Maybe nobody expected them, But I am starting a campaign in a homebrew setting of mine who mimics the time period of the Spanish inquisition in a fantasy setting. based on roleplay an characters. I am a kind of DM who loves to insert players backstory and elements into the campaign and like to reward theatrics and character development. I like players who are into roleplay, complex characters and interactions with the environment. If interested you can reply here of message me on discord @Neferika . Here is the campaign starting pitch if you are curious though not mandatory to read now either;
"The world of Saintsfall happens on a planet called Cor. Unlike most fantasy universe this one has seen its technological level rise with time. The planet current level spans from Dark ages to early renaissance. The fourth age or Cor started 156 years ago at the moment who was called the second coming of Eikon, the Theocrism deity. The infant was born in the Holy see of Cantara just as he did in his first coming at the start of the third age. But even before he grew out of being a baby he disappeared.
This sudden disappearance was accompanied by a strange curse laid upon the populace of Cantara. They die if they leave the confines of the country for too long and they can’t reproduce with anyone aside of other Cantarans. This curse made people believe that they weren’t human anymore and eventually the belief came that they killed the infant.
After that started a war. A big war that lasted until now. In the year of our lord 72 of the 4 era, King Alejandro di Torquemada ascended to the throne of Hespero and declared the start of the inquisition. During his reign the inquisition prospered slowly until his death at the venerable age of 72 after a reign of 51 years.
The year 123 saw the crowing of El Imperatriz Esperanza di Torquemada. Upon the beginning of her reign, the inquisition became drastically more active. Giving total clearance to El Grand Inquisidor Rodrigo di Dezna. During that reign, a huge number of Heretics, people accused of Witchcraft and people of different skin color were privy to the elaborate plethora of torture methods and executions the Inquisition has mastered over the years.
Then came the year 149. On that year the Great penance hit Hespero and the inquisition. Of unknown nature, the curse causes diverse and strange stigmas upon the body of the afflicted. A lot of different variation of those stigmas exists but they often seem to lurk toward the sins or the mind of the afflicted. The inquisition calls it the test. Believing that it is a test that Eikon has inflicted upon his chosen before their absolute supremacy comes. Other believes that the inquisition is being punished for all the murders, tortures and varied violence they committed."
