Hey there, this is Brad! I've been playing D&D since 2020, DMing since 2022, and I've been a nerd since way back. I'm a professional theatre technician, I'm also an improvisor, actor, and writer. Princes of the Apocalypse has everything from your favorite action espionage thriller: important hostages needing saving, huge fortresses ripe with opportunities for stealth infiltration, and maniacal villains bent on world destruction. Join me in leaning into the theme- create your very own action espionage D&D character, specialized with larger than life feats and abilities, infiltrate deceive or fight your way thru highly guarded dungeons, and stop the destruction of the Sword Coast!
This game is for movie and video game nerds as well as fans of the action espionage genre- think secret agent man, femme fatale, or specialized operative; use story and genre tropes from Mission: Impossible, Alias, Hitman, James Bond, Metal Gear Solid, The Bourne Identity, Splinter Cell, etc.
The game begins at level 1 with a prologue mission, The Sunless Citadel, establishing your backstory with CMDR Hauberk Miller and the rest of your companions. The main mission, Princes of the Apocalypse, starts at level 3, three years later. But it all starts with a simple message, with direct instructions:
--- This is CMDR Hauberk Miller, highest ranking member of next generation special forces HELL-HOUND, and your Commanding Officer for this operation. We have an interesting situation brewing in Oakhurst, and I can only count on the best to get it done. I hope you're up for the job...
The founder and mentor of HELL-HOUND, the drow mage Vizeran DeVir, has been Missing In Action for over six years. One of our own, Sir Brayford, was investigating DeVir's last known location when the local Mayor put out the call for adventurers to explore the Sunless Citadel just outside of Oakhurst. The Mayor had an arrangement with the goblins inhabiting the Citadel that a trade is made each year at midsummer for a magic apple which supports the town's economy for the year. This year the goblins didn't show and the Mayor wants to know why. Sir Brayford joined three other locals in the Citadel Expedition - a ranger of the guard, and a brother and sister duo - to find the magic apple. They haven't been seen in over a month.
You will have three mission objectives: Firstly, you are to rescue the 4 members of the lost Citadel Expedition. If they are non-extractable then you are to recover their remains and equipment. Secondly, you are to investigate the missing magic apple. Recover the apple, bring it to the Mayor, and figure out how the apple is grown. Lastly, corroborate these claims of Vizeran DeVir's last known location. If he is in the Citadel, he may be trapped and we need to bring him home!
This is an infiltration mission: you will want to get in and out without raising too many alarms, but you and your companions are free to choose the best course of action. I will be stationed in Oakhurst with the locals to provide information and support during your mission. If you need anything you can contact me by STONE. I'll meet you and the rest of your team in Oakhurst for mission briefing. Until then, stay alive out there! ---
Style: dungeon crawl, combat heavy, role play heavy, hexcrawl, sandbox

What will you get in this game? 2 published WotC adventures: The Sunless Citadel and Princes of the Apocalypse, played weekly 4 hours at a time. Complete 5e compendium on Foundry VTT with full color maps, custom tokens (provide your own non-ai art), character sheet management and automatic dice rolling, immersive lighting effects and background music. Professional DM with decades of acting and improvisation experience for fun characterized NPCs and immersive storytelling. A fun take on a classic game in a classic genre, playing with character and story tropes we all know and love.
Safety My basic rules: This is an LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent friendly table No sexual aggression or violence No racial aggression or violence No gender aggression or violence No generative AI use allowed Do you believe love can bloom on the battlefield? PG-13 gameplay romance is allowed between PCs and NPCs. PG-13 gameplay romance between PCs is allowed, but only after full consent and boundaries are established between included players. No means no. All potential players must fill out the player character questionnaire before they can be considered for play. Once you are on the Discord, I'll go thru more in depth character creation and backstory work thru messages and group chat. Everyone will participate in a Session 0 to discuss lines and veils, play experience, getting-to-know-yous, character details, and build a character sheet in Foundry VTT. I suggest a 2 screen setup at a desktop with a headset microphone and webcam, but at the very least you will need to be in one place on a computer and able to hear and be heard, and see and be seen during gameplay. Foundry does not work on mobile, Discord does. Participation in this game is contingent upon the above rules and good vibes of the group. If you break the rules or are bad vibes, I reserve the right to kick out players.
Character Creation: - Create a level 1 D&D character using 2014 or 2024 rules, who is larger than life and would fit-in to an action espionage setting - Point Buy and Standard Array abilities are automatically approved, Rolled abilities: 3d6 7x drop lowest score, requires DM review before play - All character options are available, I would recommend a well rounded build. There is an emphasis on magic in combat, emphasis on infiltration in exploration. That said, feel free to specialize your character however you wish!
Drop a comment below and I'll DM you the application questionnaire to be considered for play :D
