Once was a land of cold stone and colder steel, Ursvik today stands as a defiant frontier realm—its ancient roads cracked with age, its mead halls filled with hushed legends. To the north, howls echo from the frost-bitten peaks. To the east, the black forests stir with movement unseen. And in the south… an old fort sends no reply.
The Mages Guild, a group of powerful wizards has grown silent. A group of powerful wizards in the Mages Guild has grown silent. The Tree of Seven Moons trembles, its branches weeping silver sap as forgotten stars awaken. From the forgotten mines of Kaldrennov, something clawed its way free.
You are blades for hire. Wanderers. Sellswords. Dreamers. Exiles, and Ursvik needs you.
From the cursed ruins of Elarion Veth, to the corrupted shrine at Talar’mir’s Deep, every step you take might unravel the mystery that festers beneath the land.
But beware: some secrets were buried for a reason.
Are you ready to brave a world steeped in dark folklore, rugged wilderness, and the grim struggle of humanity against encroaching shadows? I'm a DM looking for 5 dedicated players for a long-term D&D 5th Edition hexcrawl campaign set in a vast, untamed quasi Eastern European-inspired fantasy land.
ABOUT THE DM:
Name/Preferred Nickname:You can always call me jay
DMing Experience:roughly 2 years coming out of a few months break
My DMing Style in a Nutshell:I am the type to follow three rules. Rules as written, rule of cool, rules as interpreted. I enjoy mostly combat but I am trying to get myself more into roleplaying.
What I Expect From Players:Reliable attendance and communication if you can't make a session.Respectful and considerate behavior towards fellow players and the DM.Willingness to engage with the story and the world.A basic understanding of the 5e rules relevant to their character. Patience and understanding that the DM is also learning and might make mistakes.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Hexcrawl Exploration & Boundless Choice: Venture into Ursvik, where every hex holds the potential for discovery. Chart your own course across dense forests, rugged mountains, and mist-shrouded coastlines. Will you delve into ancient ruins, brave forgotten tombs, or set sail for uncharted islands? The main objective awaits, but the path you take and the side quests you uncover are entirely your own. There is an old saying, curiosity does kill the cat. Tread carefully, adventurer, for not all that is hidden wishes to be found.
Gritty & Grounded Tone: Inspired by the likes and mood of games like Diablo, dark fantasy novels, Lord of The Rings, and gothic films, expect a world where magic is potent but often dark, and threats are real and visceral.
Folklore & Mystery: Uncover the secrets of ancient spirits, strange beasts, and forgotten rites. Not every monster is a simple beast, some have complex origins. While some folklore is tied to this realm, others are not meant to be here…
Human-Centric: The campaign focuses on the struggles and triumphs of humanity against a harsh world. Other races are not as common, often rare and highly likely viewed with suspicion. Elves and dwarves, halflings and gnomes have some shared history.
Mix of Pillars: We'll balance challenging combat, intriguing mysteries, meaningful social encounters, and wilderness exploration (light or extensive will vary). Roleplay to your heart's content. While the party will face a central overarching narrative to give them something to do, opportunities for pursuing personal character goals and uncovering side quests relevant to their backgrounds will absolutely arise and can always be pursued if you want to put your main objective on hold.

I'm pretty new to D&D and have only played a few one shots at my local store that runs Adventure league. I already have a lvl 3 rogue I made with D&D beyond. I'm super eager to play a campaign and was wondering if this would be something I could join? I'm still getting used to all the different rules and wasn't sure if I needed to make a new charecter or anything like that. very willing to make a new character if needed.
Thanks, I appreciate any feedback you can give me!
