Something is very wrong in Hollowveil. The year is 1897. For three weeks now, an unnatural, endless mist has sealed off this remote mountain town. Every road loops back. Letters don’t leave. Those who try to escape are never seen again.By day the town feels almost normal — quiet, isolated, tense. At night the street lamps flicker… and the Others come out.Creatures wearing the faces of your loved ones. Children speaking in voices from another era. Things crawling from the old mines. People vanishing from locked rooms. And when the mist turns blood-red, something massive moves through the streets — something that should not exist. This is a dark gothic horror mystery campaign heavily inspired by Stranger Things (supernatural mystery, strong character bonds, wonder mixed with terror) and the From series (a town you cannot leave, nightly survival horror, escalating dread, ancient secrets, and growing paranoia).Tone & Style:
Atmospheric, psychological, and creepy with moments of real dread and body horror.
Heavy emphasis on investigation, secrets, trauma, friendship, and courage.
Roleplay-focused with combat that feels dangerous and meaningful.
Levelling will be milestone-based and relatively slow.
Game Details:
System: D&D 5e (with some light homebrew and safety tools)
Level: Starting at Level 3
Players: Looking for 4–5 players
Platform: Roll20 + Discord (voice)
Schedule: Will be decided depending on the timezones of all players.
Content Warnings: Body horror, psychological horror, death, trauma, paranoia, mild gore. Full Session Zero with lines & veils.
We’ll create characters who are tied to Hollowveil — locals with secrets, complicated relationships, and personal stakes in the town. The campaign will be long-term (aiming for 30+ sessions) as you uncover what’s really happening beneath the mist.To Apply: Reply below or DM me at discord (@thefriendlydm) with:

Let’s see if you can survive Hollowveil.
