclass: Pugilists are scarred and defiant, their knuckles wrapped in rune-scribed cloth. They meditate in smoky taverns, their ki flaring like gaslight. Some fight for coin, while others seek enlightenment through pain, their punches shattering mana-beasts and rivals alike.
Barbarian Subclass, Path of the Revolutionary: Revolutionaries channel their rage into a fight for freedom, inspiring others to rise against oppression. From the Terranean Republic’s urban uprisings to the Frostvale Expanse’s resistance against Ulfrung raiders, they are the firebrands of change.
Bard Subclass, College of the Philosopher: Philosophers in Ashendell are bards who use the power of reason and debate to sway hearts and minds. All the while, talking smack to your enemies like Socrates.
Rogue Subclass, Deadeye: The Deadeye is a master of ranged precision, a sniper who stalks the battlefield, eliminating threats from extreme distances with lethal accuracy. Trained in the art of stealth and patience, Deadeyes use their keen senses and mana-infused weapons to deliver devastating shots, often turning the tide of battle with a single, well-placed bullet or arrow. Whether perched atop Runari’s Verdant Spire or hidden in the Withered Savanna’s twisted groves, a Deadeye’s shot is as inevitable as it is deadly.
Fighter Subclass, Gunslinger: Gunslingers are masters of firearms, blending raw firepower with precision to dominate the battlefields of Ashendell. Whether dueling in the smog-filled streets of Steelheart or skirmishing across the Withered Savanna, a Gunslinger’s quick draw and deadly aim make them a force to be reckoned with. They channel mana through their weapons to unleash devastating trick shots.
Fighter Subclass,Centurion: Centurions were disciplined leaders who inspired their troops, maintained morale, and enforced strategy, often leading from the front while supporting their legionaries. In Ashendell, a world of harsh survival and conflict, the Centurion subclass reflects this legacy by making the Fighter a rallying point for allies. Unlike the Banneret/Purple Dragon Knight, which is often seen as underwhelming due to its reliance on short-rest healing and limited support, the Centurion provides consistent, impactful leadership through auras, reactions, and tactical commands. The subclass balances frontline combat prowess with team support, ensuring the Fighter remains a strong martial character while enhancing allies in meaningful ways.
Wizard Subclass, School of Pneumatology: Pneumaturgists wear gas masks and rune-etched coats, their spells hissing like steam. They experiment in gaslit labs, their mists bending reality. Some serve Iron Conclave engineers, while others roam ruins, their vapors unveiling Old World secrets.
Wizard Subclass, Technomancer: Your study of technomancy allows you to master the fusion of magic and technology, streamlining your crafting and research. (for those who love their adeptus mechanicus!)
Warlock Subclass, Pact of the Fay Court:Warlocks of the Fae Court in Ashendell pledge themselves to the Courts, gaining fae magic to deceive and charm.
Cleric Subclass, Domain of the Veil: Veil clerics wear black vestments, their censers trailing mana-mist. Their prayers summon ghostly echoes, and their eyes see beyond the mortal plane. Some purify haunted ruins, while others wield spirits as weapons, their faith a bridge to the Veil.
Cleric Subclass, Justice Domain: Clerics of the Justice Domain in Ashendell, upholding law and punishing the wicked. From the courts of the Terranean Republic to the battlefields of Eisenmark, they bring divine retribution.
Artificer Subclass,Grenadier: From explosives to Artilleries, you control the course of the battlefield and entrenching. You sapper skills are par none and will bring flame and thunder to shatter your foes. Your Iron will alone is an unyielding storm that shatter's the will of foes.
Ranger Subclass, Trailblazer: Trailblazers in Ashendell are expert scouts who navigate the shattered wilds, leading their allies through treacherous terrain with unmatched skill. From the Shimmering Steppe’s mana springs to the Frostvale Expanse’s icy wastes, they blaze trails and strike from afar with deadly accuracy.
Paladin Subclass, Oath of the Cuirassier: Cuirassiers are those who hold their oaths to the homes and brothers-in-arms. They are the shock troops that will break the enemies line. All for glory, honor and brotherhood. You believe this can be found on the battlefield or holding
Druid Subclass, Circle of the Nomad: Nomads in Ashendell are druids who thrive in the harshest environments, mastering survival and befriending beasts. In the Shimmering Steppe, they guide Shardkin through mana springs, while in Saluquen, they tame desert beasts.
Druid Subclass, Shaman: Shaman's are druids who live close to the spirits of forest and their forefathers, healing those who are sick and hurt. You change shapes to those animal spirits you call brother.
Sorcerer Subclass, Bloodline of the Dragonrider: Dragonriders in Ashendell are born with the blood of ancient dragon tamers, granting them draconic magic and a bond with a dragon companion. In Drakonheim, they soar with the Crimson Pact, while in the Crimson Spires, they ally with Scalekin.
Sorcerer Subclass, Bloodline of the Oracle: Oracles in Ashendell are born with the gift of foresight, their bloodline touched by ancient seers who once communed with the gods. From the misty courts of Runari to the starlit peaks of Raven’s Peak, they use their prophetic magic to guide allies and unravel the threads of fate.
Original Spells & Gear: Wield spells like Mana Surge, unleashing a torrent of raw arcane energy, or arm yourself with firearms from muskets to Dynomite, & Cannons!
