Hey community friends! I'm the DM of a weekly online D&D group that's been going strong since 2023. There are currently four of us: me, two other men, and a woman, all Gen X. We had a husband and wife team recently bow out, so we're in the market for at least two new players. We're open to anyone and everyone, although we'd especially love it for another woman to join us and balance out the dude contingent.
We're just wrapping up our first campaign and getting ready to start the next. Everyone's creating new characters from Level 1 using the 2024 D&D ruleset. This would be the perfect time to come onboard. We do character sheets and Maps on D&D Beyond and meet up face to face in Discord. Previous D&D experience is unimportant. We're all extremely new-player-friendly.
This group would be a good fit if...
You're a fellow Gen Xer who grew up on the original three Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Superman movies and the first if not the second Ghostbusters. Maybe you were familiar with B/X or AD&D back in the day, or you know what a fastball special is and what BAMF and THWIP refer to. There is a lot of this in the cross chatter.
If you don't take the game deadly seriously and don't mind intentionally absurd NPCs or occasionally ridiculous situations.
If you overall respect the rules as written but don't require absolute strict fidelity to them when something is just too cool not to do.
If you'd describe the current political situation in the U.S. as a catastrophe.
If you're consistently available on Discord Sunday nights 7:30-10:00 eastern time.
Here's the box text version...
Game: D&D 5e 2024. Group type: Online. Experience: Varies! We've been playing 5E together since 2023, although most of us (but not all of us) had prior D&D experience before joining this group. Location/Time zone: We go by eastern time by default, but we're not all in the same time zone. Two of us are in NYC, one of us is in Michigan, and another is in Texas. Schedule: We meet every Sunday from 7:30-10:00. Roles sought: At least two new players. Game style: Not dissimilar to the Chris Pine movie. Serious stakes but lots of laughter and occasional comedic situations, where funny and clever solutions to problems are rewarded.
Chiming in as that lone female already in the group. Please join so I'll have someone who will get my Molly Ringwald, Winona Ryder, and Real Housewives references and why I baby talk all the pets that make cameo appearances during our games. We love to laugh and don't take things too seriously. I should know, because this was my first campaign and everyone took me under their wing to show me the ropes. We're good people looking for other good people.
Am non-binary but would love to be considered for one of the spots. Strictly speaking I'm an elder millenial but due to being a nerd and my upbringing I know the listed references, though I have never played pre-3.5 DND editions...if it helps I was raised by someone firmly Gen X... my discord is darkneverland87 but I'm also vailable by DM here on DDB too.
