Game Time: Fridays, 7:00 PM EST (Time is subject to debate).
Genre: Modern Apocalypse • Survival • Supernatural Mystery • Political Drama.
Tone: Dark, character-driven, high-stakes.
Inspiration: Gone (Michael Grant), Stranger Things, The Mist, Lord of the Flies.
The world didn't end. It just... forgot you. One moment, life was normal. The next, every adult vanished. Phones still buzz. Cars still idle. Fires still burn in empty kitchens. And your town is sealed inside an invisible wall no one can cross. No rescue. No rules. No one coming to save you.
Join process has reopened due to a player dropping out because of scheduling issues.
The Setting & Game
You play as teenagers and young adults trapped in a modern town cut off from the world by a mysterious phenomenon known as the Rift. Food is dwindling, power is failing, and new factions are rising as strange abilities begin to appear in some people. This isn’t a dungeon crawl—it’s a story about survival, building a society from nothing, and deciding who gets power, protection, and a future.
The campaign emphasizes heavy roleplay, meaningful choices with lasting consequences, faction politics, and survival. Supernatural elements grow over time, and a deeper mystery surrounds the Rift. Combat is rare but impactful—your greatest threats are often hunger, fear, and other survivors.
Characters & Tone
You aren’t heroes—you’re students, athletes, dropouts, and overachievers forced into leadership. Some will develop strange abilities, others won’t, but every character matters. The story explores psychological horror, moral dilemmas, loss, and the weight of survival in an emotionally intense but non-graphic way.
This game is for players who enjoy serious roleplay, long-term character arcs, and collaborative storytelling in morally gray situations. If you want your choices to shape not just your character, but the fate of an entire isolated world, welcome to Beyond the Wall.
Due to players dropping due to life unexpectancies, I am looking for two or three new players to join alongside two who have experienced that campaign so far. We will be starting over so that everyone has a chance to experience things again. So, feel free to comment, or message me here on DnDBeyond if you're interested, and drop your Discord Username so that I can reach you.
I'm interested! Was pointed your direction by another one of your players. My discord name is gorgonsmirror. Feel free to friend request first if it blocks you—I get a lot of spam messages so my security settings might get in the way.
I've been playing D&D for 6+ years, mostly 5e and now 2024 rules. I also play other TTRPG systems. I'm familiar with the rules but also 100% here for the story, so happy to live in whatever homebrew and whatnot you create. I lean in heavy into my characters, so I'll bring voices, possibly even cosplays to the virtual table as I have time.
System: D&D 5e (modern setting, light homebrew).