New and Original Gods and Demons alike!

My friend and I are intrigued and looking for something that might scratch our itch. My Discord is iameternity and we would like to talk about the potential of joining!
Hi. My discord is "_snekly". My character concept is human(probably) named Tilcot with a grudge against the man or men who left a desiesed corpse at his village's entrance, infecting and killing many. Tilcot is both on a mission to get revenge and to gather enough money to support the remaining members of his village who are suffering the aftereffects of the plague.
Ok, so we have in terms of classes: A Rouge (Sniper class), a Warlock/Sorcerer. Another Warlock, and we have one leaning towards sniper/technomancer (Wizard). Finally perhaps a bard.
we have 1 more slot (unless you're a couple and want to join then we can fit you in). but we do need a frontliner/tanker. So come on in my fighters, paladins and Barbarians! :D
Hey my discord is starbanehugs and I'd be open to playing a frontline/tank style character. If the spot is available I'd love to be taken into consideration. Been playing for ~5 yrs although I'll admit I am a bit rusty.
hey i'm winnie (they/them), my discord is stonerhamlet. i've been DYING to play a barbarian. maybe someone a little nautical themed from a fishing village. not sure about species yet. i'm a major roleplayer and love using combat for character development.
As of right now we are full. But I will keep this thread up in case anything were to happen and we need another player. I'm sorry I couldn't get to everyone dm wise. I wish I could get you in on this.
Due to one of our players dropping we have 1 spot open for our group. We are starting our session zero this late after/evening 4-6 EST.
To give those an idea; the party has: Monk, Fighter, Warlock/Sorc, Warlock, and Rouge
So come one and all. Where there are not only homebrew spells and weapons, but new races, and subclass you wished wotc would make (from new oaths to college of philosopher)!
Playstyle: Heavy RP and Balanced Character Building.
Character Idea: Honestly don't have one in the pipe with the new setting and all but I'd really like to try out an Artificer or when it comes out the New Artificer.
we recently lost another play due to real life events and couldn't continue. we have 1 slot free for future players to come in. We have in our party as is....
Artifcer, Monk, Warlock, Rouge, Sorcerer/Warlock
so we are open to any one else in this merry band of gun weilding, victoria era and action pack fun filled with homebrew classes and spells to sink your teeth into with beautiful story tell and murder (murder~~). send me a dm if interested and we'll talk shop. our games are saturday 6 pm est.
Hello! My name is Sy and my discord is: ayyokay_20451 I am a RP and Exploration focused new player and my character idea is one I've been interested in for a bit. I want to be a fungi/mushroom that was given humanoid form as a joke/experiment, but now I'm left with the absolute burden of having a nervous system and legs and emotions and all the other issues!
I have sadly lost several due to RL events, leaving more on the table. I'm looking for at least 2 more players that would be interested in this massive world. Our next gaming session will be this saturday. So i'm looking for anyone that would fit into our group (currently level 4). My DMs are open!
Group: Warforge warlock Warforge Rouge (sniper) Oni (homebrew race) Monk
Hi! Me and 2-3 other players are very eager to join your amazing world! I have a couple characters mostly trickster esque rogue types interested in playing but will have to look and see if another fits the setting more!
Im Soul (He/him) and im a 70-30/60-40 rp-combat kinda guy who peppers his combat with flavourful energy too!
my discord is avengingsoul for more details and i can put you int iuch with my friends there too!
Your playstyle (roleplay, combat, exploration, etc.) I enjoy a mix of roleplay and challenging combat, but roleplay is my favorite. I love delving into both PC and NPC backstories, uncovering lore, and creating memorable moments at the table. Storytelling and exploration are also a big draw for me—I enjoy discovering hidden details in the world, solving mysteries, and experiencing the narrative alongside my fellow players. Ultimately, I like a balance of immersive storytelling, strategic combat, and collaborative roleplay that lets me create cool and meaningful interactions with the group.
A brief character concept (e.g. “A Dwarf knight with a vendetta against corrupted demi-gods”) I have 2 Gwinduil “Gwin” Morloth – Raven of Quiet Shadows (Shadar-kai, Paladin) Gwin is a Shadar-kai Raven of the Queen’s Conspiracy, trained under the guidance of Elarwen Lúmiel. Naturally shy and gentle, he contrasts sharply with the intimidating persona he projects while wearing the Raven regalia. Though his armor and cowl make him appear brooding and deadly—an icon of dread to the undead and awe to the living—he is inwardly nervous, constantly worried about tripping over his cape or misstepping. Gwin is fiercely devoted to protecting life, hunting the undead and wicked, and upholding the Conspiracy’s mission, all while struggling to reconcile his shy nature with the imposing symbol he has become. Axel Ardan / Apex(Barbarian) A gentle giant with unmatched potential, Axel is the last surviving Starkien, sent as an infant from a dying reality to a loving adoptive family. Towering and powerful, yet humble and compassionate, he bears the responsibility of the Starkien Repository, a living suit containing his people’s knowledge. Trained to be a hero, Axel struggles with the weight of legacy, determined to use his gifts to protect the world and prevent the mistakes that destroyed his home. Calm, moral, and protective, he is a beacon of hope in a world that doesn’t yet understand the power he carries.
