Good day to everyone that took the time to come here and take a look!
I'm a long time gamer (very much over the age of 18) male (he/him) that's been off and on playing a variety of tabletop RPGs since I my early teens. I've played a variety of systems, but most of it has focused on fantasy based games. I tend to enjoy high fantasy settings, as well as games that give a good balance of the main pillars of TTRPGs (combat, story, exploration and role play).
Currently I'm looking to find a table running either 5e or 5.5e. I've had much more experience with 5e, but I'm familiar with 5.5e, however I haven't had the chance to actively play any current campaign using the newer edition. I'm open to either pre-made or homebrew campaigns, and in terms of pre-mades I've already played Waterdeep Dragon's Heist, Storm Kings Thunder and Lost Mines of Phendalver.
I'm hoping to find a group that runs with a weekly or bi-weekly frequency, running on any of the following days: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, ideally after 8:30 pm Eastern, and ending no later than 12:30 Eastern, as I'm in Canada and in the Eastern time zone. Anything that matches up with that time period would be ideal. And while I do support those that wish to charge for games and their services, to save your time I'll tell you now that I'm not in the market for any paid game.
In terms of the type of group/table I'm looking for, here are some of the things I'm looking to find. I prefer collaborative play and storytelling groups compared to groups that allow or favor Player vs Player combat. All the power to those that enjoy PvP at their table, but in my experience it has lead to way, way more bad experiences than good ones. I'm open to tables with new players, and I'm more than happy to help out new players as best I can to enjoy this great hobby of ours. I'm looking for a good balance of serious and silly. Additionally, as an adult with responsibilities and family, I understand that availability can be difficult, and try my best to be flexible with the other members of my group, and make sure to give as much notice as possible when my own availability might change. However, in recent years I've come to discover that I would prefer to avoid tables that enjoy adding rules to increase realism in the game, such as more severe combat, more in depth inventory management, realistic survival rules, and any rules of a similar nature. They unfortunately aren't really for me. I appreciate why people enjoy those kinds of rules within their game, but I find it tends to pull me out of the game than provide more engagement.
I've a few ideas floating around that I'd love to implement, but as such I always prefer to make something that fits the setting and the campaign above all else. I do appreciate you taking the time to make it this far, and if you've got any further questions about me or to see if I might be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out and I'll do my best to answer. Best of luck to those looking for groups, and good luck with your adventuring and storybuilding!
Hi there! I just happened upon your post and am glad to find some recent/current postings! My name's Seth and I'm a long-time player and old school DM (way back with 2nd ed). I read A LOT of the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft and Planescape novels, but am looking to get back into actively playing again. If you're interested in talking anything D&D, hit me up: 928-710-9950. 👍😁
