New DM looking to start a regular BoTW themed game (Free)

Game System: DnD 2024 ruleset
Setting: Legend of Zelda BoTW (Pre Link awakening)
Game Scale: Tier 1 - Tier 2 play
Format:
- DnD Beyond for Character sheets, rolls, and VTT/Maps
- Remote play via Discord, mics required, cameras optional but welcome.
- Discord for communication and misc.
Play style:
- Still figuring this out for my style.
- Heavy on epic quests and adventures.
- Probably somewhere with a 60/40 split between Encounters (combat, puzzled, dungeons) and RP.
DM Location/Timezone: USA / CST
About the DM:
- Longtime DnD fan/enthusiast. 10+ years.
- Brand new DM. Be forewarned and forgiving.
Target Player Count: 3-5 players
Preferred Players:
- 18+
- Beginner to Intermediate experience level
- Open minded & Cooperative
- Will kick for inappropriate play or play in bad spirit. Be respectful to build the best joint experience for all!
Proposed Schedule:
- Remote 3-hr game sessions every 2 weeks
- Will work out the best day to play with the group but looking for a weekday evening that works best for everyone.
- PBP supplementary play on the off weeks

Table Rules:
- Starting with level 1 characters.
- Point buy system for stats.
- Start with no items except the clothes on your backs, starting GP, and one personal item.
- Personal items can be anything from common to uncommon rarity and can be magical.
- Will provide starting items through gameplay.

- Characters should be mostly made up of the standard BoTW species parallels from the available DnD species. Hylian, Zora, Goron, Rito, Gerudo.
- We can certainly make exceptions for cool player ideas but I’d prefer to keep things more in line with the common species in the world.

- All DnD classes and magic are welcome. Some might need to be reskinned for flavor to fit the game setting but I’m not here to say no to things people want to do.

Homebrew Rules:
- Campaign will use a homebrew “Durability” system for weapons/gear to bring some of the BoTW magic to the table. It’s hopefully lightweight, fun, and not tedious but be prepared for some inventory management
- Details will be posted in the Discord server somewhere.
- I’ll be maintaining a world map with semi-randomized events that will impact the story and setting.

Hi, this sounds really cool and I would love to see how this works! I'm in CET(UTC+1, 7 hours ahead of you) so I'm a little worried about the timing, as I live with other people and can't be online too late, but if something can be worked out I'd love to make a character. How do races/species and classes work in this setting? (also, would a deku be allowed?)

No problem! Thanks for reaching out and showing interest. We have three players currently on board and have set a starting meeting schedule to play every two weeks on Wednesdays at 7pm CST. That might be an issue for you time zone wise putting you at like 2am? 

I can answer your other questions though in the mean time. We are avoiding homebrew species and using close parallels to established DnD species. Eg. Triton = Zora. Goliath = Goron and so on. We could figure something out for a Deku and yes I would allow it even if it's not perfectly aligned with the BoTW timeline/lore. All classes are on the table so far. We're just trying to avoid common use of anything out of place like firearms when we're getting started.
