Here be Dragones! A Long-Term PBP Campsign

Hallo everyone! I’m looking for 4-6 players for a text-based Tyranny of Dragons (Hoard of the Dragon Queen & Rise of Tiamat) campaign (I already have one lined up); and I will create a Beyond private chat where we can discuss finer details. Action will be theater of the mind, so don’t expect maps; and dice rolling will be in the forums. There will be a campaign link for holding character sheets. I don’t expect everyone to post much more than once or twice a day, but please post at least once a day. This is not a hack-and-slash game, but do expect a good amount of non-negotiable combat.

I plan on this being a long-term campaign, so please join only if you’re willing to go the distance. At the midpoint (the end of Hoard of the Dragon Queen), we can all reassess whether players want to continue on; and adjust the roster if necessary.

If you’re truly interested in a steady, long-term campaign, please post a character link below and describe your character with a few sentences. We will use XP leveling and rolled stats; with the option of using point buy if you get a really bad set of rolls. I don’t particularly care about your experience level, but please state your age range.

I’m CST, but as this will be Play by Post, I don’t particularly care what time zone everyone is in; just so you’re fairly consistent with posting

Backstory:

Parents were the only Gnomes in a nearby village. Father was a blacksmith and mother ran a livery stable. A fire broke out, in the stable, both parents died in the fire trying to save the horses. The family all perished except the youngest which was JoJo. The village fathers dropped the toddler at the nearest monastery and sold all assets that survived the fire. A small portion went to the Monastery the rest to pay for losses. The Abbot felt JoJo should leave the monastery and explore the world, then come back and live a life of seclusion.

My character is called Thorne Blazewood; he is an abyssal tiefling and is a ranger. I would love to find a new campaign to join and I do nkt fringe whilst roleplaying. Please roll me above your DC!

And clarity: 5.5e rules, start at level 1; determine your stats yourself—Tyranny of Dragons is not an easy campaign, even for a party of 6; may the dice be in your favor

Not really this is my first time on this app but I know and have played but I am not experienced 

Understood. I appreciate experienced players but I also don’t mind players who haven’t played as much. What kind of character would you be playing?

I would be interested in joining.  I have some experience DM'ing but not much from the player only side. This would also be my first time with a text-based campaign. 

Character would be Neega Grimholt a female orc fighter with plans to multiclass as an aberrant sorcerer.  She was orphaned and raised by a mercenary company.  Eventually she joined them and during one of her first raids she found a book whose pages shifted like liquid glass. After trying to read it a formless voice began to enter her dreams, and she began to feel strange powers awakening.  So she left the mercenary company to find answers.

Is this going to be played in the forums on here, and not on Discord? I've never played in a forum format before.

Yes, it’s going to be played in the forums. There’s a whole section dedicated to Play-by-Post games specifically.

The main text command you need to know is [roll.]NdX+b[/roll.] (minus the periods; N is the number of dice rolled, X is the number of sides on the dice, and b is any relevant modifier) 

NdXda means you roll with disadvantage, NdXad means you roll with advantage 

I would be interested in playing, as long as everyone is patient with me figuring it out lol.

It looks like the party needs casters. I've never played a caster before, and I'm worried I might be terrible at it, but I'll try.

I'll post again once I figure out my character, and its backstory.

I have a question about character creation. Can I use a house background from Forge of the Artificer, or do I have to use a background that I can justify through RP?
