hello! i am Ferris and im looking players for a campaign im making so far, i have only one player and id like more i will write the premise so you know what your getting into and what im looking for so i can guarantee we can be compatible as people and hopefully friends (sorry if this has many spelling errors i am dyslexic but that hasn't stopped my ability to make a compelling narrative!) and im Sorry but you must be 18+ also sorry if its the expectations and promises are long i wanna be thorough, this is a safe space and throw out ill-mannered people, my discord is ferring689 eastern standard at 6pm to 11pm is how longe the games will go, with a break in the middle if needed
"you find yourself walking or adventuring in a Forest for whatever reason, you saw a fox, soon after you find yourself lost. Trees slowly turning more and more red, you see the fox more and more as you venture almost as if YOUR following it but no matter what direction you take you find yourself deeper into this red forest. your stuck, your here, you don't know how to get out but your only lead is the fox that guided your way and there are others that find themselves in your weird predicament. maybe when you find the Fox you'll get some answers or find yourself free or maybe you'll find yourself deeper into something more Troublesome. oh who knows after all you followed the fox." this story takes place in the 1800s and when i have the players i will give them 2 weeks to all make there characters and we will start once you guys are all done.
(these are not tiered off of priority im just writing this and putting this down and i have dyslexia and arthritis, editing is hard) what you can expect: 1.tough & unique boss battles with unique passives, stage hazards along with some being tailor made to deal with or be weak to YOU 2.unique areas to explore with(most) of the map will being original and hopefully all self-made, I have always had a unique way I envision the worlds i make like a forest of wires, hollow trees built like caves, 1 foot deep water with a mirror like reflection of the sky as far as the eye can see and areas with colossal gears and deteriorated buildings turned over with moss covering the place where one wrong step can shift your gravity called the weird lands. 3.homebrew to help make your character standout or fit to more of what you're looking for to play like unique actions for melee characters or a new/reconstruction of a subclass, we can work out together like obtaining spell thief as a 3rd level skill for rouge (not for a whole caster unless you want to be limited to like 5 spells at most and what spells you steal) so you can play as a character who steals spells starting out instead of waiting over a whole campaign to use this skill for like 5 minutes! ( i mean come on i wanna see a fun gimmick from players, i wanted them as a player! but sadly ive been a forever dm for too long to enjoy such luxurys, nothing to broken tho) 4. me being invested in you! and wanting to know what you wanna see further, I'm not infinitely creative so i may want ideas and if you want to see more, then let more know what you wanna see! just don't go "yeah this was boring don't do this" be constructive "this was boring" isn't gonna help anybody. 5.proper balancing that gets better as the campaign progresses, I wanna see your skill set and desires if some characters are like Swiss army knives and some characters are fight buttons that's fine! ill make problems Talor made to the Swiss army knife and the fight button to make you both feal cool and contributing, and if the Swiss army knife wants to have fights to seem cool I'll do my best to make fights made to maximize what they find fun, ill talor so if they prefer to play tactical support or be a frontliner theyll still have fun. if the fight button wants to solve puzzles or people problems ill make some that are Talor made to be enjoyed and best solved by you. 6.progression based leveling! listen i don't want to endorse murder hoboing you can kill things if you want I wont mind in most cases especially depending on your reasoning (heavy on that) but i also wanna focus on a story above everything, combat will come second, don't worry I wont judge you but if you keep killing the shopkeeper i will eventually stop giving you shopkeepers or maybe one WILL throw hands, don't worry that's like if you kill like 14 shopkeepers hahahaahaha. dont test that i will hit you with a kecleon from pmd if you keep at that, 7.you can tell me if im being unfair or need me to do my Duty as a dm and step in. if you believe im being unfair please tell me, we can have a discussion and even consult the group if needed i will always try and find a middle ground. if someone is murder hoboing and you feel they need to be stopped or slowed let me know i will not tolerate a player killing an npc your mid talking to in 97% of cases this 8.a plotline that will factor in as much of your characters and backstory's as much as i can 9. a queer friendly safe space! zero bigotry and well written females with diverse body types! 