Game: D&D 5e Group preferred: Online Experience: Veteran Location/Timezone: Montreal, Canada (EST) Availability: Evenings (free most days except Thursday evenings); flexible for EU afternoons or AU mornings; weekly preferred (bi-weekly acceptable) Preferred role: Player Game style: Tactical combat focus (tank/cleric preferred); standard homebrew/published adventures; long-term campaigns; light roleplay
Human format, written by and for humans:
I was introduced to AD&D back in 1979. I played a wizard who died in the first game session after casting my solitary spell (4 Hp and no armor...). My second game session, I played a fighter with a spear and shield. I actually used tactics and scored a decent hit on the carrion crawler we encountered; I cheered and then died. But everyone else was already dead, so there's that. 🙄
I tend to play somewhat more survivable characters these days (5e). I am best when playing either some sort of tank or a cleric. I'm a fairly competent cleric (not a heal bot). I build decent characters, in that I have properly allocated stats and pick feats intelligently. I am not, however, the super player who builds the most powerful min/max multiclass monster. I can easily play with such people, though. Just don't expect me to be the MVP in a fight in such a group.
I am more tactical than a roleplayer, though I can roleplay to a degree; it is hardly my strong suit. I've been a strategy wargamer for most of the last 45 years, so I have a reasonable grasp of what to do in most tactical situations. There is a reason that I do not play rogues with maxed-out social skills, though.
I am looking for a group that plays ideally weekly, though I won't outright reject every two weeks. I find, however, that playing every two weeks, I tend to forget details of what happened in the last game. Ageing brain, I guess. I am retired, and my schedule is pretty free, currently with only a commitment once a week on Thursday evenings. I live in Montreal, Canada, in EST and generally prefer evenings, but could easily play with Europeans in my afternoons. I am Anglophone but am also mostly fluent in French. I have been known to play with Australians in the mornings.
I am looking for fairly standard gaming, be it homebrewed or published. If you've got some strange approach to gaming that you think makes you 'unique' in your 'style' of GMing, we're probably not a great match. I am happiest in a long-term game, with experience with games lasting 5 to 7 years. (I am not expecting anyone to predict the future of their game, but if your game does go that long, I'll likely still be there, barring the worst.)
I can easily play with any adult gaming group, regardless of age. I was young once and remember. 😉 As long as you don't mind having someone around who kids treat like Santa Claus.
I am not unfriendly to LGBTQ+ folks, but know that I grew up in an entirely different world and time. I will NOT remember your pronouns if they differ from what your voice suggests to me. This isn't me being mean to you; it is simply that my brain is not adapted in the slightest to that way of thinking.
I am conversant with several TTRP systems like Roll20 and habitually use Discord more than all other social media. I am looking for 5th Ed D&D and am not interested in learning other gaming systems at this point. That said, if you happen to be the extremely rare animal playing with Hero System, I am very conversant.
Please reply either directly on Discord to @panpiper, or to the thread if you would be interested in me as a player, ideally with a Discord address where we can 'hook up.'
Bookworm, martial artist, repentant psychic, dried out drug addict, paramedic, pseudo-apostate libertarian, debater, knife maker, SCA basher, professional gamer, speculator, pornographer, and nascent social commentator. ...and I want an uncomplicated life.
