Looking for older players interested in learning to play or just need a refresher to the current versions. I run a Discord group that plays every Sunday night starting around 7p EST. Group age consists of members from 21-50+. So, if you're looking for a mature group of fun individuals then this may be the fit for you. (21+ only PLEASE). We are very informal & fun. We do not take sessions 1000% seriously.
We play a balance of long campaigns, homebrews, one-shots, "fun runs", etc. All games are played under 2014 ruleset & also use rules from 1e-5e. Session levels vary, depending on the adventure. I also encourage & will teach members that feel comfortable to try their hand as DM(so I can play once in a while). I currently have 3 "backup" DMs that assist me.
We use Discord for the voice chat & D&D Beyond for characters, maps, tokens, books, etc. Using a phone to play is ok, but it can be very sluggish accessing the Beyond map & character sheet.
If you think this would be a long-term group you are looking for, then feel free to message me here or on Discord marc8970 and PLEASE copy & paste the following in your message...
Hello, I'm interested in your group. Been looking for something that works with my schedule. Discord name is vicendis
Age: 62
Time Zone/Location: CST / Dallas
Experience: Originally played AD&D back in the day. Then a few years ago, played in my first 5e campaign which lasted about a year. A couple of years after that, I have played a in a couple of campaigns but not for very long, so have only played like 3 characters total, so I'm still a newbie really. I'd like to DM one day but wanting to get a lot more play time in with various class's before I get around to trying that.
Think this would be a great fit. I have a lot of experience but was based back in the boxed sets then into advanced and then 3.5 took a break now 5.e and 2024 for about a year. I am a DM and Player so can do both as need3d but ultimately love to be a paler if that makes sense. I use and like foundry for VTT but have used Roll20 and ddbeyound maps/ VTt also willing to open to allow and help foundry for those interested. Anyways. Def interested
I'm very interested in your group and I am an Army Veteran. I have plenty of D&D experience, but I've never played online. I'm looking to learn how and and willing for whatever.
Age: 35
Time Zone: Alaska
Experience: 5 years playing tabletop, new to online
Game: D&D 5e (2014,2024)rules Group preferred: either Experience: New to a few years Location/Timezone: (Sydney Australia = AEST) Availability: more towards afternoon Australian time Preferred role: Player Game style: Casual, hardcore, roleplay, hack'n'slash.
Hello! I sent you a friend request on Discord. I'm MarMarMarls.
Age: 30
Time Zone/Location: CST
Experience: I've been playing D&D for 4+ years. I've been DMing for a group of students at the school I teach at (I'm a social studies teacher). I've been a player for several short campaigns over Discord, most of which ended because the DM couldn't continue playing. With that said, I'm pretty familiar with both the 2015e and the 2024 5.5e rulesets.
In the late 1980s, I led the armies of Brist to defeat the evil god-king Zeneb. I captured his soul in a clay jar that I piss on every day. In the early 90s, I was a halfling bard until I found this neat sword that contained the soul of Kos. [We switched places, but it was still fun!] In the mid- to late- 90s, I recovered the bard, but intra-party conflict got tedious and I sacrificed him for the sake of friendship. Then we discovered Diablo, and I was a drag on the group and then all my friends got lives and left me behind.
Early 2000s, I suggested we take advantage of the new technology of webcams & chatroooms to keep playing but they weren't interested.
Lately, I've been trying to play with a group from therapy, but the opportunities to play are limited, and each person's schedule changes between sessions, so there's no consistency.
I would prefer the social interaction of face-to-face gaming, but I can't let the "perfect" be the enemy of the "good".
Hi. This sounds like a great fit for my schedule. I've been looking for a weekend game for some time. A bit about me:
Age: 50
Time Zone/Location: EST / NYC
Experience: I've been playing D&D since 2014 and have DM'd several games over the years. I'm an experienced player who knows how to keep meta knowledge out of my character's head. I've played and run one-shots and a couple of longer-than-one-shot campaigns. My favorite part of the game is experiencing character (and player) growth, and being part of player/character relationships that grow over time. My personal TTRPG tenet is respect for all which I practice in any game I'm a part of. I'd describe myself as chill and relaxed, not easily miffed, a player who prefers to work with other players in achieving goals and overcoming obstacles.
My discord is soullessminionoforthodoxy

Why? Why do the fools fly? Better to burn sooner than late, for burn we must. Go back to your bonfire! And I? I will go now to my pyre. To my pyre! No tomb for Denethor and Faramir. No tomb! No long slow sleep of death embalmed. We will burn like heathen kings before ever a ship sailed hither from the West. The West has failed. Go back and burn!
Experience: i played a two hour tutorial d&d campaign that was presented to newer players about 2 years ago in a discord i was in. i forgot what version it was going with.
Thanks.
