We are group looking for 1-2 more players to play in a campaign in a homebrew world. Currently have five players consisting of a monk, wizard, hexblade warlock, life cleric, and barbarian.
The setting for the campaign is that the party are members of an adventurer's guild that take various contracts and assignments to explore, adventure, and interact with the wide world around them. This campaign features a balance of roleplay and encounters set on maps.
Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online-Roll20 with Discord for voice chat. Experience: New / a few years / veteran Location/Timezone: The group currently has players in US Eastern and Central Time Zones Schedule: Weekly on Thurdays 10PM to 12:30 EST Roles sought: 1-2 players (18+) Game style: This game will balance role play, combat, and exploration. We are open to players of any skill or experience level. You don't have to do character voices or accents, but everyone is highly encouraged to participate in role play in whatever way is appropriate to their character. Even if your character is quiet or reserved, figure out a way to have them interact with others and the party. No brooding/loner characters. We are definitely open to jokes and silliness, but if your character or character's behavior entirely revolves around jokes this might not be the game for you.
Characters will start at Level 4, and will be new members of the Steele and Locke Adventurer's Guild. The reason for this, is that as new members of an adventurer's guild, it is expected that you are talented and have some experience in the world. The party will choose from among contracts and assignments given to the Guild. These adventuring missions will last anywhere from one to several sessions. However, the contracts and adventuring missions take place in the context of a larger campaign that takes place in a living, breathing world that reacts to the actions of the party. Even though there are contracts and assignments, the campaign is set in a sandbox setting and the party can choose to do whatever it wants. Characters can be built using any published 5e material, critical role material, or unearthed arcana (with DM permission). We use a custom method of rolling for attributes that is generally very favorable to the players. We use xp leveling.
A couple things about me and this game. I am pretty relaxed as a DM, and will generally rely on players to keep track of their own characters including spell slots, HP, abilities, etc. I have served as a GM in other games, and ran DnD one shots, but this is my first campaign as a DM. I view my role as DM as being responsible for facilitating everyone having a good time, and will do my best to make my rulings reflect that. I expect that if you have a disagreement with me or another player, it gets addressed before or after the game, not during.
If you are interested in joining please make a post with the information below:
-Name you prefer to be called

i being playing for 2 months now and have fallen to Deep in DnD to ever get out. Loving all the characters creations and stories. already in 2 campaings on sat and sunday , but i wanna be involved and have as much experience as i can in any game that is willing to let me join and explore.
i expect a lot of RP and fighting , i hoped to to avoid death and re-making a char(wanna make it to lvl 20 lol). No people on the spotlight.
this is my toon that i was playing on an old campaing and would like to continue it lvl 4 lord bard. also in my old campaign i killed a flyinf demon by making it laugh and fall to his death , proudest moment for me. (going full bard). https://ddb.ac/characters/4634707/HYz1F1
-hoping for a goodtime that creates memorable adventures/stories to look back at later; hoping to avoid people(not characters) that are snobby/want-to-hog the spotlight 90% of the time.....(been seeing that way to often -_- )
(short summary of backstory):he's an arcane archer who was once in the service of a lady, but upon nearly failing his lady, decided to go out into the world to better himself
If you still have a spot open, I'm interested in joining as well.

-Played Hero System with my dad and his friends as a child. Been following D&D for a couple years, currently a month into my first D&D campaign (Friday nights).
-Just looking to play another character I have running in my head, get more comfortable with roleplaying, and have fun playing a game I love. Just hoping to avoid people who are impatient with their fellow players. I prefer patient and helpful groups just looking for a good time and willing to help those who aren't as well versed with the rules.
-Character: Eladrin, fighter, battle master (I have physical copies of the rules but none on dndbeyond, so sadly I can't create my character here. I can send a picture of my character sheet on discord if I'm invited to join). Still working out the fine details of my background, but playstyle is dual-wielding.
-Experience with tabletop games: Rifts when I was 19 and 3 months of D&D irl
-What you expect out of this game, and what you hope to avoid. I hope to learn the most I can! My goal is to be a DM!
-Character concept: Race, class, any subclasses, and any other other information you want us to know about your character (you don't have to give away too much background if you don't want to)
Shifter rogue. Wants to be the best thief ever! Super talented but never pays attention to her surroundings and always gets caught. Can't hold her liquor or her stomach when she has to touch anything gross or looks at something gross. She is also very graceful but trips over her own shadow. She's a mess.
Experience with tabletop games: I have played warhammer fantasy and warhammer 40k for years, tons of different board games. Brand new to D&D got hooked with Critical Role people. Looking for my first group.
What I expect: To learn how to play D&D and get involved with a group of people. I have the player book, but just want a chill fun long term game that is fun to look forward to.
Character Concept: Half Elf sorcerer. He is an engineer by trade and fled the army he was serving. He has been wandering and helping people with problems they have with their equipment and buildings that need fixing.
-Name you prefer to be called: Dreyko will do (a last name thing)
-Age: 32
-Experience with tabletop games: Not so much tabletop RPG experience. I have read A LOT of source material for various versions of various games but my favorites right now are starfinder and d&d 5e. never managed to get a group local though to actually play. Participated in 1 adventurer's league and am about to jump into a 1 shot that someone is hosting online.
-What you expect out of this game, and what you hope to avoid.: I'm here for fun and to get lost in a story. I expect a balance of roleplay, action and exploration. Really looking for a consistent group that is open and respectful to a new player.
