I'm a forever DM, been DMing since I was 12, and I'm looking for players to join a world that very closely follows a novel I'm writing. I'm trying to see how the world goes and if I have enough lore. Lol.
About the game:
I'd like to have about 3 to 6 players. I might do more, idk. I'm also looking for players in their 20s to early 30s. I'm willing to hear you out though. I am a heavy lore and world building DM, so expect more story telling, npcs, and a lot more random life than actual massive fights, though trust me, there will still be plenty of fights. I mainly use DND beyond, for my games, but also use roll20 for my maps. I mainly create my own, but I will throw in the random one. I also communicate via Discord, so once we get going, all communication will be there.
About the world:
The world is set in roughly the 1600s. Magic has advanced some areas more than others, but most everyone is still in the mindset of the industrial revolution. Machines and various mechanics are just clockwork to them, but things are being invented. There are 4 main Continents, and the goal is to visit them all. A lot of action is reasoned by actual logic too, so do keep that in mind while playing the game, meaning if you're a human and you're trying to lift a mountain, decent chance that you're a human lifting a mountain.
About the player:
What I'm looking for are players willing to learn and grow. I follow 5e for the core, but I'm willing to roll things out. There will be a lot of story telling, a lot of world building, and a lot of friend making. I don't expect it to be a one and done, so you'll have to be willing to stick it out for a few years. I'm looking for Thursday games, in EST. They'll probably be later in the day, but depending on timezones, we can make it work.
If all of this sounds interesting to you, send me back a reply with this format or one similar:

A small story factoid about your character: Thrak is a dual-wielding ranger known as the Ghost of the Borderlands. He survived the destruction of his village by giants and escaped with only a dark-coated colt named bill. Since then, he’s devoted himself to protecting the wilds and tracking dangerous creatures across forests, ruins, and even the Underdark. He fights with an Elvish longsword called Sandspur and a magical short sword, and travels with a loyal wolf companion. He’s stoic, survival-focused, and heavily tied to nature and the goddess Ehlonna.
A small fact about you: I really enjoy heavy lore, worldbuilding, and long-term character development. I like campaigns where actions matter and characters grow over time instead of just hopping fight to fight.
What got you into DND: I got into D&D through fantasy games/books and ended up loving the storytelling and roleplay side of it. I especially enjoy building characters that evolve naturally through the campaign.
Timezone and available times: Thursday time zone is pst Thursdays work well for me, especially evenings.
A small story factoid about your character: Grew up in the slums, no choice but to join a gang to survive, turns out being a go getter with swagger and brains makes you a big pusher. so big that the gang got raided. Was young but had moxie. Who'd of guessed that the government that tore down my past would be the door to my future. Serve the law or serve 20 to life. Im busting skulls for the gov as their enforcer...for now at least.
A small faction about you: Played D&D for about 6 years. DMed most of that. Became a god as a cleric, Took down a demon lord as a barbarian, and shepherd souls through the Dale against Auril.
What got you into DND: I like the group cohesion and fun story telling.
Timezone and available times: Anything past 3-4pm (CST) is good for me. Saturdays aren't good for me. I'm shepherding those souls.
Favorite food: Deep Fried fish with a couple of sliders, fries, and funnel cake. Fanta to wash it down.
Character Name/Age: Gabriella Giselle Von En Haut Ville (Gigi)
A small story factoid about your character: Daughter of a proud sun elf noble family, and enchantment wizard extraordinaire... just don't ask about her school days...
A small faction about you: A lover of political intrigue and social maneuvering, I moonlight as a voice actress for some friends and their own writing material.
What got you into DND: I love the collaborative storytelling element of the game, always have, I have been the biggest fantasy nerd since i was little, and this let me mix my love of fantasy with my theatre chops.
Time zone and available times: PST (I'm 3 hours behind the DM) My Thursday evenings are wide open, as well as any day throughout the week, in the evening
Not sure yet ....I have a glimmer of an idea but im aiming at the stereotypical early adult time frame
A small story factoid about your character:
Im thinking Fens or Swamplands Ranger (depending on your world lore ill make adjustments ) who traverses the swamps vuaitng various settlements or towns on the outskirts (in real.world terms think a Cajun visiting New Orleans, Baton Rouge, amd Barataria on a circuit over the months in 1800) of the Swamp to trade snd get supplies. Tribal traditions having met civilization. Haven't figured why he leaves the swamps but ill figure that when I know more of your established lore
A small factiod about you:
I travel the US doing RenFaires and Medieval Reenactment
What got you into DND:
Been playing since the days of THAC0 as a.way to use my love of history and fantasy channeled
Timezone and available times:
Timezone will vary between EST amd CST over the year but Thursday evenings works for me ...ifnwe have to change Tuesday through Thursday is best ....afternoons into evenings. Occasionally this will change if I have a long set up/break down for a show but that's not too often.
Favorite food:
I travel and get to try all sorts of regional dishes .... from Cuban when im.in Floroda to Italian in NY/NJ to seafood in New England
Name/Age(Gender if you'd like): Taylor, 22, He/Him
Character Name/Age: Mazat, He's gonna be early 20's
A small story factoid about your character: He has a very cheery demeanor and strives to be just like his towns superhero, Alpha Gusto man.
A small faction about you: I am currently a Co-Owner of a small indie game in development right now!
What got you into DND: a few years ago I started getting into writing, specifically character writing. And from that I started writing characters from classes in dnd, and that formed into my first ever campaign I played, Curse of Strahd.
Timezone and available times: CST, available most weekdays after 4PM, Saturdays and Sundays will either be perfectly fine or no based on my job, but Saturdays usually work better.
Favorite food: A real hard toss up between shrimp and Crab Rangoons
Name/Age(Gender if you'd like): Sheldon (Somno)/ 32
Character Name/Age: I prefer to get to know the party before making a character, my character building is dependent on the other players of the campaign and their individual personalities. Name and age are usually the absolute last thing I do with a character build, because i prefer to nail down their backstory, then their class/background, then their personal details.
A small story factoid about your character: Undeveloped
A small faction about you: I am a responsive type person. the energy you present me with is the energy I deliver in response. I am a DM and have been DMing for 12 years, struggling to find long term campaigns as a a player. Mostly we get 10 or so games in and scheduling defeats us. I have to many character concepts rattling around in here to nail anything down until i know what kind of people i'm playing with.
What got you into DND: I am very much NOT a public activity person. I enjoy doing outdoor activities alone, but crave human interaction. DND is the best of both worlds for me, although I would rather play in person, my current geographic location prevents me from being able to do so.
Timezone and available times: Pretty much any day, Prefer evenings. The only time I am Currently NOT available is Wednesday Evenings as I am DMing at that time.
Favorite food: I am a huge fan of cheeseburgers, but there's a specific one that is near and dear to my heart. A double 1/2 lb angus cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato. smoked not grilled, & layered with hickory bbq sauce & Ghost Pepper Extract. The bread Brioche with a light toast on the inside, coated in a light bit of ketchup and thousand island sauce. Fries toasted crispy outside, with a fluffy inside preferably in avacado oil or lard. seasoned with slap ya mamma seasoning & dipped in a chocolate malt.
