Game: D&D 5e homebrew campaign Group type: (18+) Online via discord voice and Roll20 Experience: We have mostly veteran players at the table but we have a story-first approach. Location/Timezone: Our group is from a variety of time-zones, so anyone is welcome if you can make the scheduled time! Schedule: We play at 9:30pm UTC (4:30pm EST) every Friday. Roles sought: We are looking for 1, possibly two additional players if we find the right fit. We are looking to add someone before our game on Friday, June 12th. Game style: Roleplay heavy sandbox-style fantasy. While the setting can be serious and dramatic, the group itself is very comedic and relaxed. We joke around a lot, and despite playing online, the atmosphere feels more like a group of friends hanging around a table on a Friday night than a highly formal game.
About the Game:
Welcome to Alainn, a long-running homebrew setting shaped collaboratively over two campaigns. This world has been built over years by both DM and players, with character choices permanently altering the setting, factions, history, and future stories. Whereas our first campaign was a more traditional, linear fantasy story, this campaign is exploration and survival focused.
Campaign 2 takes place on the continent of Drakon, where six dragon overlords seized control while the saints of Alainn were distracted by war elsewhere during campaign 1. This story focuses on survival, difficult choices, political tension, and making the most of life under oppressive rule. The party began in a lawless port city of Ragged Roost. Since then, they've become involved with smuggling operations, criminal factions, mysterious relics, and the agendas of both dragons and saints alike. What started as a simple job spiraled into a larger mystery about what the dragons are truly planning for the continent of Drakon. We have been playing in this campaign for about 7 months, but our group has been playing online together for about 4 years. Finding someone who meshes well with our group matters to us more than being an experienced D&D player. We’re looking for someone who:
Is 18+
Enjoys collaborative storytelling
Is a strong team player
Communicates well with others
Is comfortable joining an established friend group
Likes roleplay and character development
Wants to contribute creatively to the world and narrative

Name or Nickname: Bandit
What is your experience level with TTRPGS? A few years, mostly with 5.5e but I've also tried a few other editions and systems.
What do you enjoy most in a campaign (roleplay, combat, exploration, etc) Roleplay for sure, especially with other players. Exploration, combat, mystery, etc. are all cool too, but primarily I'm here to do the silly voices, get knee-deep in all the drama, and improv!
How would your friends describe you as a player? I think probably as a sidekick or a companion tbh! I like supporting roles, and I like to make *tasteful* comic relief characters for that (the group mom, the geriatric mentor, the naive tagalong, the lovable idiot, etc. etc.) The thing I do that gets the most attention is teeing things up and pulling people into my scenes. I do a lot of "As I hear that, I raise an eyebrow in X's direction" or "Oh, we just need to break into the castle? Y can do that! They do crime all the time!"
If you've played before, what has been your favorite character you've played and why? Bjorik Littlefoot. He's an old dwarf, retired from a life in the mines, and decided to go for one last adventure to check it off the bucket list. Total dad-of-the-group, giving sage(ish) advice, making his famous soups at the campfire, tending to everyone's wounds. I had a great time with it for all sorts of reasons, but I especially enjoyed the roleplay spice of being a very old man who just doesn't give a cr'p anymore. Super direct, no filter, always said exactly what everyone was thinking. Led to so many fun scenes.
What interests you about joining an established table? Typically I'm wary about joining mid-campaign because I think quite often, people are backfilling because of churn. I've joined a few before where there was clearly a reason for people to have left recently. I think with this one, I'm a lot more eager and excited by the idea because it's long-term and obviously quite well-established, which tells me that the existing group already must have good chemistry.
Our world has a lot of existing history, factions, and consequences from prior campaigns. Does that kind of interconnected worldbuilding interest you? Absolutely! - I think it's a great way to do it! It'll take some time for me to catch up on all the lore, but I'm 100% here for it and ready to make my mark on the world ^.^
What are you looking for in a long-term D&D group? I guess I'm not LOOKING for anything - how long is a piece of string, right? I wouldn't want to draw a box of expectations around the game, I'd rather see what shape it holds already and appreciate it for that. I have faith that a group playing a game together for 4 years must have a good reason to do so, and I'm excited to find out what that reason is!
Campaign 2 explores survival, difficult choices, and differing viewpoints under dragon rule. What kinds of themes or stories interest you most in a setting like this? I'm big on that "poppies grow best on a mass grave" thing - Finding the beauty and the strength that comes out of hardship. I think the things that interest me most in a harsh setting like this is seeing the compassion and humanity shining in the face of that adversity, the drive and determination of those willing to stand against it, and the camaraderie forged in it.