10.i encourage creativity, if you steal from a shopkeeper in creative way go ahead, i will also not invoke bs to prevent you from doing your schemes 80% of the time. like if you sell an object of returning to a character you have sold things too and when you sell the returning item and they "magically" starting inspecting things now and cast dispel magic? that's bs and you shouldn't tolerate that if i do that to you, i will also not do that, tho please respond calmly where adults if i do that and we can come to a middle ground 11.the game is a game at the end of the day so if you loot a body and i roll for what loot you get and you dont get another loot item its not that you don't find the item he just didnt have it or if your chopping up a oar and dint get a horn that's what you managed to cut off that wasn't to damaged from the fight or whatever reason i can think of, if you get a nat 1 the door knob doesn't event have a lock. but that also doesn't mean you get to be dismissive of the consequences 12 doing something that benefits you like making that free language you have and don't know what to make the language a character nobody can understand is not bad and wont be met negatively so long as it makes some sense as to why. wanting isnt bad either, wanting too much is tho. 13. no sa and semantics, i promise i wont allow people to beat around the bush with there intentions and if someone tells me something you want? im going to ask you to confirm cause what the heck? sounds weird tell me yourself
what i can expect 1. engrossing and investing yourself within the narrative and conversations. it's not hard to listen or pay attention. everything i make for this campaign is fresh, the npcs the plotlines, i may take inspiration from other media but this story is 100% self-made this is almost like a job for me, but you guys don't have to worry about that work. I want people to appreciate what i and others make within this campaign, why should i spend hours, weeks, drawing, scripting, making special items and pouring my heart out for someone that doesn't even bother to look up from there phone as I or others speak. a map with a viewble world should help with keeping your attention, you can look at your phone I'm not saying you can't. but keep it to a minimum and pay attention i will only repeat myself to poor wifi. playing on your switch with the sound on to let me know your disinterested will be met with getting removed from the call, this as happened once when i was a player and I won't tolerate that as a dm, i had a campaign about societal issues and 2 players decided to play wrestlers i aloud it and even drew there characters. when a war veteran was freaking out on a battle field they said he was "ruining the mood" that campaign had serious moments and they decided to leave because of said moments my campaigns aren't sandboxes to pee in, do whatever you want you can be silly but i want you to get most of the silly's out before the really serious moments, I will laugh and joke with you too! 2.being present: this campaign will happen every week and even if it gets pushed to every other week this should be high in the priority list this is a hang out and event amongst (hopefully) future friends! the schedule won't change unless its mutually agreed upon so not often. If where 3 months in this campaign and you stil cant be consistent, come on man, i will remove you from the campaign if you just can't pe present 3 times in a row without a good reason, and in most cases tell me in advanced so i can know whos present and write around it 3.dont yuk someone's yum: just because you don't like someone else definition of fun doesn't mean you get to spit on it, this is off course separate from favoritism if you feel this is favoritism let me know. but everyone needs the focus at some point, to solve every problem you must solve one first, remember where all supposed to have fun. the game is not a game engine im not going to allow the peasant cannon but i will laugh if you reference it. if you tell me a way to have infinite spells im going to rub my eyes, i will do the same if your are trying to avoid joining the party like the plague or think you broke the system, if you find an "exploit" dont "exploit" it too often im all for expliots but only if there done to a minimum 4. your characters can be impeded. listen this is a group game we're all trying to have fun. i was once a player, a player made a character that kills goblins without discretion, we were almost killed by a group of goblins but we were forced to team up with them because the players and the goblins were ambushed by a 3rd group even with the players and goblins working together we almost all died, during this a player was only attacking the goblins and would not stop when the other players where asking him to stop. if he kept attacking the goblins they would of started to attack us. some of us where at 1hp, we would not of survived if he continued, we did not mind the character flaw, in fact i think it could be a fun character flaw! but something had to be done, cause if not we were looking at a tpk. A player casted hold person cause in character it was the most logical thing to do if we didn't want to die, the party had no choice, the player was not harmed but was mad and soon left, I condone the player that casted hold person in that moment and in that moment alone, you're not allowed to burn the house down and expect nobody to do anything about it cause you were in character in the belief that stopping you is taking your free will, preventing the others to do anything about it and letting you do as you please is taking THERE free will? of course the dm should interview before such drastic measures, in vice versa you cannot just hold person unless the player in character is getting out of hand. in most cases ask me to deal with it but I encourage you to trust your gut. you also cannot charm a player without their permission and yes, it must be asked evetime between scene to scene. 