Game style: Casual, some roleplay and some encounter. Balance preference is flexible.
New-ish player looking for a group. Currently in-between jobs and functioning as Mr. Mom for the house. Been forum-style text roleplaying for a little over half my life now, so text-based is my strength. Discord would be the ideal location for me, but I could be flexible as long as the requisite programs are free and a realtively easy-to-learn UI. Not afraid of adult jokes and content, but not particularly interested in reading or playing out adult scenes. Mixed experience as both player and DM, though my resources are currently limited due largely to the ridiculous price of gas and food around me.
Played for a brief few years with an in-person group of friends as my first exposure to D&D a few years ago. Think the achievements I am most proud of was nearly killing a flame elemental single-handedly with a lv.7 warrior(slightly crazy story) and honing my modestly impeccable Sean Connery impression. It was great when it was good. Got some play time as a player and then tried my hand at running a side-game as DM for the waterdeep dragon heist module so my DM could take more time between sessions to jazz-up his campaign. Shortly after covid quarantine began to lift, however, politics and treachery fragmented and broke the group apart, and my job became a little too demanding to keep playing elsewhere. But lately I find myself with free time and a hunger to fill it with something fun again. I have a few premade characters and some half-baked concepts I can refine for new ones. I can make simple characters or I can make deep characters with tie-ins to the campaign. Not afraid to work with my DM in that regard; all in the name of a good time. I believe I have a moderately firm grasp of rules, tactics, and the like, but there's always something I don't know. I think multiclassing is cool, but I can respect if others don't. I don't particularly have the time or energy to rules lawyer. There is a dice god, and he is simultaneously malevolent, benevolent, and indifferent. Physical dice sets have spirit and personalities all their own. Some of my characters have dedicated dice.(no joke, don't laugh lol) Magic items are awesome, never paid much mind to carry weights, am mostly indifferent to spell component requirements, and I believe a DM is allowed to fudge dice roles to keep within the spirit of a good time. I'm kind of min-max-y, but I try not to be crazy about it. Was taught that winning=fun and I've been trying to shake that with the help of YT vids from noteworthy sources such as Matt Mercer and punkydoodles. Character death sucks, but I consider it a fact of life. Not like death can't be cheated if the character is beloved enough by all anyway.
The bulk of my experience is in warrior and paladin, but I minored in sorcerer and rogue. I'm flexible to the needs of the group. I have an AI art program I like to play with occasionally, and I love making character art for myself and my friends.
I'm dragging on. If you'd like to talk more, I'm easy to get ahold of on discord. My tag is Friesian.
