I am starting a Dnd campaign in early January and have 2 open spots.
NOTE: this campaign will be mostly online using Roll20, HOWEVER starting in March we may begin to have a session a month in person if schedules work for people. Please be in the New York metro area (you can get to NYC within an hour or so). Online sessions will be Sunday evenings (6/7 - 10pm) and offline sessions games we will plan around schedules.
A little bit about me: 30M, long time DnD player who has dabbled in DMing 6 or so years ago. Had a lot of fun, but had to stop because of an injury. Looking to get back into it and have some fun with a chill group.
I aim to run this game with similar themes to classic D&D: exploration, dungeons, and frequent combat in an evolving setting. There will be RP as well but it is not going to be solely story.
THE SETTING:
This campaign takes place after a major conflict destroyed much of the old continent, Aelerand.
A powerful lich, operating in the shadows, instigated multiple conflicts to weaken the numerous realms. While the kingdoms were vulnerable, he launched a devastating war, pitting his undead armies against the living. He was nearly victorious.
But when all hope seemed lost, a brave group of heroes infiltrated his citadel, the Black Spire.
After a vicious battle atop the spire, the Lich was finally slain, and with his fall came the destruction of his undead armies as they marched towards the last strongholds of free people.
Despite the hard fought victory, numerous nations were crippled, if not outright destroyed, in the conflict. As the surviving kingdoms worked to rebuild and recover, many were left without a home or family to go back to.
Desperation, poverty, and starvation quickly set in amongst the large groups of survivors, and as it looked like there was about to be open rebellion, a new discovery changed everything.
Beyond the ruined Black Spire, obscured until the lich was vanquished, was a hidden mountain pass.
A few daring scouts braved the shadows of the mountains and on the other side encountered, what will become for many, a new beginning.
For they discovered a land forgotten by history: the Lost Reaches.
Pilgrims and settlers from the shattered kingdoms chose to seek out a new life in the unexplored new realm. The first settlers created a roughshod frontier town called Westgate, and rushed to prepare it for the winter when the mountain pass would close.
After the winters frost, YOU, an adventurer of yet undetermined means and motives, have chosen to join the first caravan embarking over the mountain pass.
Contact was lost with Westgate over the long winter, but still you set forth, not knowing who or what you will find in the new frontier.
I'm interested in joining your campaign, i have a few dnd books, iv only played a few one shots so it would be fun to build a charcater with lore in a world
