Hi! Not sure how all this works exactly, so open to pointers!
I’m helping my 22 year old brother find a D&D group. He is on the autism spectrum (think mentality of a 15-17 year old) and completely new to the game. He does best with voice communication and has difficulty with reading and typing, so we are looking specifically for a Discord voice-based game.
He is very enthusiastic, tracks well, annd has a great memory. He really wants to learn, but needs a slower pace and a patient, supportive DM.
please let me know if your group might be open to something like this, or if you have space for a beginner like him! He's sweet as pie and freakin’ hilarious.
I'm a DM with high-functioning autism and I had a some trouble getting started too. It's really awesome to see someone helping out their family with something like this!
It's hard to say whether your brother's playstyle and my DM style will mesh well together without meeting him, so I'm hesitant to invite him to a group straight away, but I'd be very happy to run a beginner game, teach him the ropes and see how we go?
Let me know what you think ^.^
