I am looking to join a D&D 5e campaign as a complete beginner. I've been wanting to try DnD for a while now, and yesterday after sacrificing my night's sleep, I finally learnt some basics and made a character sheet.
Preferences
- Text-based campaigns preferred (voice is fine too, preferably with some element of text though) - Roleplay-focused or at least narrative-consistent gameplay - Story choices and consequences mattering in-world - Beginner-friendly group is preferred - Hopefully we can use this awesome site for character sheets and dice rolling! (Discord for coordination is fine)
Schedule
Timezone: IST (India), happy with international groups if scheduling works.
For the next two months I am fairly flexible:
- 1-2 sessions per week would be ideal - 1-2 hour sessions preferred - Best time windows: 11 AM-1 PM or 6:30 PM-8:30 PM IST
About my character (brief):
- Half-Elf Sorcerer (fey-themed, noble background) - Focus on roleplay, exploration, and characters rather than optimisation - New adventurer / inexperienced character concept - The character is public on my profile. Open to minor changes based on campaign setting.
Would prefer to avoid:
- Highly disruptive or purely joke-style campaigns that ignore character backstory - Extremely min-max or combat-only focused groups - I can't think of any themes that disturb me, so anything goes in that regards.
If any group is open to a new player, I would be glad to join and learn as we play. Cheers! :)
If you’re still looking for a beginner-friendly game, we’re currently looking for players for an online D&D 5e West Marches-style campaign.
Our campaign is more of an ongoing flexible campaign rather than a fixed short campaign, but since sessions are arranged based on player and DM availability, you may still be able to join individual missions depending on scheduling.
The campaign is set around Amber City, a dwarven city trying to rebuild its reputation after a past war. Players take on guild missions, explore dangerous areas, meet strange NPCs, uncover secrets, and help shape the world through their choices.
Based on what you mentioned, your Half-Elf Fey-themed Sorcerer could fit well, especially if you enjoy roleplay, exploration, story choices, and character-driven play.
Basic details:
Online D&D 5e
West Marches-style campaign
Beginner-friendly
Discord-based
No paid campaign
Flexible sessions based on player/DM availability
Mix of roleplay, exploration, combat, and guild missions
Character choices and world consequences matter
Just to be transparent, we are not mainly text-based, but Discord is used for coordination, and there may be room for written character interaction depending on the group/session.
If you’re interested, feel free to message me with your Discord, time zone, general availability, and whether you’d be open to a West Marches format rather than a traditional short campaign.
(Eeeek first post!)
