Hey I'm kina looking for a Friday game. I’m 27.Would love to lean more into role playing and combat. I do have a concept for a character that I'll post below but of course I will be excited to explore an entirely new character based on the campaign and world it's set in.
Deep in the swampy metropolis of Butt****ery, the Symone family has been using ancestral magic for divination and channeling the divine for generations. There are local legends that her great-grandmother could stop the rain as it began to fall that her grandmother banished a demon back into the infernal. That her mother had traveled through Shadowfell and came back with her life. This was bullshit. At least to Naratih, Stories these backwater town folk tell themselves before they drift off to sleep. They were nothing more to her than fairytales used to tuck yourself into the illusion of protection. Her family was no different than everyone else here- Superstitious to the point of paranoia, barely educated, slow to break tradition. The only real difference is that her family found a way to profit from prophecy by exploiting ignorance. Naratih did not consider herself a woman of faith. The gods are just like her family's stories; myths built to quell fears. If they do exist, they have no interest in her. She mirrored that apathy. Her family’s “divinity” was a business. There were potions to be made, enchantments to cast, prophecies to make. Regardless of the effectiveness, the people always came back. She stayed ready to greet them with open palms and full pockets. Sure, she would tweak a prophecy or two. Channel a fake past relative to let them know it's okay to move on. Yes, it was all lies, but magic always lies in belief, and it only takes one person to believe. When she turnt 21, a mysterious woman came into the shop with a wavering shadow and asked for a reading.
“No problem, ma’am, I’m heading out, but I’ll get my grandmother for you.”
“ No, I want you to do my reading. I’ll give you double your rate if you can make the time.” The old woman reached out, handing her 10 gold. “ Will this be enough?”
“Of course, ma’am. Please sit.”
Naratih placed a white candle before taking a deep breath. The performance was always the best part- rolling her eyes to the back of her head, speaking gibberish. Maybe she can shake the table this time to add some dramatic effect. Before she could begin, the old woman grabbed her hand, flipping it palm-side up. Naratih tried to free her hand but found herself unable to move. The woman began to chuckle, digging her curled nails into her palm. Symone looks at the woman, her eyes cloudy white, her mouth slowly devouring the lower half of her face as she offers a blade-tooth smile.
“ You don’t believe, do you, child? I can see that here.” She digs her nails deeper into her skin, drawing blood. “ What? Your family didn’t tell you about me. Don’t worry, I’m here to give you something to believe in.”
If you're open to trying a paid game with a professional DM I would happily have you aboard my Friday night game. Based on what I've seen so far, I think you would fit right in with the group. If interested you can reach out to me here or on Discord at rythem0485
If you’re looking for a Friday game with a balance of roleplay and combat, The Nexus might be right up your alley. We’re an 18+ LGBTQAI+ friendly global community with daily online sessions, so finding a Friday slot that works for your timezone and schedule is very doable.
We run Westmarch-style, but each DM builds their own world—perfect for bringing a character like Naratih to life or crafting someone entirely new to suit a unique setting. Characters start at level 3 with a generous 35 Point Buy, and our no level cap gives plenty of room for growth and multiclassing.
All games are free, run through D&D Beyond with full content sharing, and we use Owlbear Rodeo for maps during live sessions. We also offer Play-by-Post options if you ever want to explore your character’s story outside of scheduled games.
You can check us out here. I think you’d find a lot of space to develop Naratih’s story—or start something entirely new—within our community.
