I’m running a newbie-friendly D&D 5e one-shot designed especially for folks who are brand new or have very little experience. If you’ve ever wanted to try D&D but felt intimidated by the rules, this game is for you.
Adventure: A free one-shot I found online and tweaked to feel more like a true adventure—cinematic, fun, and perfect for new players.
Style: Very loose on rules, focused on fun, roleplay, and big adventure moments over crunchy mechanics.
System: D&D 5e (no prior knowledge required).
Players: Preferably newer players (little to no experience).
Age: 18+ only, please.
Session Length: Around 3–4 hours, all in one sitting.
When: To be scheduled once we have enough interested players. I’m in CST and flexible to set a day/night that works for the group.
Where: Online via Discord (mic required) + Roll20 account for maps/visuals.
Have I got peaked your interest AND gotten your attention at this point...?
Interested? Please reply with:
Your experience level with D&D (brand new, session or two, played before, etc)
Your general availability (evenings/weekends, specific days or NOs)
I am interested. I’m familiar with dnd and have played inperson a few times but need to get back into it. I would love to give this a shot. I am familiar with discord but haven’t tried roll20. I am available weekends and Friday. My time zone is central time. My discord name is ecstatic_chipmonk
Hello and thank you for your interest! I'm hella excited to finally run this and see how everything works. Just wanted to give you some more info on the game:
Beginner-Friendly Design
This one-shot is built specifically for new or inexperienced players:
Pre-Generated Characters – No need to build a character from scratch or get lost in rulebooks. You’ll choose from a set of pre-generated characters that are ready to go, each with their own flavor and role in the party.
Custom Character Sheets – I’ve created simplified, easy-to-read sheets that strip away the clutter and focus on just what you’ll actually use during play. No walls of rules—just the essentials you need to adventure.
Simple Dice Rolling – All dice rolls will be done directly in Roll20, and I’ll guide you on adding the right modifiers. You’ll not only know what to roll but why, so you’ll learn how the basics of D&D work without needing automation or complicated apps.
Rules-Light Approach – The game emphasizes story, roleplay, and cinematic moments over strict rules. I’ll handle the behind-the-screen details so you can focus on having fun.
Adventure That Feels Like an Adventure – This is a tweaked one-shot that I’ve adjusted to feel more like a full journey, giving players a taste of exploration, roleplay, and combat without dragging on forever.
Think of it as a guided first adventure—you’ll get the real D&D experience, but in a way that’s approachable, fun, and stress-free.
I have a basic understanding of the game. I've tried playing 2 different campaigns in the past, with friends who wanted to test out being a DM. The campaigns didn't last very long due to people loosing interest or not being able to meet regularly.
I have played a few sessions in Roll 20 and am relatively comfortable there, and I practically live on Discord :)
I am available after 5pm PST Tuesday through Thursday, and weekends are generally open.
I'm looking for a starting game with a DM who has experience running a campaign and a party who is actually interested in playing the story, not just running around killing everything in site and trying to break the game.
If I fit what you are looking for, feel free to message me in Discord: kestra84
I am a new player looking to explore the DnD tabletop format. I have experience with the rules, classes, etc mostly through PC gaming but never did the tabletop with DM format. I am available any hours Sundays and Tuesdays and available Saturdays after 6PM EST. I am familiar with Discord and have a Roll20 account.
This is awesome guys. I'm adding everyone who is interested on Discord. My thoughts were to start a group chat and then I'll create a Doodle calendar to get best dates/times for everyone. Honestly, I wouldn't mind running this more than once if there are two groups of 3-4 players and schedules can line up.

Hi! I’ve been looking to learn how to play properly.
I’ve only ever played part of a game on Roll20 a long time ago, so I’m basically brand new.
I’m available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday usually every week.
I’m in EST time zone, and I’m very familiar with Discord, only slightly familiar with Roll20.
Feel free to friend me on Discord, my username is xezgamoth.