5. show me some adorable foxs when you dm me! images, drawings, anything! i love fox's 6. what you do i can to (in most cases i wont) if you push an enemy into a ravine i can push you into one as well, you cannot be surprised if you lie and deceive and expect me not to at times. this campaign should be difficult at times you are all adults 7. communication, i had a dmpc in a party who rarely talked and tanked for the fragile party, this is all he did. He was not mean he did not steal lime light he did not downplay others accomplishments one player really wanted them to join none of the other players really cared and he was allowed to join. one player even joked if he really did anything, if he could even talk and that he should talk more, i had him talk a little more. i later learned she didn't want him in the party, the rest of the party wanted him there. I cannot read your minds i made this dmpc almost cater to every jab or complaint she made, trying to make him perfect i did. I learn that him not talking, talking, tanking not being there to tank, where not the problems, it was his pure existence. if the party wants an npc to join the party, i will make sure they will take only the space you leave for them and if you don't want him that should be left to party discussion not mine. you guys have autonomy and can talk to me and the party, please feal free to, i will always do my best to find a middle ground 8.stop treating npcs like there not people, im the supporting cast meaning every time you slaughter every half helpful npc or interrupt them every time they no longer serve purpose or are disinteresting you, your making me sad and dejected and no longer interested in writing. also some npcs will try to and can kill you with what they have (don't worry no character will be made op) if you drive em to a point i made this decision when a player literally used manipulation tactics, degrading me using their character via an npc, soon boosting the server after the session, love bombing it was crazy and ive never anything like that before hand. they were not a player long and the npc killed their character, i have made that rule then and stick by it. 9. if your going to rule lawyer me or other players think about how it will sound aloud. refer to these things preferably after a session unless i or another player gets a rule wrong when trying to understand it while we're actively deciphering the rule most corrections can be sent to my Dm's. any rules related to the races or the setting will be met with in most cases "in this setting kenkus and arakokras live longer" or "I really don't mind", damage will not always match the hit behind it. you guys are level 5 if I wanna omni man train you and you take 16 damage that's because your character should be able to take it. damage is partially scaled to what you character should be able to survive. so be carful how durable you make your characters i will hit you with a train if i believe you could. 10. you roleplaying your character and not trying to "win" in a pathfinder podcast i watched there was a player who wanted to find there lamp the other player got a wish and wish for them to know where the lamp is, the player could have used the wish to wish the lamp to there friend but in character he said he didn't realize he could have done that and criticize themselves for that, out of character they knew what they where doing and it made for a more compelling narrative, now im nor saying you need to delay you goals to preserve the juiciness of the story but think to yourself "is now a good time" cause at the end of the day im just the chef, eat your food how you want it. 11.my final ruling will be followed, listen im not a perfect dm and i will make mistakes but sometimes i will make a final ruling i will do my best to aviod having to make those rulinf but its because there are some rules i have no intention of changing like for example crits in my game are just the max roll, double damage is just shortens fights before i can show off everything and makes it somewhat hard to balance a fight, i once had a palidan do 150 damge and with a crit they did 300 damage and one shot a boss, it can make your characters prone to dying. I once had a player question that judgment and because he didn't like that rule, i told him to play the game for a couple sessions see how this rule gos and if he doesnt like it we can try crits doing double damage and see how that would go but i made no promise i would keep crits staying double damage if he disliked max damage, i would have checked to see if i could hand crits double double damage again for him to see his way, but all he heard was "if you dont like max damage well go to double damage" and unsurprisingly did not have an open mind said he didnt like it wouldnt have it any other way and cussed out another player when they tried to explain why the rule exists. i proceeded to kick him. 12. (final one) this is kind of optional, but please be the kind of person that likes games. everything about them the osts, exploring every nook and Cranney, wanting to learn every fact about a game they like, not only that but when others get into a game you like you don't spoil or ruin their predictions, nourish there critical thinking and tell them spoilers when they deliberately asked. I did not enjoy playing a game and being told spoilers unprompted. i just wanna be friends with someone who loves the art of passion and creation.
