Game: D&D 5e (2014) Group preferred: Online (Discord/Roll20) Experience: Any Location/Timezone: 6:00 - 9:00 Pacific Time Every Tuesday Game style: RP focused 5e Module
Hello,
I'm looking for 4-5 players to run Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, so please only reach out if you haven't played and are unfamiliar with that module.
I'm an experienced DM who is coming back from taking a break to get back in the swing by running a module. I'll be using a remix of the module as written, which hopefully makes for a better and more interesting playing experience, however, if you're already familiar with the story of Dragon Heist (or the longer Dungeon of the Mad Mage campaign that it leads into) you probably won't find what you want here.
I like to run an RP focused table, with players who like to describe actions and build a story with one another based on the dice roll, rather than just play a game to beat it. I'm hoping to introduce some added complexity into the module to make it more "heist" focused, so players should be prepared to work together to plan and adapt, rather than tackle the challenges head on in most cases.
The module begins at level 1 and goes to levels 5-7 depending on choices made by the party. It frequently features CRs in the upper teens who will absolutely destroy a party that tries to fight its way out of every encounter.
The campaign is set in the Forgotten Realms. Knowledge of that setting would be an asset, but not a requirement. I'm open to players of any level of experience with DnD, as long as they come prepared to get into character and work together as a group. Due to the constraints of the module, while there is plenty of choice in how to approach challenges, and how/what order to tackle different pieces, the story is largely linear, and players should be prepared to engage with the plot accordingly.
Game will be *weekly* on Tuesday nights 6-9 pm Pacific (9-midnight Eastern). Obviously we're all adults and things can come up, but please only apply if you feel like you'll be able to make weekly games for the next 6-12 months. I tend to stick to the schedule pretty well, however, be prepared for the game to occasionally go over time if we're in the middle of a scene.
All players must have a reliable internet connection and the ability to use Discord and Roll20. If you haven't used them in the past, I'm happy to walk you through setting them up.
If you're interested, Private Message me with a little about yourself including:

I'll be honest, I'm old and an original DnD box holder. How do I send a private message to you? Discord only seems to have a "friend" tab. And I don't see a "private message" button here.
