I'm looking to run my second campaign as a Dungeon Master. Looking for in-person players around the Salt Lake City area where I live. I have an apartment with lots of parking and looking for friends to play with. Hoping for an inclusive, welcoming group that functions more like friends first. Will be interviewing players. Open to new and experienced, as long as you're open minded and consistently show up.
Info at a glance, more details after:
Game: D&D 5e 2014 Rules Group type: Face-to-face Experience: Player: 6 years DM: 6 months Location/Timezone: Salt Lake City, Utah, 84115 area Schedule: Undecided as of yet, 6-9 PM on Monday, Tuesday, or any time Sat/Sun. Open to weekly or bi-weekly. Roles sought: Seeking anywhere from 4-6 players. Game style: Prepare yourself for a roleplay heavy, deadly combat game. I have one fantasy setting prepared for a typical game style, or a psuedo-fantasy world with a huge twist. Also, please be ready to commit to at least 6 months of gaming together. This won't be a short term deal, and consistency out of player and DM will be expected.
Now, for those who are still here, Hi, I'm Shale, He/Him. 25 year old in Utah. Currently working full time, but when I'm not, I'm playing DND, or writing. I've finished two full length novels, and working on self-publishing them. I also run a really, really bad YouTube channel based on DND content, that I'm gearing up to restart after a small break to plan. I'm open to a group of 18 - 80 in age. I tend to get along best with calm people and people with a fondness for being easy-going. I am apolitical, LGBT friendly, and try to create a safe space for all genders, ethnicities, and denominations. Comfort and safety will be a priority above board at my table. I am also open to finding a card shop or game store that is willing to let us meet weekly until people are comfortable coming to a stranger's apartment, I know it's sketchy meeting friends off the internet.
About you:
You're living where you can travel, weekly or biweekly, to my apartment in South Salt Lake. You have a Discord so we can form a group communication space, and meet digitally before in-person. You know what "Yes, and..." means, as well as "Red, Yellow, and Green" as a safety system. You are open to constructive criticism, and giving it to me as well. You don't mind being on camera (eventually) for my tiny little YouTube channel, and are willing to bring your full effort to not only your character, but also to making a genuine connection with people at the table. You can either show up for every session, or give me at least 24 hours notice before being absent. You have basic hygiene and people skills. Respect matters to you and above all else, you're ready to have a goddamn ton of fun with new friends.
About the game:
I have two adventures prepared:
One is a non-traditional fantasy setting, where the players are transported into a video game similar to Warcraft or other MMORPG. Standard DND Characters and rules will apply, with minimal homebrew that will change how you play, but be prepared for new abilities and slightly modified resting rules, fast travel, and video game inspired inventory system.
The second game is a more traditional fantasy setting, a steampunk world where artificers and enchanters have managed to take the bronze age straight into the start of the space age. Standard DND Characters and rules will apply, with more homebrew that will actually affect class features. Be prepared for very challenging combat and a world that is constantly competitive.
Once the group is chosen and we've talked a little more at length, we'll vote as a group about which world we want to play. From that point, I'd like to shoot for two weeks until game starts with a shared session 0.
Now, if you think you're interested and want to interview me as much as I interview you, please message me on Discord at shale_diceanddefiance . Thanks for reading all the way to the end, and I hope we have a lovely time together.
