I’m looking for players for a Descent into Avernus campaign focused on dark fantasy, difficult choices, infernal politics, brutal combat, and cinematic roleplay. Expect a journey from the streets of Baldur’s Gate into the first layer of the Nine Hells itself.

• D&D experience: Been playing DnD for about 8 years, 4 of them as my group’s DM but we’re taking a hiatus on our home games as everyone gets adjusted to their new schedules. (Don’t worry those games are on Sunday so won’t interfere with this one)

• Preferred playstyle: I’m definitely a person who enjoys to roleplay most often than not, but I won’t back down from a combat encounter if needed. I’m usually the person that likes to support others as well whether it’s combat or role playing.

• Character ideas you’d like to explore: One idea I had for descent into avernus is cleric of Ilmater who was previously someone who was forced to fight in the Blood War like Karlach from BG3. He was freed by members of the Companions of the Noble Heart, an order of Ilmatari knights that are dedicated to fight against slavers and cruel oppressors. The knights freed him and others who were in the same boat and gave them the opportunity to have a fresh start in Elturel. So when the city gets swallowed up into the Hells he makes it his sole mission to free his new home and family from the hell he went through.

Another I had was a Wild Magic barbarian who is the son of one of the noble families in the upper city of Baldur’s Gate. I kinda have him being like a sort of Batman to Baldur’s Gate, fighting bad guys and evildoers because he loves his city and wants to protect from any sort evil that threatens the peace in his home.

D&D experience: 10+ years ttrpg experience, with ~5 of them behind the screen. I’ve been playing dnd since uni, then branched out to Kids on Bikes, Blades in the Dark and various one-shot systems. Nine times out of ten I’ve played custom or improvised games, but I’m keen to jump into a pre-made campaign 😊

Preferred playstyle: A good mix of everything. I’m very keen on social games with lots of RP – I don’t mind if a session ends with no combat at all. Actions-have-consequences plotlines and moral dilemmas, horror themes, inter-party drama (assuming the players are on board ofc)

Character ideas you’d like to explore: I generally like to talk out a character idea with the DM so we can both have a character and story we’re interested in telling and suits the setting, but I’ll add one I’ve had in my back pocket for a while.

Josol Simmons (he/him) – Half-elf – Barbarian

Son of two monster hunters who grew up in a hunting camp. Intended to follow his parents into the profession until a monster broke into the camp and went on a rampage, resulting in the death of his best childhood friend. Angry over the death of his friend and afraid that the same fate awaited him, he fled the camp as soon as he was able - but still holds a grudge against the camp leader who allowed his friend to die and mysteriously disappeared not long after the attack.

        A pretty simple Idea but has a load of potential. a criminal who is chaotic neutral. They are a sorcerer who just discovered their powers and plan to capitalize on it.