-Character concept: Race, class, any subclasses, and any other other information you want us to know about your character (you don't have to give away too much background if you don't want to): I'd love to use my dragonborn fighter! He is a very intelligent, but not so wise, dragonborn, who is obsessed with books. He made a name for himself as a hired hand to get enough money to pay for his book collection, utilizing his size and strength to his advantage. He is a seeker of knowledge at any cost, and that can sometimes consume him and get him into trouble.
I'd love to get in on this, thursday nights work perfectly for me.
-Experience: Moderate RPG experience (on & off for the last 20 years)
-I hope to find some quality roleplaying, a little adventure/combat, and meeting new people is always a treat.
-Character: Open to playing almost anything that would fit well with the group. I have several characters ready to go, but I'm ok with rolling up a new one if necessary. Let me know if spots are still available. Cheers.
-Experience with tabletop games ive played dnd 3.5 for several years and i dm a 5e group.
-What you expect out of this game, and what you hope to avoid. i would like a chance to roleplay within a group and be comfortable with it. i would like to be my character, and the other players be their characters.
Experience with tabletop games: 15'ish years with 2e/3e/3.5e/Shadowrun/Warhammer (Fantasy RP). I played for may years in my teens and twenties. No experience with 5e or virtual table tops. I'm looking to get back into RP'ing (see next section) and have spent the last couple of months looking into DnDBeyond/FG/Roll20 and watching people play on YouTube/Twitch to get reacquainted. I'm neither a loaner nor a spotlight hog.
What you expect out of this game, and what you hope to avoid: I have really missed playing over the years, and have been looking to get back into RP for quite a while now. I've really been spurred into action now that my 2 kids are just about old enough to be introduced to DnD. I'd like to get more familiar with the 5e rules and plays style before I bring the next generation into the fold. I'm hoping to avoid a very hardcore/strict veteran group with no patients for someone getting back into DnD. Late Thursday nights fits my schedule perfectly.
Character concept: Human Rogue. Maybe multiclass...many not. Orphan who grew up on the streets making ends meet by relieving the well todo of their valuables. Forced into adventuring after having to leave the city he grew up in due to a "misunderstanding" related to a local priest and some misplaced holy relics.
-Character concept: Half-Orc, Barbarian, born into slavery and haunted by his past he wishes to explore and find a new purpose for his life. (more background shall be revealed within time.)
Experience with tabletop games:I started D&D when I was 15. Moved to MTG and Warhammer 40k around the same time. I did all of those up until about 17 and started getting back into Warhammer when i was 25...then MTG again. 3 months ago a year+ roll20 pathfinder game ended with the DM moving to another state. I'm familiar with roll20 and somewhat with Tabletop Sim in steam. I've been "DM" for my kids and wife this summer and hate the Dm part. I'm new to 5e and have been burning through podcast to catch up on the new lore/class/races.
What you expect out of this game, and what you hope to avoid: I'd really like to find a good group of people to game with. The 10pm slot is perfect for my schedule. Kids and wife are in bed by 8/830. I'd like to avoid needing to take family time away. 10PM any night should work, but earlier may be harder with the kids schedules.
Character: Charismatic Lawful Evil. I'd love to discuss it with the DM only though :)
-Experience with tabletop games: 2-3 years, one of them spent dming.
What you expect out of this game, and what you hope to avoid: I really want a respectful group who can have fun and relax, talk to each other and even plan together. I really enjoy a DM that focuses on the story part and not the killing. I'm mainly just hoping to get in a game with well rounded and open minded people who have the will and want to play the game.
-Character concept: Tiefling Gunslinger from an unknown home. He goes around helping where he can and disappears the night after. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed but hes got a tongue made of silver, a heart made of gold and a gun made of wood. If not gunslinger maybe a Tiefling or Elf Rogue Thief.
My discord is CrystalDiglett#4333 if you wish to add me.
-Experience with tabletop games - All tabletop games? hmmm... well my D&D career starts in 4e, when I DMed for what was known as Encounters for a good 6 months. Quit for a while, then picked up 5e this past June (which, in my humble opinion, is a lot better for RPing compared to the board game style of 4e). I've got two games I DM now for newcomers, one IRL on Wednesdays (LMoP) and another that I do on Saturdays (Curse of Strahd). Besides D&D, I played MtG for a while, but I prefer a lot of the casual stuff: Lords of Waterdeep, Ticket to Ride, Onitama, Boss Monster, etc.
-What you expect out of this game: Having DMed for the good part of my gaming career, I'm looking to play, primarily to enhance my abilities as a DM. Every video I've watched and every Forum I've lurked on and every article I've read says that the best kind of DMs are the ones that have played a long long time, and I feel like I've been missing out on some things with the lack of a player's perspective. I would be lying though if I didn't say that Critical Role has been my go to show this summer, and I'm dying to get that kind of experience from a game as well.
-What you hope to avoid: Not dying would be nice, lol. Oh, and not paying entry fees (I know that most DMs feel like they're good enough to charge, and more power to you if you're actually as good as you say! Wish I could get to that degree of professionalism, and wish I had the finances to experience your game). Text based RPing's something that I dabbled in back in the day and didn't like, so none of that.
-Character concept: Race, class, any subclasses, and any other other information you want us to know about your character (you don't have to give away too much background if you don't want to) Hoede, the Half-Orc Druid. A Folk Hero who defended a small village from a horde of bandits using nothing but a log of pinewood. As a magical focus, he carries a human shrunken head around that he calls "Jack" and communicates with on a regular basis.
If I sound like your kind of player, PM me and we can hash out details.
