Hi there! I’d love to join your campaign, especially if it ends up being Curse of Strahd. I’m returning to D&D after a long break and an async, roleplay-forward Discord game sounds like the perfect way to ease back in. I really enjoy atmospheric storytelling, character-driven moments, and slower-burn horror, which is why Ravenloft in particular appeals to me.
I’m flexible, respectful of pacing, and comfortable writing in a play-by-post format throughout the day (EST). I’ve included my character idea below, built specifically with Ravenloft in mind, I’m very open to adjusting details to better fit your version of Barovia or the tone of the table. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Marrowin was once a minor Barovian noble who ruled a small estate between two villages. Unlike most lords, he walked among the serfs, eased labor demands when he could, and tried to soften the cruelty of Barovia’s feudal order. When famine struck and tithes went unpaid, Strahd’s agents blamed Marrowin’s “leniency” for weakening control. He was stripped of his title and executed as an example—buried alive by the very serfs he had tried to protect.
In the darkness beneath the soil, an ancient undead entity bound to Barovia’s forgotten graves and unjust deaths answered him. It offered him rebirth, not as a lord, but as a witness and warden to the suffering buried in the land. Marrowin rose as a Reborn, bound in pact to this Gravewarden, carrying its power and memory.
Now he walks Barovia as neither noble nor peasant, haunted by what he was and what he failed to change. He protects common folk where he can, opposes unnatural undeath, and quietly defies the systems that once condemned him—aware that Strahd rules the land, but that the dead, and the land itself, still remember
