This is a relatively low-magic D&D Game for players who relish hard choices, scarce resources, and iron-age grit. Sorcery is rare and feared; in most places and times, a single healing draught is worth its weight in silver. However, where the forces of the Fae or concerned, it is frighteningly abundant. Your weapons are often bronze, your power the courage to stand when the old orders have crumbled. Magic can be wielded at great cost…only the Fae are able to use it with impunity.
The Halden Cradle was once the prize of great Empires: princely courts, imperial legions, and the gilded caravans crossed its fertile valley and contended for its great cities. Now the palaces are ash, the roads choked with weeds, and the famed Black and White banners hang in shreds on the spears of marauding bandits. Steel is scarce, coin scarcer, and every village survives, or perishes, alone.
You will begin in Rieger Village, a half-forgotten farming hamlet clinging to crumbling ramparts. Once it was an entry way into the valley…but compared to that past glory, its nearly abandoned now. A wandering noble and his lean band of mercenaries have set camp on the green, promising new roads and open horizons to any who will take on the life of a mercenary. However, first, someone first solves the village’s own troubles. Strange beasts stalk the fields, old barrows stir, and neighboring hamlets whisper of darker hungers in the mist-draped woods, or go silent all together.
Will you travel the recovering world, forge uneasy alliances, or carve a new principality from the pervading chaos? Every decision reverberates through the valley’s fragile tapestry. Gather your gear, swear your oaths, and step onto the weed-grown road, the Halden Cradle waits to test the mettle of those bold enough to shape its rebirth!