Do you have any character concepts you would potentially like to play? Our party is level 4 and consists of a wizard (order of scribes), a fighter, and a soul knife rouge. That's perfect! I love playing a support character. Very happy to be a healer that the team hires out of necessity and then adopts, or that the team saves from monsters and then owes a life debt, or anything else that fits! As I mentioned above, I'm big on supportive roles and tasteful comic relief concepts like the group mom or the lovable idiot. Once I've heard more about the world and the point in the story I'd be jumping in from, I can give some more specific ideas ^.^
Hi! I love your pitch, this all sounds very compelling.
Name or Nickname:
Alan
What is your experience level with TTRPGS?
Very experienced (6+ years) when it comes to D&D 5e 2014. Have only played 5.5e once but I don't see that as a difficult transition at all if that's what you prefer.
What do you enjoy most in a campaign (roleplay, combat, exploration, etc)
I love all of those things! Assigning percentages is a bit reductive but my dream game has about 40% combat and 60& roleplay and exploration. My favorite part might be weaving my own backstory with the main plot, along with discovering the backstories of other characters and creating compelling bonds.
How would your friends describe you as a player?
I think they'd describe me as a dedicated player who respects the game and other people's time. They'd say I take roleplay VERY seriously while respecting lines and veils, and that I'm generous with the spotlight and usually take the 'yes, and' approach to dnd. They'd say I'm creative in my writing and character backstories, funny without being disruptive, bold and invested in the roleplay both with players and the DM.
If you've played before, what has been your favorite character you've played and why?
I have SO many favorites. My current one is a tiefling bard with a level in hexblade who unknowingly trapped the love of his life in the sword her carries around. A languid performer with a heart of gold, he alternates getting into trouble due to his sharp tongue to moments of surprising tenderness and wisdom.
What interests you about joining an established table?
Joining an established group of friends is a bit daunting, but the upside is that I potentially get to meet so many new friends! I know how to read the room very well, so don't worry about me messing up the vibe or anything.
Our world has a lot of existing history, factions, and consequences from prior campaigns. Does that kind of interconnected worldbuilding interest you?
Absolutely! While I don't write novels for my characters' backstories, context is super important to me. Lots of lore and worldbuilding help stimulate my imagination during character creation, or gives me a solid bedrock to adapt something I've already written.
What are you looking for in a long-term D&D group?
Not cancelling last-minute and generally respecting people's time. Being somewhat welcoming (again, outsider entering an established group of friends) and friendly, but other than that? Just a shared desire to tell cool stories, tell jokes and roll some dice.
Campaign 2 explores survival, difficult choices, and differing viewpoints under dragon rule. What kinds of themes or stories interest you most in a setting like this?
The lost mysterious relics mentioned appeal to me quite a bit! Big fan of story archetypes like lost civilizations, lost tech/magic, broken-down ruins and dead gods (not saying these are required, just giving a list of favorites). The political intrigue between factions also fascinates me, I enjoy the concept of player characters being relevant figures in the world and not just hobos with superpowers.
Do you have any character concepts you would potentially like to play? Our party is level 4 and consists of a wizard (order of scribes), a fighter, and a soul knife rouge.
Absolutely! I have a character that I think would work quite well if we take a little time to make him fight into the world properly. He's the charismatic swashbuckling archetype, with a bit of lost nobility and cosmic horror thrown in there. I have a pretty extensive backstory written for him, too. Since you've been so kind as to share party classes, I'll tell you he's a warlock with a single level in fighter- he's designed to tank a bit, deal big damage and have some spell versatility.
Thank you so much for reading! My discord is isearchthedark Hope to hear from you soon!
What is your experience level with TTRPGS? about 10 years (PF/5e)
What do you enjoy most in a campaign (roleplay, combat, exploration, etc) i like a good mix of roleplay and combat though rp has a slight advantage
How would your friends describe you as a player? a begrudging leader and tactician
If you've played before, what has been your favorite character you've played and why? a rabbit gunslinger by the name of Cole Mcclain, it was fun doing the accent and bouncing around the map fanning the hammer
What interests you about joining an established table? i always enjoy stories in their base form and DND is a fun interactive form in any manner, so hopping in late allows for a more established world to learn about
Our world has a lot of existing history, factions, and consequences from prior campaigns. Does that kind of interconnected worldbuilding interest you? Of course it allows for varying outcomes and consequences both good and bad to helping or hurting others within those, beyond this it creates a theater for those we dont interact with that can affect us beyond the scenes
What are you looking for in a long-term D&D group? fun times and experiencing their character development
Campaign 2 explores survival, difficult choices, and differing viewpoints under dragon rule. What kinds of themes or stories interest you most in a setting like this? themes of bringing long standing conflicts to a resolution through investigation and interpretation of the ideals either side has whether its via a knifes edge or diplomacy
Do you have any character concepts you would potentially like to play? Our party is level 4 and consists of a wizard (order of scribes), a fighter, and a soul knife rouge. a tempest domain cleric who worshipped one of the dragons who most closely embodied storms but was excommunicated from their temple for urging the elders to attempt peaceful means of existing with the other dominions
